you should not be in the business of taking care of people if you do not have it in you.... You need to be a special person... a lot of patience and a lot of compassion .. Unfortunately, most are in the medical field for the money.. Not for the people
Jobs like a nursing assistant only takes a few months of training. There are many amazing NAs out there but there are many people who do it for a job. There are also nurses who only want to take care of people of their own (Christian, white, non-LGBT). You’d think they’d choose this profession because of compassion but there’s just some that falls through the cracks.
I was in a coma and I could hear everything that they were saying when they said I was non coherent. I told them things they said when they said I was in a coma and everyone was shocked. I cant imagine being in that state for 12 years and being mistreated the way he was. Whoever sexually assaulted him deserves the death penalty. It takes a majorly sick individual to do that to someone. Poor guy.
@@ceo9395 No, he was fully conscious, so during those 12 years he got most of the news by television or radio or just people around him talking about the news and stuff.
As an EMT Ive seen what many of those facilities do to people like him. It's absolutely horrible. With every patient I get even if they seem gone. I treat them with the upmost respect.
You can say that and people will believe it because we have no idea who you are. I think it's strange to try and prove that to people you dont even know.
@@subline_funtime i doubt it is the case for *everyone* . I believe that some genuinely cares, but due to the tough nature of the job, most probably the minority.
The only "care" they give is their paycheck. smh. This video made me wanna cry. No matter if you're concious or not, you're still a human being and treating people that way is unhumane.
Uncle Eidolf I agree! I have had my shares of hospital visits and nurses (not all of them) are just going through the motions and treat their patients like machines. They don’t care if they hurt you, they’re merciless.
Martin remembers his mom saying he loves him 12years ago :me: forgets I have my phone when I get out of bed and go to the kitchen and drops it and it breaks.
I literally don't understand how people could stand around someone unresponsive in a wheel chair and call him dumb - and while receiving a paycheque for doing so. That just blows my mind.
This is both inspirational and heartbreaking. His strength and compassion (for his mom in particular) is inspiring. The fact that he not only suffered abuse, but that it wasn’t just from one person is heartbreaking. In fact, it sounded like more of the norm and someone that was actually compassionate was rare... This, without a doubt, makes you lose faith in humanity!
Depending on how long I've been in the coma and how I've been treated, I may be thankful. This is why I think everyone should have on medical file what they want their family to do if they end up in an coma. Of course, if you can still breathe on your own, pulling the plug won't matter. Euthanasia would be needed and that's not legal everywhere.
Man you're making me feel bad. after my dad passed away, i made the call to pull the plug on my mother who was in a coma for a year. She ended up living for another 2 weeks before the starvation and lack of liquids killed her. we moved her into a hospice and let her die.

She was not being cruel but sympathetic ...She just told it that she wished he died because she wasn't able to see the pain her beloved son had to undergo over and over again everyday ...After all it was over 10 years ..
Honestly, these types of videos make me fully realise that even if someone appears to be unresponsive, you should treat them well and do things that you'd do to normal people like occasionaly change the show, talk with them, ect ect.

I fully believe my grandfather was conscious up to his last moments. We would visit him at the hospital, and when we asked him if he could hear, us he would slightly wiggle his toe. you should not be in the business of taking care of people if you do not have it in you....
How the heck did they get the job in the first place
@Barbara Mulvaney Im happy my grandparents are healthy enough to not go to nursing homes. i heard these places can be horrible sometimes
Some people are straight-up evil, those who tortured him should be brought to justice.
Poor guy.
To be fair they didn’t know he was awake.
How muvh and why

Why don’t you do something about it like tell someone or stand up for the helpless?
@@Ozzcaps Because 1: it’s hard to prove. And 2: he only realized it happens after they are out of the facility.
You can say that and people will believe it because we have no idea who you are. I think it's strange to try and prove that to people you dont even know.
The amount of caregivers that pretend to care are outrageous....
Well I mean everyone pretends to care. I rather have someone pretend to care then finding out they didn’t .
Would be perfect with a virus that targeted bad people, but then the planet would only have 100m humans
@@subline_funtime i doubt it is the case for *everyone* . I believe that some genuinely cares, but due to the tough nature of the job, most probably the minority.

Most doctors pull the plug on them themselves without consent
Look up the percentage of doctors that are psychopaths.
Uncle Eidolf I agree! I have had my shares of hospital visits and nurses (not all of them) are just going through the motions and treat their patients like machines. They don’t care if they hurt you, they’re merciless.

If i was him i would make the abusive caretakers suffer painfully
Imagine hearing your family talking about pulling the plug, and then they do it.
And then you still survive and 30 years later you take your parents plug out
Well if they do it, it wont even matter you heard it anyways unfortunately
Depending on how long I've been in the coma and how I've been treated, I may be thankful. This is why I think everyone should have on medical file what they want their family to do if they end up in an coma. Of course, if you can still breathe on your own, pulling the plug won't matter. Euthanasia would be needed and that's not legal everywhere.
Man you're making me feel bad. after my dad passed away, i made the call to pull the plug on my mother who was in a coma for a year. She ended up living for another 2 weeks before the starvation and lack of liquids killed her. we moved her into a hospice and let her die.
