Onboard the SLEEPER TRAIN that Crosses the Sea on a Ferry
We're back on board a sleeper train! This time we decided to embark on an incredible journey from Milan, Italy to Hamburg, Germany, this time, we'll be taking three trains and the first one is from Milan to Palermo,
We're so excited about this first train because, at some point on the route, the train is divided into parts and shunted into a ferry to cross from mainland Italy to Sicily.
Check the next leg of our journey here (train from Roma to Vienna):

You should have way more subscribers. Just joined your vids. Love it.
If it's not to personal, how did you gentlemen meet??
What was your roomette number? In your sleeper car, did they orient the roomettes forward of the car and bedrooms to the rear, or visa versa? Superliner sleepers can be positioned either way so curious how it was on your journey.
HI again.. Was just re-watching the video, and I neglected to congratulate you on the Spanish residency visa. It's great you have that settled and also that you now have unrestricted access to the Schengen Area. Happy times in Spain and Europe! Oh, also, I totally agree about toilets in your train room. I don't use them either. But it's nice to have your own sink.
how does this only have 140 views?! Ur guys videos are rlly good quality. Ya'll definitely deserve at least 100 thousand subscribers
From your lips to God’s ears! Thank you for this comment of support as it pushes us to create better content 😀
Ironically, Amtrak does not use the one advantage they do have over air and auto transportation. And that is the ability to simply add an additional car (or sleeper) when demand rises. Instead, they charge more and more for the remaining seats or roomettes as the train fills up and gets closer to the departure date. Not everybody can plan a trip eleven months in advance. Sometimes we'd like to plan a trip say 6 weeks in advance, but by then Amtrak has already jacked up the price of the remaining roomettes, and so the traveler just gives up on the idea. I would recommend that every year they establish pricing for the year and stick to it regardless of demand. If demand requires an additional car, diner, or sleeper car, just add it. And don't tell me we don't have the inventory of railcars. This is America!
Thanks, guys, that was so interesting. I never heard of a train that crosses a body of water on a ferry! I stayed in Milano in October for a while and took a train to and from there, so it was fun to see the station again on your video. Can't wait to see where you guys go next!
Neither did we until we began researching our next trains trips! It was a unique experience and we're so glad you could join us! The Milano station was gorgeous but freezing cold! 🥶
Awesome 😎
I don’t know why but him whispering is making me laugh. I love this video and thank you for this info
🥰🥰👍👍👍👍
Hello from North Carolina
Hello from Spain, Jennifer! 🙂
I’ve been there at Central Park , I payed £400 for 6 nights there, I liked it for the money
Plan to embark on this trip in November. Thanks for the preview. 😊
Have you eaten at Lou Mitchell's which serves the best breakfast in the world? The deli is only a half a block from Chicago Union Station?
🍆🤝
Hey guys did the hotel have a hot water kettle in the room?
Hey! No it did not
For a second there I thought you'd hired Gru from Despicable Me to do the voice-over. Great video, btw, and much appreciated.
😅 Squidward has also been mentioned
Hey I'm from Minot. The main crops in ND are various types of grain such as wheat, oats, barley, canola, corn, etc. Great video and thanks for the info. I'm thinking about trying Amtrak to and from Fargo soon.
Thanks for the info! Do let us know how it went if you decide to go ☺️ We just went on three new sleepers in Europe and can't wait to go on Amtrak again
Too bad there isn't a alternative to Amtrak something more upscale.
European sleepers are a good option if you're ever on this side of the pond 🙂
Hahaha I love everyone's take on all the amtrack routes they take and post their version to influence others , my friend and I took the empire builder from Seattle to Whitefish for a ski trip in 1991 and things haven't changed much as I see on everyone's posts..still stinks like Diesel especially out of the tunnel over Steven's pass and the roometts can stink like a motorhome blackwater chemical holding tank here and there some times, but the food is ok and choices still the same in the dining car, the stewards treat you on the top shelf are very kind and friendly. Its worth checking out once.
ND grows sunflowers. I lived there for 4 years.
Wow i never knew we had these in America. Really awesome to know we do 💯
Im hoping to take this route in a couple weeks just for fun🎉😂
We thoroughly enjoyed it and are planning our next three trains for next week 😀
A nice gay couple on a nice trip in Europe. Great! <3
🤗
Great video! Booking my stay. Thanks guys 🫶
We're glad it was helpful :D
The hotel is beautiful. Nice work on the video guys!
Thank you so much! We were so excited to share this hotel with you!
Do you mind? I may have missed it, but what month did you travel on the Empire builder?
Hola, Brenda =) Not at all! Our trip was in May 2024 =)
Hi, I am considering to stay at this pod in Jan next year. 1. Since it will be winter in Jan, is the blanket they provide free? 2. Do they charge any hidden fees when you check in? 3. Is the locker fit for carry on or bigger luggage? Much appreciated if you could provide some responses. Thanks!
Title aside ,-) a fascinating video. I visited the station when it was just a ruin about thirty years ago. Beautiful restoration job, and as you saw, the area is gorgeous. If you are in the area again it's worth crossing the border to Artouste-Fabrèges where you can catch Europe's highest narrow gauge railway.
It must be an awesome experience to visit this hotel having visited the station when it was in ruins! Thanks for the tip on the border crossing... we can't wait to go back!
It was never a Nazi train station. There were train stations in Nazi Germany.
Hard to argue with good semantics 🙂
Unfortunate connection
Indeed!
well edited and informative. glad you had a great time and good luck with further adventures..
Thanks so much! We had such a good time that we're planning a return visit, maybe for Christmas 🙂
Great video and very informative. Beautiful hotel and area your visiting. Scarf, you both look good in it. You brought up your empire video. To bad it runs at night through the Mississippi River valley between La Crosse and St. Paul at night and through Glacier National Park. The east bound train does those stops during the day. Very scenic. Glad to see is notification. You both take care be safe. ❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it! thank you for following our adventures. We'll keep doing everything we can to keep earning your company. 🙂
Hi Guys. Another fun video. I checked out the hotel online and, for early December, they are giving a rate of only about €125 including taxes. So I guess it's not always as expensive as when you were there.
That’s a more agreeable rate! The hotel wasn’t so bad in the end, at least our room… and the location alone warrants 125€
Im not a vegetarian or vegan but the kofta kebab meal is outstanding I woukd eat it every day. Wish i knew where to get it.
It's very good indeed! I wish there was at least one more option without meat though because if you take multiple Amtrak trains then you have just one food option on all trips.
If you are not a person that value the journey more than the destination. Then train travel is not for you.
100%!
I slept good on top but then again I'm a Marine and we can sleep anywhere. lol...
A marine?! I never stood a chance 😛
Do you find it difficult to do these videos in English? Your English is beautiful but is it difficult
It’s harder than to do it in our native language, Spanish, of course but it’s fun! It’s a way to reach more people as English is universal 🙂
I did this exact trip earlier this year! It was a beautiful ride and felt like it was a once in a lifetime experience. You guys have great vibes, thanks for sharing your trip!
Thank you for watching! Glad you relived your trip with us 😀
Hello, I just came across your video as I am approximately 5 minutes in and I must correct something that has become a BIG MYTH with visitors. FIrst, I want to mention that I am a local... born and breed in New Orleans so I know a fact versus not when I come across one. You mentioned in this point in your video that you were told by an Uber driver (who definitely is/was not from New Orleans as you would have not be told this if he/she were) that all burial grave sites are ABOVE GROUND!! THIS IS NOT TRUE!!! I am not going to go into the actual numbers, percentages and/or reasons why some cemeteries have above, below ground or both burial options, but they are quite a few burial sites in New Orleans in which the method is below ground... including everyone that has passed in my immediate family. I hate when people are told this especially when it is NOT THE TRUTH! With everything in life, I believe that if you do not know the truth about any fact or situation, you should not make up a story! With that, I will continue to enjoy your video as I do not believe that I will come across any other myths pertaining to my city. In this point in the video, you are in New Orleans East parallel to Lake Pontchartrain which you are about to cross. (I hope you did not tip your Uber driver, lol)
Well thank you for correcting this belief as we would not have found out otherwise! 🙂 -Ari
@@JhonandAri You're very welcome. I took my first Amtrak ride a couple of weeks ago myself. I am a frequent flyer, but I have always had an interest in trains; I just have never taken one (in the U.S.). take care.
Hi where are you guys from?
Hi! :) I'm from the Dominican Republic and Jhon is Venezuelan -Ari
Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it
That was interesting.
:)
I'm really enjoying your trip videos. I also love your accent and am wondering where you are from. If you don't mind saying.
Well thank you for saying so! 🤗 it can feel a little self conscious at times not being a native speaker. I’m from the Dominican Republic and Jhon is from Venezuela. -Ari
I just watched all 3 of your USA Amtrak videos. So lucky that you got new, upgraded roomettes each trip! Excellent videos.
Glad you like them! It’s great to hear you joined us through all those miles traveled 😊
@ChrizzLau69 Roomettes are very nice. But they are way, way overpriced. Also, they are quite small for the money.
@ Very tight space. Like a tall casket 😂
I done this trip, but unfortunately every single window was extremely dirty and unclean. None of the riders could enjoy the views, for the exception of observation and dinning.
We can relate! Our window was not that clean either... we had the urge to clean it on one of the longer stops 😛
You boys enjoy the punishment eh? I'm happy to volunteer if you need someone to take a firm hand with you. 😉
Good morning Jhon and Ari. Move to Spain they said. Live in Madrid they said. Then go and check out all the worst hotel's in Spain? Enjoyed the vlog. ❤❤ Your new day job. 😊❤❤
Glad to hear you're enjoying them! 😃 We're having fun making them!
LOL regarding the comment about the chair couldn't have been worse than riding the NYC subway (my home town)! Pro Tip: if you forget to log out of your Prime/You Tube/Netflix account in your hotel/Airbnb, it can be done remotely. If it makes you feel any better, we just stayed at the Thompson in Madrid, around the corner from the Anaco and had to deal with the same noisy/dusty construction at Plaza del Carmen. At least you were close to the marvelous El Corte Ingles! (You know I love you guys, but DOMINO'S? In Madrid???🤮)
It was a month-long hankering! 😝 if it helps it wasn’t good…
Thanks for this vlogs guys. I’m planning to try it out in January next year. You should try the California Zephyr soon as well. I tried it last April and the view was absolutely amazing.
The Zephyr is definitely in our bucket list! Some of our fellow passengers on the Empire Builder were doing the Zephyr next 🙂
