I don't understand the hatred of brushed motors. Cheap, nice drag brake feel, easy to drive. Not every car needs to push the limits of speed. If you want a brushless one, get a Reflex 14, pretty much same size and has a center diff. I really like the Groms for stock racing. Not like I can go 30 on a backyard track anyhow.
I don't hate it. I just like to upgrade my RCs. It also gives me a chance to make additional content on the same RC and a lot of guys who want to see it upgraded. It's actually a lot of fun stock, and 20 mph isn't bad at all. I would love to see a stock Typhon Grom class. I would run that for sure.
Great job going over the details of the Typhon Grom. After market parts are slowly coming out and I would imagine that in a year or so there will be all kinds of upgrades available. This 1/18 scale is super fun to drive even though it's kinda slow and under powered. Just a bit more power and it should be amazing.
This good looking little guy rips right along! think Arrmas's on the right track making mini versions of their really successful bigger cars! remember when losi did this as well as Team A and HPI . just a great idea! Well done review brother!
Really stoked on the Grom platform. I took my Granite Grom out the other day and I forgot how much I love that car. Just fast enough to require a bit of skill but durable enough to let the younger ones have a go. Picking one up this week probably I can’t wait to test drive it on the local clay track 😂
Amazing! Reminds me a lot of an Arrma Typhon 1/8th scale, just a lot smaller. Looks great. The Arrma Typhon is my personal favourite RC car 🚗 😍 well done arrma tough 💪 👏
I just caught that. I said brushed 380 in the unboxing and slipped and said brushless in the outro. Ops, I already bought the brushless setup and was thinking about installing it. So I had it on the brain. Good catch.
@OutsideRC It's also clearly stated in the upper right corner that it's a LIPO in white lettering next to the 30c. And on Horizons site, they also say Lipo. www.horizonhobby.com/product/7.4v-1400mah-2s-30c-smart-g2-lipo-battery-ic2-connector/SPMX142S30H2.html
@OutsideRC 💯 I don't understand why they list it as both a Lion and Lipo. It makes we want to tear the casing open. But then I couldn't trade it. O Well. Mine is definitely getting upgraded to 3S very soon.
You have to spend $200 for esc motor and receiver not to mentio😂n the servo. Could buy a MJX and have money left over for parts on just the upgrades alone ...Thanks But no thanks. LMAO
I have 7 MJXs rigs. I like those rigs a lot. They don't have a 14th scale buggy. I like Arrma so testing there rigs out so people know what they are getting before buying is what i do. The new MJX 14303 is awesome. th-cam.com/video/6j0jon17O9I/w-d-xo.html
MJX is junk the throttle delay is unbearable. Can’t even brake oversteer because it’s so slow to react. I got mine mega cheap on Amazon but I still regret it, love the Grom Granite 100x more
Yea, It's a nice chassis but how do they expect to compete with a brushed motor that is half the speed of the competition. Poor marketing of basically a poor attempt to get into the 1/16 market. Shame on you Arrma.
Yeah, they are definitely betting on you purchasing upgrades later and keeping it basic for a lower price. I like to upgrade my cars. So it makes a fun project but, it's definitely not cost effective.

Agreed. I'm trying to get to my upgrade video. I have too many builds going on at once.
@@hyperc5249 I will be looking for it when you post it. I ordered stuff for mine and it's taking forever.

Thanks. I like them. Fun to run around and upgrade.
After having the typhon grom for a few months now, do you see a need for metal diff covers or not?
@@XtrmTJ97 metal diff covers?
@hyperc5249 yes, the aluminum covers over the front and rear diffs. Stock are plastic.
@XtrmTJ97 Gotcha. You will not get any performance out of that mod.
@hyperc5249 Thank you

Right. It will be so much fun on that track. It would make a great stock class racer.
Wish it just have come already brushless
Agreed.
Hey bud, great video, will the Arrma 6s system fit in there at all?
No. It's a 380 motor. A 2838 brushless motor will fit just fine. There are multiple combos you can choose from.
Amazing! Reminds me a lot of an Arrma Typhon 1/8th scale, just a lot smaller. Looks great. The Arrma Typhon is my personal favourite RC car 🚗 😍 well done arrma tough 💪 👏
Thanks. The Typhon is one of the best RCs, period!
@@hyperc5249 100% agree 👍
My grom is a few days old and I get 26mph out of mine I'm not interested in going any faster because of the size 😎👍
26 is a great speed for that rig. Especially if you are running on a track.
What brushless do you plan on using in your upgrade?
You will have to wait for the video on that one.
Tease
Can i use 3s lipo?
The stock setup is 2S only.. You can drop a new motor and ESC in to handle 3S.
1/8 scale mega should look exactly like this. I have the red livery myself.
Yeah, the silver and blue is super sharp.
I absolutely loved the video! It’s amazing. Im looking forward to buying this beauty
Arrma is killing it with the groms.
I'm so disappointed with the Granite Grom, but the same body and Typhoon Grom plastic deep cups break often, and the brushed motor is unanswered
I upgraded the diffs and to a brushless in my Granite grom. It runs great.
@@hyperc5249 Where can I buy reinforced differential gear? It's not available in Korea where I am
@user-lu5gx4im9f check your local hobby shops and online.
@@hyperc5249 Thank you. I'm always enjoying watching it
@user-lu5gx4im9f Thank you. I appreciate that.
It’s brushed
Yep. But not for long.
I just caught that. I said brushed 380 in the unboxing and slipped and said brushless in the outro. Ops, I already bought the brushless setup and was thinking about installing it. So I had it on the brain. Good catch.
It's not a lipo battery, it's a lithium ion battery. Just saying
No Sir. It is a Lipo Battery. 1400mah 30c 7.4v 2S Lipo.
@hyperc5249 clearly states on the battery it is a 1400mah rechargeable lithium ion battery
@OutsideRC It's also clearly stated in the upper right corner that it's a LIPO in white lettering next to the 30c. And on Horizons site, they also say Lipo.

Definitely a mixed review battery. Either way I see a battery upgrade to 3s and a brushless system real soon

Right on. It's definitely not for everyone.
Nice one as usual! Arrma tough💪 and great for a new person to the hobby
Thanks. Great little rig. I'm going to turn it into a rocket.
