This is a true and funny story. In 1969 I was 9 and my mom was gaga for TJ. My dad was on the couch reading the newspaper and my mom screaming as TJs fan. My mom went to my dad and peaked over the newspaper poking at my dad. At this point my dad is stone faced, so mom runs upstairs, comes back down and yells JB(my dad’s name). My dad pulls his newspaper down as my mom was throwing all of her panties at the TV. My dad pulls his paper back up and we just cracked up laughing. I am 64 and still in love with Tom. He needs to do an album with Jennifer Hudson. It would sellout in 1 day! We love you Sir Tom!

Too funny 😂. I wasn't a fan until someone gave me a ticket to see him in Hawaii. I was awestruck. What a great show, and yes women threw panties. I saw him on a talk show awhile back, and the host ask if they still throw them, and TJ answered "yes, but they're much bigger these days!" 😂

Was VH1 in the States in 1993 when it was still a music channel and were beginning to show more real rock as I was getting fatigue on Grunge (despite the fact I was 17 years old at the time, I was listening to classic rock and Metal, traditional Metal). One day I was watching Beavis and Butthead in May, 1993 (before everyone jumped on the bandwagon) and it ended so I went to VH1 for kicks and giggles and watched the last part of this as I saw David Gilmour who is my favorite guitarist of all time from my favorite band of all time Pink Floyd and watched him soloing and said "why is he playing with Tom Jones", being a Pink Floyd fan it surprised me. I then said I will watch it in full and record next time it's on. True to form it aired a few weeks later and I was blown away at the performance.
Also Tom's band had Tim Renwick who played in post-Waters Pink Floyd as second guitarist, percussionist Jodi Linscott (who was in David Gilmour's 1984 solo band as percussionist) and drummer Gary Wallis (who was percussionist in the post-Waters Pink Floyd tours) and David used his creme colored Stratocaster with the EMG pickups and his solos were amazing.
At 2:52 a chryon appeared for the US audience which read

PINK FLOYD
I believe that was added as most Yanks apart from Floyd fanatics like myself didn't know who this great guitar wizard was (I apologize to my British friends)
Afterwards I gained a new appreciation for Tom Jones. Thanks be to David!
