Me too! I suggest playing Goat Format if you wanna relive those days with your friends. I still play modern Yugioh but every once in awhile I like to play Goat Format for old time's sake.
If you want this experience with the diversity and creativity of modern cards, play casually with friends... because that's how you played back then. Old Yu-Gi-Oh competitive was just as bad, if not worse, you just never experienced it.
@@fartballs77 ehh, not really. Oldschool competitive YGO was definitely bad during scientist FTK format or machine OTK format, but most "oldschool" comp formats were really good.
@@justaguy3310 You cold honestly say the same for this era. It's *different*, sure, and it's not the game you played 13 years ago, but popular decks like tearlaments are actually really skillful decks. Plus if you play at locals you'll still get a variety of different decks or playstyles, for example I run cyber dragons (which is not a meta deck) and still do decently well at locals. Of course you're not going to counter recent meta with old cards, you need to adapt. Even back then, you wouldn't beat 2005 chaos decks with 2003 beatdown decks. New Yu-Gi-Oh isn't bad, it's just different.

I have ALWAYS thought we should be able to play banned cards in a match against friends as long as the duel room is setup to allow banned card decks. Like they arent hitting ranked or the ladder in any way so what is the harm in it?

Canonically, Yami would have lost about 2/3rds of the way through the ceremonial duel. He only didn't lose because he used his Millennium Item to draw whatever he needed.
The anime really messed with him heavy he only managed to summon obelisk in the manga anime had him summon all 3 gods

Honestly, Yugis cards need a lot more synergy and support
they do, problem is, yugi uses so many different cards, that they all got their own archetypes for them, there's like at least 8 archetypes made out of cards yugi uses.

ok so we got: Dark Magician, Magician Girls, Silent, Buster Blader, Kuriboh, Gaia The Fierce Knight, Black Luster Soldier, Gadgets, Magnet Warriors, that's 9, good enough, probably more I think.
@@Druguzu to explain better, Yugi used magnet warrior, silent, gandora and gadget. Atem has pretty much the rest and archfiend. In the movie they would combine them again despite it going against the purpose of the final duel(but we got to sell those magician cards and not silent).

I had that exact same trainer guide. If I remember correctly, there's a section in that guide where there's a list of what's 'hot' at that time, like single cards and different card packs. Apparently all Tournments were 'hot' with a picture of Judge Man next to it saying 'me like tournaments!' Or something like that.
Jacks knights cards were definitely essential in summoning the gods in the anime

I enjoy these matches more than a beat down duel, with so many negate and ftk kills. I enjoy the old school dueling more than the new.

Remember when duel monsters used to be this simple now people do three millions things in one main phase
Duel Nexus really needs to fix it’s bug with Lair of Darkness cause even if both me and my opponent have monsters and I activate a card like Eradicator or E-con or a effect like Darkest Diablos that requires a tribute for cost it still only allows me to tribute my monsters.
