I lived across the valley from Scout Hall for my childhood. It was abandoned for all that time, with a reputation for being very spooky. Everyone said that anyone who lived there would come to harm. As kids we avoided it. Talking of quarries - there were quite a few about the Shibden area but near Scout Hall there had been a coal mine used briefly about the time of Anne Lister.
Ah, yeah, Tom mentioned a coal mine....thanks for that. He even thought Gentleman Jack was filmed there. Thanks for watching....it's still looking spooky today!
Thanks Matt & Tom for another great video. Appreciate the regularity of the videos and interesting topics covered. As you are local to us (littleborough) me and the Mrs get inspiration for places to visit and local history. She said is it possible to get a microphone as she struggles to hear you both in some parts so we have to turn the telly right up 🔊😂😂... great job and look forward to more of the same in the new year 🙌
Hi, Thanks as always, for watching 😊. Yeah, I've had a few comments about adding a microphone from past videos....I shall certainly look into it for the new year. All the best, thanks again, and 2025 is already shaping up to be a good one 👍
Thank you for taking us on some interesting journeys and sharing all the stories relating to them. Look forward to some more next year 😊 . Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas 🎄
Having lived in hx all my life,i'd never heard of scout hall until recently,it looks an impressive building and as ive always been interested in the paranormal i'm glad to see u visiting this place.I had heard someone had bought it and was going to renovate it but might just be heresay.
Thanks. Yeah....I find the name adds an air of creepiness to it. You can almost picture a horror film called The Calender House. Have a great festive season! 😀
Matt and tom ..another interesting video..I was down at Linthwaite..checking out an old mill ..Called westwood mill ..opposite..The titanic spa ..another mill that was done up !..It's near the Huddersfield narrow canal and river colne ..should check that out ..for a video sometime!!
Thanks Angelo. No current plans to return, though who knows for down the line 😊. Yeah...might be a good idea for the new year. All the best to you this festive season my friend
Merry Xmas and a very Happy and Healthy New Year to you all. Looked at that house back in the mid 80's and thought about buying it. As you can imagine, the sums for ''restoration'' would have been astronomical and with so many restrictions etc.
Thanks, and the same to you 😊. Yeah, I CAN imagine....I think thats why it's being done in stages, and with years between the work. All the best, thanks for watching
An interesting story, and wholly new to me. The earliest successful British flying machine I know of was Sir George Carey's glider, which flew across a Cotswold valley, carrying his coachman, who resigned the moment he landed safely! That was some time in the late 1700s, I think. I'm surprised, given his reputation, that Mr Mitchell wasn't believed to have sold his soul to the devil......
Thank you! Have you ever considered a video on the Shibden Industrial School that sat on the grounds of Shibden Park? My grandad and 2 of his brothers spent time there for stealing a loaf of bread and it was a brutal place. One of them ended up dying there of pneumonia. I ended up getting their actual admission/dismissal records from the Catholic Diocese in Leeds, who now have all the records. Oh, the stories I could tell on that front...
Just seen thus one guys. With reference to UFOs it reminded me of a story I'm sure you know but don't know if you've covered it.......I hope so😊 Police officer Alan Godfrey UFO sighting in Todmordon. Fascinating story
Hiya....yeah if you search Todmorden UFO Files on my channel you'll find a video on the Adamski case, Alan Godfrey and also UFOs Wyke. Thanks so much for watching

I think the local vicar at the time certainly thought he'd sold his soul. Thanks for the info, and for watching 🙂
