This is what I’ve been thinking about doing because my climber is so heavy and I like to go as deep as possible. Glad to see someone has done it and it works like I hoped!! Good video! great concept!
I’ve seen this on another vid and I like it much better than sticks....and you don’t run out of sticks. The summit utility strap (2 for $10) that has a tourniquet buckle works great for cinching the stand to the tree. I do that with my upper on my viper. Good vid!
One of the quickest and safest setups I’ve seen. Only thing I can see I would do. Is attach a safety line to stand. My luck it would drop halfway up. Then I’d be stuck. This is a method anyone could do. And you don’t have. Aides. Baiters and taiters. Swinging in the wind or trying to get your boot in a strap while dark
Glad you like it and your right about the safety. If you watch the vid again, you will notice my cousin uses his " platform strap" to keep the platform hooked to him while climbing. I personally use a rope tied to my foot strap.
I use this same platform but with sticks. Best platform out there for saddle users imo. Never occurred to me to use it like a climber when doing a one night sit. BONUS ! Thanks a ton ! 👍🙂
I like how light and fast it is. Not a lot of trees that I could hunt out of though. Need trees with no branches, like a climber. Looks like a great system for the right kind of tree though.
@@michaelmangano8733 Idk man, I treat them the same. Depends on the lean I guess. Mostly I climb and hunt on the high side of the tree if that makes sense. Some times I climb from one side to the other, whatever it takes.
So my cousin uses a webbing tether and likes it. But he says it slips more on a wet tree then the rope. I use a stiff rope tether (static line) it keeps its "form" when raising/ sliding it up the tree.
The ocb strap is connected to the platform and his saddle. He clips it on his saddle (left side) before he started climbing. I personally use a rope tied to my foot strap and clip it on my saddle.
Can you guys make a video on the two sit drag/ diy saddle video? I think alot of people would benefit from it. Also how you made the bridge and all of the mods you guys did to it.
It's been awhile since we made a video. We play with jeeps and mountain bikes all summer. Now we're chasing deer around. Anyway, ill try and throw something together with cousin.
This is one of the safer methods I've seen climbing a tree when saddle hunting. Even if there is a branch, let the saddle do its job, and reposition the climber above it. Using strap on sticks or steps scares the crap out of me. A lineman's belt shouldn't be used as a fall restraint IMO.
Hard to see but he uses his ocb strap for that. It's hooked to the platform and saddle on the left side. I use a rope from my saddle to the foot strap. Watch videos 2 and 3.
Great method when you have the right trees. Fast, easy, efficient, and user friendly. Great video! I love it.
Can you tell me what is the device GEORGE is using to adjust his tether strap.
I know this is old but if you rappel down then coming down takes 5 seconds!

So what part of the lone wolf do I need can I buy just that part? Cool idea

What platform is that?
What do you use for the boot strap on the climber??
Great video ware did you get that stand ?
It is a lone wolf hand climber "seat"
super fast. holy cow, faster than spurs and more secure. I had always discounted this as a viable option but now you have me rethinking it.
Lol. I actually thought I was the only person who did this. It makes steps and sticks and one sticking obsolete.
The climbing platform is dual purpose. What's not to like?
I like how light and fast it is. Not a lot of trees that I could hunt out of though. Need trees with no branches, like a climber. Looks like a great system for the right kind of tree though.
I find this system works really well on straight trees. Do you have any tips or suggestions when using it on trees that are not straight?
Do you mean non perfectly vertical straight or trees with limbs?
@@johnnypalmer2574
Yes I mean trees that are not straight. Ones that are leaning.
@@michaelmangano8733 Idk man, I treat them the same. Depends on the lean I guess. Mostly I climb and hunt on the high side of the tree if that makes sense. Some times I climb from one side to the other, whatever it takes.
@@johnnypalmer2574 Johnny, could you do a video climbing a tree that is leaning 10 to 20%?
@@michaelmangano8733 yea, I need to do another video soon. Been hunting instead lol....I'll try and find a nasty tree for ya. Thanks for the idea.
so you use an additional strap to secure the hand climber to stabilize? Thanks.
Part 2 video shows stabilizer strap.... 99% of the time, I don't use a stabilizer strap at all. No issues
What is he using to wrap around the tree to tie into?
Do you find this works better with a webbing tether than with a rope tether?
So my cousin uses a webbing tether and likes it. But he says it slips more on a wet tree then the rope. I use a stiff rope tether (static line) it keeps its "form" when raising/ sliding it up the tree.
The only downside I can see is........... if the climber step fells or falls? What’s your get down method?

I to would like some more info on your saddle build
Does George ever use a linesman belt when climbing using this method or does he feel that using only the tether is safe enough?
We only use the tether
Did he double up on sit drags or is that just one?
Yes good eye, my cousin sewed two sit drags together. Most comfortable "saddle" to sit in.
Great way to lose the platform to gravity. Then what?
Did you sew two sitdrags together?
My cousin did, he's the guy climbing in this video. It is very comfortable and double the strength.

It's no different than using the bottom. U can't have any branches!
Mr. Skeptical
Why could you not just hang from the saddle and reposition the LW over the limb? IDK. But seems like it would work.
Hope you attach something to the climber in case it falls
Hard to see but he uses his ocb strap for that. It's hooked to the platform and saddle on the left side. I use a rope from my saddle to the foot strap. Watch videos 2 and 3.
How do you modify the hand climber for feet
