I got a 95 036 given to me from a farm. I literally brought it home blind ported the exhaust and polished it and then i made a base cutting jig aka sand paper nailed to piece of 2x6 and cut my base. It will walk 372s in hard wood with a 24" bar. Those saws are little animals. I didnt even open a second exhaust port in the muffler or any fancy stuff. The saw just works good.
The 034av was (46mm) 56cc I believe and the Super is 61.5cc (48mm). Then Stihl came out with the 036 which shared basically the same cylinder and piston as the 034S. At some point The 036 got the intelli-carb setup in the air filter. There were some good carb options for the 034/036.. The Tillotson that came on early 034 is rumored to be the best performer. I have one but need to rebuild it. It’s on my list of things today sometime in the next 30 years lol 😆
Have an old 034 AV converted over to 036. I’m not sure if the 360 is the same way but mine has the same size small splined sprocket as an 026. I know for a fact that it is without a doubt the best running saw I’ve ever ran with the exception to my dads M-Tronic 261. Put quite a few hours on it the last three years. Nice light saw. Not quite as fast stock as a 6400 makita but a fair piece lighter
90 OR 70. I’m a 70 man myself with 2 of those things that I’ve got for when I bring them along on tree service jobs (arborist related) and the boss is TICKLED that I like to have my own saws. In fact, he seems to like using them as well! What a complement that is for me. 🎉
The 036 was a great saw. Probably the best 60cc until the 365s showed up. Now, obviously, the 362c is king. Yeah, yeah... I know the 562 makes more power, but it's heavier and exponentially less reliable. Husky needs to get away from the disastrous "5" series. Get away from strictly computer engineering and actually listen to the end users. You know, what they did with the 3 series.
No the first ms362 was complete trash.. they made no torq then the years went on and now that it’s the V.3 M-Tronic Stihl finally figured how to make the 362 run like a useable chainsaw. It was like the 201t when it first came out people used them as wheel chocks because they were such a failure. Not until major dealerships called their Stihl reps and said come take all these 201T’s away we will not sell them anymore did Stihl do anything. They sold you a retro kit that had coil, carb and flywheel in it. It made them run better but not spectacular but they were usable.. fast forward to today and the 201TC is the best top handle you can buy then when ported they’re insane in terms of it being a top handle. I switched to the 540xp m3 this year and while they’re nice saws and make great power the 201tc is just so much more refined.

That's me. And it's apple-atchin, not appuhlayshun. Lol
😁👊
Don't say it wrong, we'll throw an apple at cha 😂
It'd be nice to see a comparison of the saws people actually use everyday for most of their work. I cannot wait for the 90cc challenge!

036 “PRO” had a decomp as well. Those non decomp 036 cyls are very nice
👍👍
