  • i show in this video how the stove works when used as a twig burner by boiling water for a cup of tea, and a lovely fried spam sandwich. i also show my personal add-ons. i think this stove could potentially feed and water up to around 4people if each person has a pot/plate and a cup.

I have the Solo Lite stove.. Love it, expensive yes. I've also got a Lixada wood stove.. love that too but heavier, much cheaper. Prefer the Solo. Loving your videos mate.

the cooker will contain the fire very well and it is double layered so it doesn't get extremely hot on the outside so it's not that dangerous unless the weather is extremely hot and dry like 30'C. i don't live in the woods, i travel to the woods to do the video. hope this helps.

Where'd you pick up that canvas stuff sack with the Union Jack on it? That's a great looking little bag

Sorry nick I can't remember but I looked about on Google and the best i seen is ones for sale on eBay right now by kerrykezvharvey80 (2398) or search on eBay canvas billycan bags, they are DPM with kernow bushcraft label on the side, i think its got a cornish flag on it. That's the best i can do.

I like that little grid (or grill). Where do we buy that, and do you know the dimensions of it? Great review! Thanks!

I went on Ebay and searched stainless steel bbq grill rack. It's about 10 inches by 6 inches, They don't come that size. What I did was buy a large grill with a mid rib/a bar going down the middle, then sawd it to the size I wanted, then filed and sanded down the rough edges with sand paper for metal and that's it. Self made and satisfying. It can be used on hot embers as well which allows them air as opposed to meat on the embers which will cool and almost extinguish them. That's a bit of a rough thing though, but very carry friendly. There is a small grill for sale, it looks like it's got bandy legs, the legs can be removed or turned around and replaced and that would allow the grill to be 1 inch off hot embers.

Is there a reason to flip that lid and use it upside down? Maybe if you are NOT cooking? I like the clean look of the lid in the upside down position. What does the manual say about that lid?

If you mean the little chimney on the top, I flipped it to the stowaway position. If you mean the billycan lid, I put it on the floor flipped so the dirt doesn't get on the inner part.

The only time to buy one is black friday for the buy one get one, but they send the “seconds” so don’t expect it to be un dented. And I have had several shipping issues with them and its a nightmare to fill out their automated form . It just keeps saying, “I don’t understand your question”.
Then its says someone will respond within 24 hours and they never do. Don’t bother trying to call because no one is gonna answer. They got decent products, that are way overpriced, but almost worth it during the sale time. But their customer support is spooky-bad.

Well said, people need to know all this stuff you said, I can't remember where I bought mine but I know it wasn't solo stove, it was a bushcraft store on line of some sort I think. Not sorry I bought it though. 👍

Solo stoves sadly do not last a lifetime. The welds failed on mine and the ash pan dropped. They are over priced compared to other makes and what the makers don't advertise (only in tiny text on the bottom of the box) is that they are made in China. Solo is an American company and when I bought mine I assumed it was made in the US. Wrong......what we are getting is cheap Chinese products at US prices. I bought a £20 Tomshoo woodgas stove as opposed to a £90 Solo. Yes I bought Chinese but I KNEW what I was getting and it works absolutely fine. I hope you have better luck with yours.

I'm not a hard core user of mine, I don't have the time. I did hear once before about the ash pan so maybe it's a common fault ??
