Might be a hot take, but it feels like the new Price's reputation had been soured by his series, specifically after MWIII. Before that, especially in MW19, he was a pretty solid follow up to the OG, even if he couldn't live up to his legacy of 3 games
Its not a Hot take. A lot of fans were highly invested in Reboot Price and its generally realized that Price from MW19 was the best version of Reboot Price. He was violent and visceral like his OG counter part but had a much more human side to him that balanced it out. MWII toned Price down and MWIII just assassinated him almost entirely. Theres no possible way on Earth that Price from MW19 would have been ok with Farah getting Ballistic Missiles from Shadow Company after they tried to kill 141 and Price would never be opened to the idea of letting Makarov live. Price would have killed him before Soap could.
Reboot Price got butchered hard core.
It ain’t a hot take since everyone thought the same back in 2019. We all loved Reboot Price for being much like his OG counterpart with that more humane side to balance it out. He was great and we wanted to see more of him. And yeah you’re absolutely right about him being soured in the next two games, it’s sad enough to call it severely pathetic.

im really late entering on Call Of Duty (literally this year) but as more i see and play, i understand why the 2007 - 2012 was the gold years for the saga

They were both great, until the Reboot Price fell off a bit in Reboot MW2 and then was on the verge of being completely assassinated by Reboot MW3, effectively killing his character because of dogshit story telling.

The new price tries really hard to have a gravely voice while price had a naturally deep and gravely voice. He also sounded more British
The Reboot one had a lot of potential and was really good in 2019. But he got a lot worse in the sequels. This one ain't even a competition considering everything OG Price did in the games

OG price will always be the one caring about his team, also he's brave, he is also a team leader, gave soap his M1911 to finish off Zakhaev off. He even took out makarov with a bang, ending the MW series.
Reboot price isn't as brave as the OG

Reboot Price is definitely brave, but hes poorly written which ruins a lot about him.
New cpt price was well written in MW2019, the following mw games broke down his character due to lazy writing

Overall i think the original is better, but there are certain things i like about the new version, such as i think the actor they picked to play him did a good job.
For the most part it was just the new games themselves that needed to be improved.

Saying mw2019 price is younger is questionable, since the only confirmed mission that is mutual in both og and reboot MW series is All Ghillied Up, both price's were a lieutenant in 1996, meaning they were somewhere in their late 20s. By the time they become captain its 2011. In fact, mw2019 price is older.

OG Price - Most of the time is ruthless against anyone who wasn't on his side or anyone who doesn't follow his lead often or making a mistake
Reboot - Mostly potray to be cold, sometimes being warmed heart father-like person, sometimes cracking joke a bit too much and sometimes did some questionable decision as the team leader
Overall the OG ways more believable as the seasoned veteran SAS. He just as ruthless against his team as for his opponents. Way more and too much serious. And he willingly to get his hands dirty to get the job done for anyone he cared
I love reboot a bit more because he's a bit more realistic. He has two sides of him, a goofy and a serious one, there's time and place for both.
