My grandfather was the Douglas county coroner in the 1950's and 60's in the Tahoe area. He told me stories about being called to two stories of bodies being recovered that were perfectly preserved. One was a man dressed in 1930's clothes and he thought it was a mob victim. The second was a little more strange. A fisherman brought up a body of a native American woman who had a dress that he thought was from probably the 1800's. It was the strangest thing he ever saw as a coroner.
My grandma was the lady and she said thanks for interrupting her water nap
Nice story
Years ago, I stayed at " Harvey's " at
Lake Tahoe. I was advise, this lake is so large, you could pour it's waters on the entire state of Texas and it would be 3 inches deep..
With the current drought, LADWP is probably trying to figure out how to steal all that water.
You could cover the entire state of California in 14" which would, Right now, be a great idea to get rid of the wokies and peedoughs that occupy SF and LA
The legend is that the native Americans starting 1000’s of years ago would use it as a graveyard they would take the bodies of the dead from their community and would prob weigh them down and would sink to the bottom and apparently it’s such a low temperature and deep lake 1400ft+ and being a high altitude lake the bodies would suspend and never float up but stay down so there would be just bodies suspended all over in certain areas. “Supposedly”
Fisherman back in the day pulled one out
1:45 They can't be frozen solid. Water is it's densest at 39 degrees Fahrenheit. As water gets colder, it becomes less dense and rises to the surface. When ice forms on the surface of the lake, it insulates the lake keeping the lake from losing heat.
Its so deep the bodies are basically frozen. A body of a drown victim can be found 10 or more years and the body will be in the sane condition as it it only went in the water hours before.
There are tunnels under the casinos on North Shore; I lived there for 30 years and my kids went on a tour of the tunnels with the Boys and Girls Club.
What's in the tunnels ? Like many made ?
@@golddiggerboss people usually say tunnel for something dug on purpose, and cave for natural formations caused by erosion, so I’m gonna lean my guess towards man made as her intended meaning
If the drought keeps up, we'll find out what is down there.
There is about 15 cubic miles of water in BOTH lake mead and Lake Powell. 36 cubic miles of water in Tahoe. I've often wondered how bad it would have to get before they tapped into that lake.
There is actually tunnels in the CalNeva in North Lake Tahoe, and there wasn’t a hermit on the island at Emerald Bay since it was owned by Ms. Knight back in the 19teens to the Great Depression since my grandmother knew Ms. Knight that owned Vikingsholm and the Island with the little building on top since my grandmother has her family cabin right above Emerald Bay here in South Lake Tahoe, CA
Yeah it was a tea house.
I find this extremely interesting, due to depth of lake, the mafia connection, and especially that quote from Jaques Custeau.
I heard he's quoted as saying after he returned from his dive in the lake..
"The world is not ready for what I've seen down there"..I'm paraphrasing here, he could be speaking of several factors here...intriguing as hell !!
Would have been nice if he specified what he was referring to. Many people think he was referencing a "lake monster", but in light of all the bodies the mafia threw into Tahoe, I believe Cousteau definitely meant all the bodies.
My girlfriend’s father owned the cal nevia in the 90’s and there’s a lot of lore about the place. Perhaps the most fascinating thing was an item in the Indian room collection that was an ancient sword that was said to come from the east and gifted to the natives prior to Western European contact. It was never displayed it the Indian room but rather sat in Mr Bluth’s closet at home. It along with the other items displayed in the Indian room we said to have been acquired from a Native who played and won a lot of poker in Virginia City. It was said that he had taken many people for a lot of money and was killed by men who were trying to find his cash. May have been the Saddleridge cash but hard to say. At any rate the sword had been passed on for many generations but it couldn’t be verified when it had actually come to the continent. Apparently there are records with the Shaolin that say two of their swords went out and long ago and were not returned. The cal nevia remains closed and I’m not sure who owns it now or what’s become of this strange anomaly.
At hundreds of feet down ( over 300 or so) the gasses do not form in a body due to the lower temperature. It does not have to be freezing. A body would not form gasses and float up. Not many fish at 0ver 300 feet either to consume anything.
So there’s two types of dead bodies in Lake Tahoe. The first are from the 1800s when Chinese slaves built the railroads in the areas around Lake Tahoe. One guy would get weak or get injured on the slave drivers were just take them out and throw them into Lake Tahoe And get another slave. The second type of dead bodies are as depicted here enemies, or people that got into a bad way with the mobsters in the 40s 50s 60s and 70s.
Not a bad take tbh but there has to be at least another type such as miscellaneous for weird deaths and other murders
This way of thinking is so funny but very archaic. Bodies decompose even when they’re in cold water.
Tahoe is 41 degrees below the surface mixing layers. I believe the water below 60-100ft does not exchange with the water in the first 60ft from the surface, which has varing temperatures including below freezing and above 70 degrees. I think the "frozen bodies" is more relevant to the time of year the body is pulled from the surface.
Classic. Interestingly the deepest part of Lake Tahoe is relatively close to the Cal Neva in North Lake Tahoe. Local sheriff departments only recently, in the past two years now, have cadaver diving machines that can locate and find drowning victims at several hundred feet in the lake. Not certain they will be exploring the depths to discover its secrets. The old Indian Stories told of the lake are incredible. You should book a talk with the Tahoe Basin Management, they could tell you a tell or two from the Indian legends.
....... .... that shirts a crime!
I'm not usually one for critiquing someone's attire..however in this case, you nailed it Bob...and hell yes that was funny as hell !
I bet it taste delicious 🤤
I used to hear there was frozen bodies at the bottom of Donner lake. Not far from Tahoe
I’m pretty sure it’s, Sleeps with the fishes lol.
I only have visit Lake Tahoe once and very recently (less than week ago). It is a good sized and deep lake without question, but it has been ran over with so many cameras and no bodies of Chinese rail workers, mobsters victims or even Tessie have been found. I can never spell his name right but the famous French diver supposedly went diving there and quoted “the world isn’t ready to know what I have seen” (or something to that effect) but whither or not he actual dove or even visit there has been debated. I know one missing diver was found 17 years after he drowned so there is still small chance that stories of drowned workers/mob victims still there but unlikely. Regardless though, I enjoy the stories about that place though 👍
Lol.. Thre "French Diver" was jacques Cousteau the guy who literally invented the scuba tank and he did say that about lake Tahoe
The diver went missing in tahoe and was found at pyramid lake
@@Foxtucky Oh I know who it was, I just didn’t make attempt to try to spell his name. I’ve never gone scuba diving and probably won’t be able to due to ear problem but certainly enjoy watching TH-cam videos
Keep the Tahoe folklore going
I’m positive there’s at least one. Also has a 95 lb dumbbell attached with clasp and tow strap. Okay
Their not frozen, the lakes not frozen, they are preserved in the very very cold depths.
In the 1800's they would chain the Chinese rail workers and drown them by the hundreds when n they were no longer needed
Wow
That's probably a lie
@@crazyk831 it's true
Wow
You have to take this from a different book but I'm quite sure some of these Hitman where serial killers so you might have a different process other than regular hit in that area but. Higher concentration of serial killer so this going to be interesting to figure out
I thought Cousteau said the world isn't prepared for what's in Pyramid Lake, not Tahoe
Your perception of a different form of mummification through that process could be very unusual
Great topic. Very interesting.
Im exploring the bottom ill let you know when i find the bodies. I have some reports of a mob body about 300ft deep im going to check out this summer.
if you want to check out what im doing now here is my latest video:
th-cam.com/video/8notVllc1a8/w-d-xo.html
Notified me if you find something interesting
my dad would throw dead deer heads into our pond during winter for the fish to eat. by the time he pulled them out during spring they were all skull no meet. no way in hell there people will preserve in water, even cold water. it would have to be frozen solid or the fish will nibble away
Yeah, in my videos you can see thousands of shrimp down there and we discovered some new species
Look up the Campbell family of North Bay, Ontario, Canada. I'm from the city. They were missing since the 60s and they were found in early 2010. They were perfectly preserved.
It's possible my dude.
@@michaelclark7456 it says skeletal remains were found near their boat. I'm sure it's possible if there is no fish in the water but if there is fish, It is impossible. I promise you.
@@gregdragoo4777 there's pictures you can find, Trout Lake is a massively deep lake right beside the N.O.R.A.D base.

@tahoedeep has cool videos of the bottom of the lake
Cal Neva has a walk in
Just talking? Not a single image or video clip of any underwater diving in Lake Tahoe? CLICKBAIT 👎
39゚ doesn't freeze anything
Are you dumb? Water freezes at 42 degrees. It’s just the ice crystals aren’t visible until under 34 degrees
Uh, no. Fishes. Fishes eat no matter how cold it gets.
Is there even one Chanel w any real evidence. Nope. Instead waisted time on these gay wads .next ..
I believe it
1. There is NO Lake "monster"
2. No frozen bodies at bottom.
3. Does anyone have any Grey Poupon?
No water n it now barrels are being found with bodies in them.and why would they be frozen?
Thats lake Meade not Tahoe
I heard there are a lot of Chinese people at the bottom also.
🤔so where are the bodies that sank from the titanic
Nice click-bait thumbnail guys.
TAHOE TESSIE
Gas in lungs would cause bodies to float to the surface.
Two people rambling about something that they know nothing about....
Gee... How Fun.
You do not come onto TH-cam making references to the Godfather, and not know why he was praying before he died, LIKE THAT!!!
Can anyone tell me what qualifies a person to be a “ Buff?”
What about scuba divers drowned it?And I don't know, 13 years or somethere's a clutton.Afterwards, he came up and he was found in Pyramid Lake, but he disappeared in Lake Tahoe. There was a lot more to that late grew up there around it
yes there frozen solid
