It's been brought to my attention that the dinosaur painting is not Petrie from the Land Before Time but a character from a show called Dinosaur Train. I really thought Petrie was green but I just looked and he's Brown. It's been decades since I've seen Land Before Time though. Sorry for the mistake!
I just left a comment saying that lol I need to start reading the Pin Comments and the one that was Green was Ducky.
I thought it was Pterri from Pee-Wee's Playhouse. There have been way more pterodactyl characters than I'd imagined.

A few people on my Facebook friends list are posting them seeing arcade machines for sale in Goodwill now, Not the Arcade1up ones, but actual '80s machines.
Though they're asking ridiculous money for them, $1500 for a Turbo OutRun Etc.

7:00 That might be controls for a TENS massage unit. Back in the day, they were so expensive and required bulky control boxes like these. I used to see them all the time at a Japanese specialty store growing up. But hey, they worked then as they do today although today they’re not as bulky or as expensive.
Something about eating my fast food in an old strip mall and watching this just hits the spot.

Babylon 5 is excellent! All 5 seasons were written by J. Michael Straczynski before he even sold the show. So it has a complete storyline without compromises. The first season is really 90s, complete with a Zima neon sign, but the rest of the series makes up for it.
I laugh at that sign when I rewatch for the umpteenth time.

Wife and I are currently watching it. She has never seen it before. About half way through season one and she is getting into it and xhit has not even begun to pave the way let alone pay off.

Babylon 5 is a top flight show. It has many themes that still ring true over 20 some odd years later. Though there are rough patches early in the first season. Also note that season 4 will feel like the main story was rushed. It was since there was uncertainty about getting a final season order from the network. So J. Michael Straczinski made sure that at least the main story had a conclusion.
That medical device says something along the lines of "Field effect therapy device" on the front and "Produced by Beijing (something) technology development co. ltd, made by the institute of traditional chinese medicine in Tianshui City, Gansu province" on the back
Babylon 5, you owe yourself a full watch through of it. The first season will be the hardest to get through graphicly and acting wise but after that....hands down some of the best plot and characters ever. The new Battlestar galatica is the only SCI FI TV series that comes close which is another one you should watch if you haven't already. Technically you can skip the first season but you'll miss out on character and plot setup that play out at the end of the series.

There's some merit to buying the tapes for preservation purposes because, as Erik guessed, those were NOT available for retail purchase back in the day! Most of the copies that were bought have probably been junked or disappeared into a library by now...
I LOVED when the teacher would have us watch Bill Nye the Science Guy. Takes me right back to being a kid in the 90s.
Babylon 5 was AWESOME! Characters were allowed to change and grow, unlike a typical Star Trek series.
I’m just jealous of a Goodwill with a VHS section, most I get to nowadays don’t bother with them. Luckily local places got me covered: found some weird stuff like a Korean LG head cleaner with a funky sleeve and a copy of Mouse and the Motorcycle seen previously on RA Thrifting. Plus 2 VHS drawers like the cassette one here.
Ironically enough I also saw what I believe was a complete collection of Babylon 5 on VHS, but I was moving soon and couldn’t grab it. Never seen the series though, probably one I should check out myself.

As tremendously popular as Babalon 5 was, it's always the one everyone says they never saw. I'm convinced no one actually watched Bab5 and the network made up the numbers... I didn't see it until it made it to some streaming service a while back, but it had a really well thought out, thought provoking and cohesive story line that unfolded over several seasons.

7:00 That's an "electromagnetic" healing machine, some sort of pads with coils placed inside are supposed to attach to the power output (imagine an electronic blood pressure monitor). If you place the pads on your body where it needs healing, mainly for muscle strains or pinched nerves, then you'll benefit from the "electromagnetic field" generated by the machine. In other words, you're placing some padded heater coils on your body.

That episode of Bill Nye was circa 1993. I'm old enough to remember Graham Kerr during his Galloping Gourmet series. Cannot remember if Graham even dared to reintroduce the copious amounts of clarified butter though.
Self check-out is a thing at Value-Village here in Ontario Canada. No actual cashier, but one person stationed to watch over all the terminals.

Seeing stores like these makes me want to clear out my closets. We as a species in modern places have so much “stuff” that we probably don’t need. I tend to be relatively minimal, and I still have a whole lot of things in my closets that have built up over the years. Things that I’d hate to just throw away, but also have enough value that I’d rather not just drop them off at a Goodwill. But selling it all piecemeal would take forever. Especially if it also involved shipping. One interesting note on this video though. My school also had Bill Nye videos we’d watch in my science class in high school. Being a visual learner, I picked up a lot more from those than I did books.
Late to the party with this one, but I’m certain the red phone you found in the toy section is an old phone from Target. Those look like the phones up at Guest Services and the Garden Center (when target had those RIP)
The “fire resistant” marking on the box is there cuz not so long before that toy was made, a lot of toys were made of celluloid: a very flammable plastic.
I lived in Seattle. for a good 15 years after Sleepless in Seattle, you'd always see shirts and cups with the movie logo on it. Not sure all of it was licensed or not. I mean, it might still be being sold too. *edit* I see someone already mentioned that.
Fun Fact: while both stores accept direct donations, the majority of Savers merchandise is purchased bulk from smaller charities that don't have storefronts, such as Boys & Girls Club, Candlelighters, and others, which is then sorted and resold.
Savers will also frequently accept corporate donations from stores like Target. Basically, if Target doesn't have enough of a discontinued item to sell to someone like Big Lots or Five Below, they will just donate it to Savers for the write-off.
I recently saw a guy who got a full set of Wii titles. It was really cool to look at, the spines of Wii games are gorgeous side-by-side.
About Babylon 5, My husband and I are fans of the show and love it. What made Babylon 5 different from Star Wars and Star Trek is that it was like the United Nations in space. Lots of mystery, intrigue and well developed characters. J. Michael Straczynski created the show and I do believe wrote all the episodes for all five seasons. Fun Fact: Walter Koenig (Pavel Chekov from Star Trek) played a recurring character in Babylon 5 name Alfred Bester.
If you are looking to check it out, I do believe the episodes are on Hulu (don't quote me on that as I am not exactly sure). Some clips of the episodes are also on TH-cam.
They did do a "remastered" release on the Amazon stream service I think, but that's not enough god damn it - still waiting for that proper bluray release. A fun fact also is that Alfred Bester was the name of a highly appreciated scifi author.
I'm a latchkey Gen X'er(born '66)and it's amazing to see any 70's You are lucky that wasn't an original old phone..would have knocked you out they were so heavy! If that is White-Out, you should be able to scratch it off with your fingernail or use nail polish remover; WD40; rubbing alcohol.
Babylon 5 is worth a look.
More interesting is the Suan Ivanova/Claudia Christian action figure. The actress was fired from the show after the fourth season, but she appears in the series finale since it was shot before the fifth season -- if that makes sense.
What ruined Babylon 5 was long bye months between new shows over long seasons and then a shift to being a TNT-only program at a time when cable was still a big splurge at a lot of households.

Oh, I kind of wish Value Village (Savers' branding in Canada) had those self checkouts. I was in a Value Village just this evening and might have picked up a couple of CDs and a DVD had the line-up for the two open checkouts not been a mile long.
I actually had the same Labtec speakers (with the green logo) back in 1996. They were so crap and every time you changed the volume it sounded like an FM radio channel tuner
A physical copy of Primer in the DVD's is wild.
I 2nd Babylon5 (B5 for short). Think Star Trek but not everything is Rosy and warm.
Multiple comments stating this already but going to also throw in that you should most definitely watch Babylon 5! It was overshadowed by the (also incredibly great) Star Trek Deep Space 9 which came out around the same timeframe but it still has a dedicated fanbase for a reason though. I think it stands as one of the all-time greatest Sci-Fi shows and certainly puts the writing of modern Sci-Fi shows to shame, if nothing else.

Always check the CDs. I have found some gold in there. Including a few CDi games, had to sell them untested because I couldn't find a single person who still had a system.
I remember one time I went to a goodwill and they had tons of korean music that came from some kind of restaurant.

The Savers I occasionally go to has the self checkouts. In fact, that's all they have. No manned registers. Some of the self checkouts accept cash but most of them are card only.
It translates to: "When is your next driving around in the hood video". That's what it said.
My copy of Return to Zork came bundled with my SoundBlaster sound card/CD-ROM kit which also included the speakers you found moments later (although with SB branding).
Love walking around the thrift stores from time to time but sold on the self checkout in Savers.

I only knew about the Bill Nye show when it was on. Recently I watched an episode or two out of curiosity. I have to say that the editing style is way the opposite of my style. In terms on educational TV personalities, I much prefer Mr. Wizard. (Cue Epic Rap Battle?)

Babylon 5 is, imo, the best sci-fi show ever made. Absolutely check it out.
Babylon 5 is absolutely excellent from a story perspective. Season 1 is a bit slow and odd, but it all ends up slotting together and making sense in the later seasons. The hardest part is not getting pulled out of suspension of disbelief by the low quality computer generated digital effects, which were bad even at the time it was first airing, leave alone now. But yeah, if you like sci-fi and good deep political intrigue in a well thought out story, you'll like Babylon 5, it's definitely worth a watch.

Babylon 5 remains my favorite sci Fi series of all time. Season 2-4 are epic television. If I had found those figures, they would be mine.
You really need to watch Babylon 5 its a classic sci-fi 90s show with a awesome story. The special effects were all computer generated dated now but still hold up!
