it is lars who writes the sets for the concerts, lars who produces the albums with the studio engineers, lars who organises the band through qprime management, without lars there would be no metallica, he is a very smart man and knows how to run a band so all you little hater nobodies out there just thinking he is shit, think about it for a minute and stop whining!
No, we "hater nobodies" think he is a shitty drummer and a pompous douchebag. That's something you can see/hear with your bare eyes/ears. What has him being a talented manager to do with this? Exactly! You're just a fanboy nobody by the way.

FinalFantasyFan12100 it’s Metallica’s sound. They’ve kinda always used it. When a band gets a lead guitarist they are getting that persons style and abilities. Kirks been with the band not quite since the beginning but it’s been decades right?
Tbh he doesn’t use it much more than a lot of other metal soloists. He just does it all the time during his live performance and it became a meme so now people really focus onto the way even though they probably wouldn’t have noticed nor cared if there was no attention around it. It’s sad really
Don't you just feel the love between Lars and Kirk, do you feel it? the way they understand each other, they know exactly what they both want, and it sounds like they do!!! It's amazing...
I just realised thats the same producer they used for Hardwired, also I love how their studio look now more than how it looked during DM! Now it has all those oldschool guitars hanging on the wall (yes I'm talking about the EET Fuck) :D
Guys get obsessed by guitar and being successful at it. They enjoy the musical achievement and attention which motivates them to practice for years and years. Whatever your opinion, Kirk was immensely successful. Off the scale successful. I suspect he then got bored after about a decade of it (praise praise praise) and stopped practicing in the same way. You have to keep practicing or you lose the edge and he definitely did. He was pretty good and did some nice stuff on ride and puppets and even black. Now it's all gone. Amazing really.
how can anyone say that Hammett is overrated, not original, not skilled, bla bla bla????? maybe he has not the best technique or ability, but he started to play when most os us were on diapers, and he has achieved things that almost any other guitarist has not.... it has no sense. satriani for example is more skilled ok, but we will be always waiting he mades a solo or song like unforgiven. this is about music, life is not a guitahero videogame
I've made my way into bands like The Devil Wears Prada and August Burns Red, but nothing inspires me more than Kirk Hammett himself. - ONE of your biggest fans
Kevin Luper I know its just a chord, I never said Megadeth created it nor Kirk stole it nor Metallicas copying Megadeth. I just said it sounded like it so calm your nipples.
Ok, sorry, u just have to watch out for the fanboys in these videos...megadeth fans that _only_ like megadeth like to come to metallica videos and troll a lot...
First off it's great to see how much better Kirk has gotten at crafting solo's since Kill Em All (duh) and that 1958 Flamed Les Paul he used at 5:20 is SICK!! I'm also shocked to see how much input Lars has on each part of the process. And it's very cool to see Kirk and James doubling solos live again like they did in the old days (for those of you like me that remember the "old" days, lol). Bravo Kirk. OH and his book on Horror movie posters is awesome, check it out!!
You can play different scales or modes or particoular arpeggios like Marty Friedman does...because you can play through a power chord and portray it as a an extended chord instead of just running through the e minor pentatonic/minor. I'm here because someone told me those solos were good but they are totally trash but the last one
@Shockheadd45 yes but he's phrasing is inferior. He doesn't have the magic of a guitarist like Marty. Marty sees a power chord and see a mode or an arpeggio Implementing an harmony underneath the chord progression. Hammet is always scale oriented....sounding boring on most of his solos
Can't believe I'm saying this but after watching this i wish Bob Rock was back, at least he pushed Kirk more for a better solo, now hes just going through the motions and like Bob said..."slap any old thing on it" even though the Justice album was probably kirk's best work it now looks like Kirk has completely run out of ideas.
Yeah it's the reason alot of megadeth fans criticize metallica but it's not as simple as that because megadeth has had a rapidly revolving lineup of course their stuff is going to sound more interesting.
Harry Callahan pretty sure Dave didn't run out of ideas, he does solos in the songs too, and with himself, he can write the whole song. Megadeth is like 80's Iron Maiden to me always hear great solos. I'm not Megadeth hardcore fan but in my opinion, Metallica should just stop producing new albums.
Seriously, Kirk just keeps getting better. He needs to do a solo album. Or better (?) yet, have a chance to contribute to a complete Metallica album (as in "all songs on it") as an entirely independent, uncontrolled, fully unleashed creative force. Lars and James are just too content with the old trusted formula of making Metallica songs, which is of course understandable but certainly not in the spirit of the drive to push their boundaries they had in the earlier days.
Thought that the first solo kirk had written for the track with 'your luck runs out' was fucking amazing and origknal. Wtf is lars doing making him play the same shit over and over again? Kirk deserves a bigger more personal role and if james and lars cant have that I personally think they treat the other members like shit. Could be wrong, but I dont think Kirk shines his best at metallica...
And yet his solos are still memorable, but I know what your sayin. And the fact that you'll never get to hear his potential because James and Lars won't let him do any music outside Metallica. His personal home recordings would be cool to hear.
i dont know if youre asking about the tool or the brand so ill just answer both! tool: footswitch! it changes from clean to distortion channel ON THE AMP. brands: well james uses only the distortion he has on the amp (idk what amp). kirk does the same too but he also uses ibanez tube screamer, line 6 DL4, FM4 and MM4. and some chorus effect stompbox by boss.
^How do you explain the "one" solo? Or "the unforgiven"? Or "Fade to black" ? Seriously? Kirk doesnt suck. He sounds sloppy at times but thats because he is getting older. To say he sucks would make me assume your iq is around 75. You are hating on Kirk just because somebody has started a trend that he sucks because he has done a few mistakes.
it is lars who writes the sets for the concerts, lars who produces the albums with the studio engineers, lars who organises the band through qprime management, without lars there would be no metallica, he is a very smart man and knows how to run a band so all you little hater nobodies out there just thinking he is shit, think about it for a minute and stop whining!

Am I the only one who actually likes the wah?
No not at all :-)
The wah's overstayed its welcome. It's like Zakk Wylde with pinch harmonics, it's so common that it distracts from the song.

It looks like a Fernandes Vertigo, but the Z on the headstock leads me to think that it isn't a Fernandes.
Which guitar are you talking about? He's playing his signature Frankenstein ESP pretty much throughout.
Paddy Lee I'm talking about the guitar he's playing around 7:00.
God knows. Something with a 'z' on the headstock. Still has EMGs in it
