That hawk flying in the woods was the most awesome thing to ever see.
There's a channel called "Smarter every day" that has some pretty awesome slow motion footage of birds of prey flying. You should check it out.
I can watch it fly through forest whole day,with a nice chilling music.

All I can think about when they are showing the Goshawk is Speeder bikes on Endor.
wow! I was amazed at the falcon diving straight down ... but then even more in awe of the goshawk maneuvering thru the forest! just AWESOME.
Magnificent birds, nothing shorter than absolutely magnificent. I wish I had the time and dedication to be a falconer.

Actually, The max amount of "G's" ever recorded while a Peregrine was pulling out of a stoop was 26.4 G's. The falcon was pulling out of a dive of over 240 miles an hour. Amazing!!!
The Gos Hawk reminded me of the scene from Star Wars where they are zooming through the trees on land speeders. Amazing.

That footage w/ the Goshawk looks like something out of Sam Raimi's Evil Dead trilogy.
even if an aircraft witch can be compared to this bird was indeed invented, the issue would remain the human pilot.. humans don't have the kind of reaction time... the 'timelag' in our head and nervous system is much to slow to be able to maneuver like that. birds are truly remarkable.
+Greatmoose It's mostly because they're smaller, nerve signals take less time to travel shorter distances. Purely speculating I'd say the pathways through the brain from eyes to spinal cord would also be physically very short. Their brains also do a lot less processing than ours in general, so they can dedicate more physical space to running things in parallel, effectively shrinking how long it takes to process visual data into motor commands, and allowing them to run many physically short pathways rather than a few physically long pathways to do the same job. Neurologically speaking it's complexity vs. speed.

the amount of time we as humans have taken to evolve to become the powerhouse brains we are today, is the same amount of times every living creature has had to become a powerhouse in something else. It's just amazing.
I've loved that majestic bird since I was 4, just how incredible it strikes its prey is astonishing.
It's both remarkable and completely expected that these birds accomplish the most stunning displays of timing, agility, reflexes and fine motor control as naturally and easily as we walk.

I'v always admired the the falcon for its maneuverablility but I didn't know the goshawk had these skills.. it just might be my new favorite bird. we have hawks in missouri but idk if they can do this .

Some of that footage is really thrilling. I love the shot where the bird looks to its handler off the right side of the screen ... reminds you that you're being guided around by a living creature, and not a music video director.

Every fighter pilot would eventually panic and crash in this scenario.
...and that Goshawk...The timing...Wow...I know I'm a bit of a nerd for saying this but it reminds me of that part in Return of the Jedi where they were flying those hovering motorbike things through the Ewok forest.Lucas must have been inspired.

The Gos Hawk is the using the same controller chip responsible for the quick maneuvering techniques used in the Star Wars Speeder Bikes =P
