A £1.40 Budget Meal - It Must Be Rubbish

- We decide to have a go and shop for some budget ingredients from a supermarket and see how cheaply we can create a tasty meal for a tiny budget. We were amazed at the quality and quantity of food we were able to prepare for 2 people costing a mere £1.40 each.
Here are the ingredients to our £1.40, cooked breakfast budget meal.
1 budget breakfast pack at £1.30.
1 500 grams pack of cooking bacon at 90 pence.
1 tin of baked beans at, 27 pence.
2 eggs at 17 pence each.
All supplied from Tesco apart from the eggs that we bought at M&S

You have inspired me to create my own containers of breakfast ingredients. Usually I freeze bacon, sausage, potato patties, etc. separately after a shop. Then I have to hunt for each item. It makes sense to open the packages and create several kits for two people of bacon,sausage, hashbrown for the freezer.

With the eggs, of you put a tablespoon of water in pan with lid on, turn the heat off and the steam cooks the top and cooks them to how you want 👍
You cant please all of the people all of the time so just keep being yourselves , I think you two are great and iv learnt a lot about cooking in my airfryer since iv watched your videos I'm sure your grandchildren would soon let you know if their chicken wasn't cooked properly , lovely breakfast cheap and cheerful, well done you too take care 😊

Right, I can't keep my gob shut. To all those negative commentors and those saying the chicken was undercooked previously. If you don't like what you see then don't drag it down. Sharon is a super cook and as previously commented, would not put anyone, children or otherwise at risk with undercooked meat so draw your necks in! Also you should consider Metamerism- the effect of light on colour. The lighting conditions and source can play all kinds of tricks and, also consider this, the video is filmed using equipment that converts the RGB information to a data stream, uploads it, stores it, downloads it and transmits it over miles and miles of cables and copper wires for you to display on your screens, all of which will be calibrated differently, with varying back lighting and so on. Look at the whole picture not just the single element!

Hello guys, In Australia our power and gas costs have risen the same as everywhere else, I have changed my cooking to a induction portable stove top and an air fryer since discovering your channel. My 1st electricity bill since changing has plummeted. Haven’t used my oven for months. Thanks for all the tips and sensible recipes. Keep it coming !

That looked cooked enough to me, as was the stuff on the previous video! My late mother would have said “That’s too well done for me” - her polite euphemism for “You’ve burnt it!”.
My late father once burnt the skin on his home made Sunday rice pudding. It was black but we still ate it! He made it every Sunday but over did it that day

Yes these breakfast packs are common in Scotland and those packs of cooking bacon are amazing. I paid .85p last week bought 2 packs one held 6 smoked salmon steaks, the other was pure bacon rashers.
Loved this shows what you can do if you want too.

Thank you for another great video. That would be a great meal for anyone at any time of day and it’s so cheap. No one needs to pay a fortune for a good meal. I buy cooking bacon all the time, we love it with pasta, quiches and a bacon sandwich.

I just tried to put together about the same meal in Canada -- Pork sausages maple and brown sugar 375 grams $6.99
2 eggs large $1.16 for both
Bacon 187 grams at $4.00
Beans 1 can at 2.50
Bread - 2 rolls at $2.00 for both
Adds up to $16.65 Canadian dollars
Which converts to 9.96 pounds sterling I wouldn't be able to find this any cheaper in my city.

@@queeniemyles4028 yep it is. The average home in my area is about a million and a half dollars. We eat a lot less than we used to.
To get yellow runny and white cooked try basting them. Break into skillet with melted butter. As start to sizzle pour a tablespoon or so of tap water in and cover immediately. The yolks will develope a pink skin and they are done. No flipping is needed. My pan has a glass lid so I can watch them and as soon as the yolk goes pale pink they are done. Do your eggs last cause they take just seconds.

Oh you two are brilliant. I love your bargain shopping and the bacon was amazing price. You will always get people saying things like the chicken wasn’t cooked. You know it was that is all that matters. We can only see so much with the lighting etc and I think you both do an amazing job. Keep up the great work of bringing such great mixed content to your channel.
Good food is always the best, sometimes we have a cooked Breakfast for Teatime instead and enjoy it just as much. I'm enjoying all your videos at the moment and I've even got my REMOSKA cooking pan back out from the back of the cupboard , I know it doesn't cook as quick as my old air fryer but its very low on electric and I love using both to follow your lovely recipes 😄

Nothing like a cooked brekkie 😁 I do my egg in the airfryer too in the juices from the bacon and sausage ,I don’t fry mine on the stove anymore ,1 x M&S large egg (straight from fridge) 4 minutes at 200 ! I have the Philips xl,so you may want to check after 3 mins as I don’t know if different air fryers cook differently. I cook the egg in the cake pan ,so i can flip it over if i want to 😎 Thankyou for all your efforts,it has inspired me 💖

Can purchase the frozen square sausages in food warehouse and other freezer shops in the uk. Could make up youre own by buying all the cheaper ingredients and freezing them
People will always find fault. It's much easier to criticise from behind a screen than put themselves out there and show how they would do it. Keep doing what you do, it's as informative as it is entertaining.
Your comment on the liner meaning things won't colour/crisp in the same way as without one, it was something I was going to ask.
The cooks bacon packs are great. I use them a lot. Pick out the bigger pieces for sandwiches and use the small bits in pasta bakes in the slow cooker.
As for canned All Day Breakfast that Sharon mentioned, they're not great. I used to work at the factory that produced them. 30p for the manufacturing rejects was an OK price. Think they are £1.50 or more in the shops now, definitely not worth the price.

Look up on youtube how to make Scottish square sausage or Lorne sausage one is steak the other is beef make them using mince 😊
That looks tasty, and cheap. Cheaper than what we have to pay here in Thailand where it is supposed to have a cheaper cost of living. Those days are gone. My wife is serving me up kao tom- Chicken and rice soup. Very tasty but I keep thinking of that fryup. With mushrooms of course. Tomorrow!

That looked good, apart maybe I like my beans cooked properly in a saucepan so that the sauce is reduced a bit. I'm seriously considering a 3.8 Cosori Air Fryer myself after watching your videos. I would probably add a couple of minutes extra but I like a little more browned colour. Course I would! Hold me up Sharon… 🤣🤣

Got to be fair I have cooking bacon quite often in a sandwich after all bacon is bacon, although i normally rinse it off as its usually a bit salty!

I love fried eggs in D/B . crisper tray out spray oil put 2 cracked eggs in 360 for 5 mins I like mine runny in the middle.
Now that looks ace us diabetics would suffer but fried bread & 4 toast would make for a good sleep after 😂
