First Galleries is for BA Gold Card holders irrespective of the class of travel. The Concorde Room is for First passengers only and status is irrelevant. As you noticed, the Concorde Room is full waiter service where First Galleries is buffet style for food. You could have booked a cabana for 90 minutes which there are three in the Concorde Room. You have a TV, day bed your own bathroom and can order room service in there. I'm glad you enjoyed your experience in First. My next trip in First is at the beginning of April, not that I'm counting down or anything.

Thank you for all the info! Very helpful! It’s a shame there’s no way first timers are told any of this! I’m sure it’s on the website somewhere haha.
Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you can 😊

@ if you go onto the website and look at travel classes, select First, and it explains all aspects of both ground and air services. Knowledge and experience do play a part too. I’ve been flying with BA for 32 years so have seen lots of change over the years both good and bad.

I've flown in BA First a few times - like you, using points and companion vouchers - and have always had good experiences - especially the inflight service. Oh, and the free wifi for BAEC members is for messaging only, so probably not fast enough for serious browsing.
About the lounges: with BA Gold status or a ticket in First, you can use the First Wing (like you did) and this takes you directly into the Galleries First lounge (not 'First Class'). With a First ticket or BA Gold Guest List status, you can go through and into the Concorde Room. With a Business Class/Club ticket or BA Silver status, you use normal (or priority) check-in and security. Then you find the escalators you went down to go to your gate, go up two levels and directly above the Concorde Room is the Galleries Club Lounge which you would have access to. Blue or Bronze BA status doesn't give you lounge access, but someone could guest you in.

Wonderful bit of info here thank you for sharing! I do find it all a bit complicated and not greatly signposted / easy to navigate.
Hope this information helps others looking to travel with BA.

@@TheNextOuting Thank you! I did forget to mention two other Galleries Club lounges in T5. There's one at the North end of the main building - so the opposite end to the First Wing and the over lounges I mentioned. There's also another Galleries Club lounge in the T5 B gates concourse - if you are boarding at the B or C gates, this is often a good bet as it's usually quieter than the others.
And, of course, there's a Galleries First and a Galleries Club lounge in T3 as well.

I didn't realise you could get to the Concorde room upon your return. How does this work with security etc?

If you return to LHR in first and are travelling on with BA as we were, You have access to the CCR until your flight.

Really enjoyable video...great camera quality as well which is sometimes rare. Thanks for your honesty and keeping it 'real'... Looking forward to the next one...David

It's really hard to film whilst ensuring I'm not bothering anyone else which is the number 1 priority. Hence the voiceover and not turning all my lights on all the time haha...
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it! Hoping to get a few more nicer cabins done in the future!

Here I was hoping and praying that you didn't just stay in the 'First' lounge and found the Concorde Room. As the other viewer mentioned, the First lounge is really primarily for BAEC Gold members that are not travelling on First. Most of the food and the service is pretty much the same as the Galleries Lounge and I've found that it can sometimes get very busy in there. In fact several times, the Galleries South Lounge above it has been less busy.
Also if you're in any of the Galleries or First Lounge and it's busy, look there's a board that shows the busy-ness of the lounges, so you can wander off to the quietest one if you're struggling to find a seat.
Another tip: The Terminal 5B Lounge tends to be quieter than Galleries North and South. While you can use the train system to get there, if you have to return to Terminal 5A to board, just go one floor lower and walk back on foot in the corridor. It's a couple of minutes but not too bad. Long haul flights tend to be from B and C gates anyway. Something you might need to watch out for though is that an A-Gate departure may not show up on the board if you're at the 5B lounge, so you'd need to check your phone for the boarding gate or ask the staff at the desk in the 5B Lounge.

We travelled business to New Orleans last year and did exactly that for the Galleries lounge and used the underpass (we actually don't mind the walk ahead of the big flight so did it both ways). Really good for getting a much quieter lounge which is always at the top of our hit list. I'll take a slightly naffer lounge if its quieter haha.
Thank you for the tips - all good to know for the future and I hope it helps others!

Okay, this is a first for me….A First Class passenger staying at an Ibis Hotel!!! It’s an Accor hotel which is good but I was thinking First Class passengers stay at maybe Sofitel or Intercontinental…..That’s if you are not staying at the Lanesborough Knightsbridge. Very good review though.

    • @TheNextOuting

Hahaha I love a bargain… plus I only checked in very late the night before so wasn’t any point in splashing on a hotel (flight even with points still cost enough haha).

Great vid, such a shame that BA amenity kit is pants especially in First

What other sort of things would you expect to see in similar cabins elsewhere? Or is it the general quality which you think is poor?

    looks like a 777-200ER, not a 787!

You are correct according to Flightera.
Although it lists it as -300ER. Apologies and thanks for the correction, I shall update the video title.

Personally, I wouldn't give them the money - - - - not worth it, what was it about 11 hours?? I'd rather go economy and have a decent stay when I got there. The only way I'd be going 1st class is if it was an upgrade or a freebie.
But maybe that's just me........ married with twin girls, so I'm not exactly flush with dosh

I still fly Ryanair all the time (but don’t review those flights haha), this was a nice treat! I also used a lot of Amex points to pay for the bulk of it (except taxes).
