- What does one ask a living legend? Someone who saw firsthand that age of Camelot when Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was alive and performing?
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan left us too soon. We all are still listening to his compositions. I see youth who were born after Khan sahib’s death swaying to his qawwalis. And that makes my heart happy and a little sad that such a giant is no longer amongst us. But Dildar sahib is alive and well (thank God!) and with his sons, is carrying on the legacy of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. In this interview, I got the rare opportunity to ask Dildar sahib about the time of Camelot and to probe the process used by the NFAK troupe to compose and perform such memorable qawwali. Listen and be amazed by the simplicity and the musical genius of this man.
Dildar hussain himself might not know what a true legend he is..extremely humble and down to earth person..love him...wish him best health and long life

They have worked together a lot - in fact Rahat did a concert with the legend himself in UK.
Rahat offered him many times but Dildar Sahab is pure soul. he decided to teach his students and children instead of playing concert for money. what a humble man
rahat is very egoistic man he will never become like the great nusrat sahab he does not meet these legends

What a beautiful interview. Ustad Dildar is the legend who accompanied Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan in almost all of his performances. The sound of his tabla is very crisp and clear and amazing.

I wish the question was asked of Dildar: Don't his left fingers and hand get tired or injured after non-stop frantic playing in a concert with hardly any breaks? Anybody on Dildar's answer if you know? Please post. Thanks. Percussion is always under-rated.
I also do a but of qawali. You can see on my channel. The fact is that during qawali there is a samaa which even if you play for 6 hours you will not feel it during the samaa. Once you end the show, then you realize how tired you are
Great artists. But never went to school. Even Urdu is difficult. Punjabi little better I guess. But this is his longest talk ever in his life. Great.

Thx for doing interview I wanted u ask more about how khan shaab used to make new tones.. Wt was his state of mind..in nights he used to work hard in nights on new tones... I can't explain but more and more need to b asked about nusrat shab.. Specially new tones.. Becoz he had this thing which no other human has ever achieved
