If Dan Marino's 1984, 1985, 1986 stats were pro-rated to today's averages, it works out to 6,800 yards and 64 touchdowns per season. THAT is how far ahead of everyone he was during that time. He was throwing for 2018 type stats in an era where the averages were 3,400 yards and 22 tds for the leaders. If you took the worst 16 game QB stats of 2018 and gave to them to someone in 1985... they would have been a Hall of Famer. The game has drastically changed.
@Oyasumi False. He threw for 48 TDs in 1984, 44 TDs in 1986, and 30 TDs multiple times. You must have confused him with Joe Montana or some other 80's QB.
If I remember correctly, the pass rushers were allowed three steps before hitting the QB after the ball was thrown in Marino's era. This means the quarterbacks could legally get the snot knocked out of them after they threw the ball. There was definitely no football move rule. The second a receiver touched the ball, he was fair game to get murdered by a safety or linebacker. They weren't walked off the field by a ref if they showed signs of a concussion. If the receivers were conscious, they went back to the huddle and tried to make sense of the play being called, then lined up to do it again. If people in this era are getting over 5,000 yards on a regular basis, I agree with Dan's exaggeration on his numbers. He would have thrown for 6,000 yards in a season if he played with Duper and Clayton in 2019.

That' why Marino, Montana were shadow of their former self, phisically, at 32-33 year old, while now they can play even at 40! Tha's why I think it's just useless to compare them to todays qb: for the QB is a totally different game, you could'nt thrown away any pass (if it was a pass, you know you're gonna be hit, hard, no matter what), you could hit the qb everywhere (under the kneed, his head, arm, every body part was actually fair game)

It's a shame that Marino was never able to play good enough to help his team win a S.B. But as a result he Never Reached The Pinnacle of His Profession.
Dan played far better than it takes to get into the Superbowl
No defense was the reason .
Dan had the mark brothers
@@duypham76 Too bad neither of them could play linebacker or defensive end.
He played good enough it was the players around him
It’s a team game. Montana had a good defense , great rb team. Same for Brady with defense and good running backs
Marino, biggest choke artist ever?
Tony Romo has better overall stats than Dan Marino
Lmfao ,
Tony , not near a top 10 would not be allowed to wash Dan's jock
@@ynot6781 Romo is a 65% completion rating for his career, Marino is 59 . marino had 3 good years and several mediocre. Both of them failed when it mattered most
Romo played in a QB-friendly era compared to Marino
@@syxx242 Marino’s greatness wasn’t based on his ability to win big games, he didn’t have a talented enough team for that, he literally may be the most talented thrower of all time that’s what separates him from others and that’s why he’s so known and popular as “one of the greats” why else would he be if he never won a ring? That’s just how good he was, I’m a die hard Dallas fan and the talent romo had there’s absolutely no excuse why he couldn’t of atleast made it past the divisional round.. talent wise him and Marino are nowhere near eachother and the stat difference is the fact they both played in completely different times
Lol Tony Ramen Noodles isn't in the same league as Dan Marino. That's hilarious. Romo played with superteams and still couldn't win a playoff game.
All old heads say stuff like this. He’d be trash in today’s game.
Dude you are so wrong.
Lol today’s game is soft af, Dan would dominate
Dan Marino, biggest choker in sports history.
Nice bait
hahahaha dan NORINGSo
How does it feel to be a fuckwit? Good luck achieving what Marino did, u pelican. 🤣🤣🤣
Marino didn't have a good offensive line to protect him. Didn't have a good running back. And only had both recievers Duper and Clayton for briefly in his career. And the defense wasn't much either. Despite that Marino had every passing record for many years.
Mike Peliquino should of been a pilgrim or a swaney.
