  • Following the devastation of a flood in 2013, Cathryn Royer's clients embarked on a quest to rebuild, prioritizing an open concept that seamlessly integrated the lush outdoor surroundings. With a meticulous eye for detail, they reimagined the space, optimizing natural light and panoramic river views.
Maintaining the original layout and foundation, the home was reoriented to capture the essence of the landscape, incorporating expansive windows that invite the outside in. Throughout the airy, open-concept design, cozy seating nooks were strategically placed, harmonizing indoor and outdoor elements.
Drawing inspiration from Scandinavian aesthetics, Cathryn curated a palette of soft greens, terracotta, and black, echoing the changing colors of the outdoors. Flooring choices were deliberate, with porcelain tile and engineered white oak lending a sense of continuity and warmth.
Lighting played a pivotal role in enhancing the natural ambiance, with fixtures crafted from natural materials like selenite crystals and wood, echoing the home's connection to the environment. Antique treasures collected over three decades were seamlessly integrated into the modern design, creating a timeless appeal.
The dining room boasts a custom-built square table perfect for family gatherings, while the family room features a deep window seat, affectionately dubbed the "grandchildren seat," offering a cozy retreat for reading and play.
Embracing the art of pattern and texture layering, inspired by travels and English finesse, each space was thoughtfully curated to reflect the unique personality of its occupants. From the fireplace design to the intricate details of the staircase, every element was carefully considered to create a harmonious blend of comfort and sophistication.
