Harvesting My DIY Raised Garden Bed!

- My mom and I had a wonderful summer garden harvest! My 3-layer raised garden bed did very well this year compared to my first two years. In my last garden update, I added an extra layer of cedar wood and bought raised garden bed soil that seemed to work well for my plants. I might have overcrowded some of them and still don't really know how to grow leafy greens, but this year was considered a big success for us :) I now need to look into planting garlic for the fall and preparing tulips for the spring! Can't wait to start gardening again after we go through the long Canadian winter.

Would you invest in building a raised garden bed like this? Personally yes, I would do it again if we had space! :D
You've inspired me, I'm building one of these with the same planter blocks right now!
It is very rewarding to harvest your OWN veggies even if you have only a pocket vegetable garden.
Every year, you will enhance your garden, and that is for sure! Have a companion plants. Mixed of herbs, flowers & veggies (leafy, root crops & trellis/vine).
Make a homemade fpj etc... fertilizer
Trim the leaves so all the energy will go directly to your fruit.

I just want you to know I followed your build guide and made mine almost exactly the same, only I used a cattle panel trellis over the little indent of the garden.
My plants are FLOURISHING! I actually kind of overplanted, so now we have more cucumbers and string beans than we know what to do with! The peppers are starting to come in, we just used our first ripe jalapenos this week, along with our first ripe eggplant. We grew some swiss chard, and have been able to harvest it twice!
This has been such a wonderful, joyous project for the summer, WAY better than my previous efforts of just growing things in pots on my deck. Thank you for sharing your videos!
That is so awesome to hear! I need to get my hands on a cattle trellis one day and I’m happy you are getting lots of growth in your garden! Thanks for watching and sharing your results! 😊
The chopstick grabbing the earwig 😂
Great video! I and my husband really like your garden and your positive attitude. We’re doing our garden for the first time here in Maryland, USA.
So excited for you! Thanks for watching and happy gardening :D
Hi there. Are you going to do another video on this this year? It would be nice to see what you planted and the progress. I built my own little raised beds because of these videos you made so thank you!!!
Hi! Yes I will be filming an update as some of my plants grow a bit bigger. I have planted bittermelon, brocooli, carrots, tomatoes, eggplant, peas, garlic and lettuce so far. I'm glad you were able to build you own as well!
I found your channel when looking for new garden planter ideas. I love your garden and the way you have it set up!
Just subscribed 😊
Thank you for sharing your experiences and what you changed. Your choices for vegetables included some I wouldn’t have thought of but will now try. 😁
I love you narrator.
Beautiful garden 💜👩🍳
Wow so happy for you. I just ordered garlic tto plant
Thanks! Hope you get a great garlic harvest :)
What fabric finally worked well? Can you post the weed control fabric link?
How is yout garden going this year? I would say your yield was less because of how crowded it was. Try to grow the large vining plants elsewhere, they are taking over your bed.
I'm trying to place my vining plants at the back so it doesn't block the sunlight of other plants this year :D Also trying some shorter veggies this year with lettuces, broccoli, carrots, peppers, eggplant, okra and garlic! We'll see how it goes :o
That's a good wee harvest! What do you think will be the most important thing you've learned this year ready to improve for next year?
Thank you! I learned how to start seeds indoors and plant them at the right time this year and next year I want to improve the spacing and layout of the vegetables. I will be looking into companion planting and a way to help my vining plants grow tall without blocking the sunlight for other plants :D
What do you do with all the vegetation after the harvest?
We pull all of the plants out of the soil and put it with our yard waste around the time we rake the fall leaves. The city composts it and last year they gave out 2 free bags of compost for families to collect if they wanted, which ofc i did 😊
