    In every must read book for SE engineers you will encounter Code complete. You are absolutely right sir, i am a student of iqra Uni karachi main campus. I always look for CS books in the library, but I hardly find any of the recommended books. please continue your book series. If you may share your opinion on the Donald Knuth book on algorithms, which is highly regarded.

    • @recluze
      @recluze  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      A.A. Knuth's Art of Programming is an amazing book but it's pretty dense. So, it's good if you can read it but it's not 'genearl advice' for everyone.
      BTW, he wrote the whole TeX system for this book.... goes to show how much effort went into this book.

      Haven't read that particular book. I generally recommend the "Corman" book for algos. • @ahsanhafeez7631
      @ahsanhafeez7631 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      He is not saying that solving leetcode problem is bad take a look at his video first about leetcode all what he is saying is that modern software development is all about code readability and maintainability performance comes second while plattfroms lome leetcode codchef
      interviewbit etc encourages you to write unreadable code to improve performance for example not calling fucntion and writing code in one place which makes code unreadable and non re use able so they basically encourage you to follow bad coding practice once you understand it then you can definitely solve problem from any Platt from but just follow good coding practice

    Bhai .I am in first year IT .Here in India DSA is very important to get a job in most of the companies because their hiring criteria requires DSA rounds. 2-3 DSA rounds are required apart from development project..
    I am currently learning DSA .but you said that DSA isn't that important for software development. That creates a doubts

    • @ahsanhafeez7631
      @ahsanhafeez7631 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      He never said dsa is not important may be there's mistake in your interpretation in india there are big mnc like google Microsoft amazon etc and majority students Target those companies so its essential to do dsa in depth for that sir has opinion that some dsa topics are more important than other so he focus more on those topics which are used in day to day programing and skip some topics which are only asked once in interview like he didn't covered avl ,trie,dp, greedy and others and in graph he covered only one algorithms Dijkstra that doesn't mean that these are not important it's just mean that in limited time that he had in semester these are good starting point and you can explore these topics later on bcz they improves logic building and improve code efficiency so conclusion is dsa is important especially for cs student bcz this is one of those subject which differentiate degree holder from some person with some certification but once you learned and code those topics you will and should not write code for that again instead you should use libraries and built in fucntion bcz they are more optimized

    • @recluze
      @recluze  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Appreciate the detailed answer Ahsan. @Bilal ... it is important to do DSA well to get a deeper understanding of CS. Please go through the first video on te "data structures" playlist for details. It's just that if you spend too much time on DSA, you will turn out to be the same as everyone else with not much to differentiate yourself.

      See his os course in which he connects to cloud machine via ssh once your comfortable with cli and systems administration you will not have any difficulty in cloud which is basically system and provides you with cli even if you don't have acces to cloud you can still apply most concepts on virtual machine or docker etc

    Sir this book is older more than 20 years, A lot of stuff or if i amn't wrong more than 80% of computers functions, feartures, softwares, programming methods and Ai has joind the chats in every field can we say this book is still useful for today's SEs?
    Baked by Ai 🔽
    Given that technology has evolved significantly over the past 20 years, with advancements in computer functions, features, software, programming methods, and AI, it's questionable whether a book of that age remains entirely relevant for today's software engineers.

    • @recluze
      @recluze  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This is why you shouldn't be asking "AI" for deep questions. Yes, the advice in the book is still relevant. Underlying principles of things do not change so quickly.

      Assalamu'alaikum. Appreciate your kind words. For specific answer to your question, please go through the "How to approach learning" playlist. It will give you a lot of things you can do. If you don't want to do too much, I would recommend going through the intro to computing playlist and then watch the "boost your BS" series of videos. That should not take more than a year of part-time effort and it can really help you excel.
      Other than that, please have someone from Jamia to me. I would be honoured if there is something I can help out with in the curriculum or providing support.

      For begginers his recommendation is "Introduction to Computation and Programming Using Python With Application to Understanding Data" By John V. Guttag see his intro to computing playlist in which he had recommended this book and that playlist is all his suggestion to begginers
