Assalam-u-alaikum Sir. I've watched several of your videos and it cleared a lot of confusions that I had regarding degree choice. I have a question regarding my career. I am a self-taught web developer and I use React and Tailwind. I'm also thinking about learning MERN for full-stack and I've taken a course on that as well. What I want to know is how should I approach the market? I'm going to uni this fall so I thought maybe I should join a software house and get experience at an internship or part time job because these days even entry-level jobs have ridiculous requirements like 3+ years of experience. There's also the problem that there aren't that many jobs in the market as I've seen. Every positing gets hundreds, if not thousands of applications and since I don't have uni degree I think that might be why I'm not being considered because when it comes to skills, I'm pretty confident in them and I feel like I can do a very good job if given the chance. Also do you have any suggestions in the "Software Development" field because I'm very interested in anything that involves coding or programming like web development, app development, ai, etc so is there anything apart from web development that I should consider as a possible career?

W.S. Jazakallah for your comment. If you like that course, you might want to view the probability playlist (and first 5-6 lectures of numerical computing as well.)
What about the courses like, Islamiyat & Pak. Studies, which we've been studying from grade 1 to 12, and in university we also study the same syllabus or content ?
That's a good question. Essentially, I don't have issue with these (and other social sciences/management subjects). Students are now more mature and if a teacher is capable enough, s/he can discuss more important life-affecting issues in these subjects. Same is the case with management subjects. There are important concepts there which can help make a more well-rounded individual. Of course, this all depends on how good a teacher you get. That, unfortunately, is where we suffer. Most teachers don't have real world knowledge to justify teaching these subjects.
Sir, as you said you have to compete to the world specifically as a computer science student, nobody in the world know there's a university called FAST best for CS in Pakistan unless they have good FAST graduate. I would say university does matter in local market to some extent but doesn't matter in the global market. And If anyone aims towards global market, he/she definitely know he/she need to standout from the crowd by putting some serious in maintaining the discipline. Definitely, good teacher and good university help you in this regard else he/she have to do it his/her own.
Assalam-o-Alaikum! My question is regarding the career change. I hope I get the answer on this 6 months old video. What is the entry path for a BSc Civil Engineer into the field of Computer Sciences? Should One go for the MS CS and then cover the BS subjects through self learning?
W.S. Apologies for late response. I've been under the weather. Change of field is not that difficult technically. Unfortunately, some stupid people will create hurdles for you. For example, if you have a BS in civil engineering, even if you do PhD in CS, you will be hard put to find a teaching job in CS departments as they will disqualify you for your BS. If you want to go into software development etc, you don't need to do an MS in CS or anything. Just learn programming and the latest stuff and your degree wouldn't matter much. If you find out you need a degree, you can do an MS in CS from any university part time to fulfil the requirement. The more skill you have, the better your chances of working in CS. Hope that was useful.

There are many crucial courses like Prob and Stats, Computer Architecture and Calculus etc. I am not able to come up with sufficient time and a good strategy to manage uni and personal learning side by side. Can you give me an advice on this?
W.S. I'm afraid the answer is quite long. However, the short answer is that you need to discipline yourself. This is the only time in your life when you can actually learn something on your own. Put your time wasting hobbies aside (you can still do good, constructive hobbies). You will have time for those later. Invest your time in your work and surround yourself with people who want to learn and excel.
I highly recommend you go through the "how to approach learning" playlist. It answers your question in a lot of detail with concrete steps on what to do.

Sir you are indeed a good counselor. Can you pls help us in choice of career? I mean most of us don't know what their interests are? What should they study? And how to find the thing they are good in?
This is a very common problem. If you are already in computing, there is a way to figure out what you are interested in. I have a full playlist on that. If you don't even know what domain you want to go in (Medical, engineering, computing, law, etc.) then it's another discussion altogether and quite difficult to have in TH-cam comments.
Very true sir. Actually I am preparing for mdcat and I wanted to have a second option. So I thought computer science would be the best for this purpose. At first, I thought about Cyber security but then I saw a video of yours that best is to opt for computer science instead of Cyber security or any other field. Many people say that the scope of computer science is not that high in Pakistan. There is an overproduction of software engineers and consequently unemployment. But I think that it is because they don't have the skill but a mere degree. Am I Right?
You are spot on about people not having the skills when they graduate. I have a student who graduated with 2.2 GPA but got a job way above average starting pay (even before getting the final transcript) simply because he had demonstrable skill. So, if you put in the effort and study smart, you can really excel in computing. Best of luck with whatever field you choose.

In my view, 3 is good enough as long as you have great skills and do projects in different technologies. Watch the "how to approach learning" playlist for more on this.
Sir, can you make a video on why universities do not teach students how to make money in the real world by their skills, country laws, taxes, and stuff that are very important in daily life.
Oh definitely. A hundred percent agreed. I have similar thoughts about the more popular schools though. It's the actual critical thinking that needs to be established, not just being in a famous school.
@@recluze definitely. But famous schools (though famous for all the wrong reasons) still get few things better than avg schools. One particular thing that catch my eye is extra curricular activities. They might look pompous but they play great role( maybe schools dont even aim for that and its a bonus let's say) in making up personality and character of kids later in life.
Sir , my question is k how to become a university lecturer .. ham kasy govt lecturer bn skty hn ... I'm student of MS Software Engineering (1st semester)...plz guide me ...k ma kasy is post tak pohanch skta hu
I am currently enrolled in university which is ranked (150) across the world, the points which you have raised are absolutely right but the scenario is bit different here students are not forced to take useless course , if an electrical engineer is interested in majoring computer science related field he is allowed to do so, moreover the practical work is emphasized more here in addition to that quality of teaching is research oriented. Problem with Pakistani universities is that if they try to go slightly advanced students are unable to catch up the pace that's why they choose a solution which is better for larger audience. I remember in 2019 one of our teacher in Pakistani university wanted to teach machine learning course, he got resistance from administration, eventually he lost interest and we student started cursing university is bad bla bla. I would request you to please have detailed discussion on this topic an extend version (breaking each year of 4 years of degree program) , what exactly student should do . I like your teaching style your courses , you are very honest and fearless person. You put so much effort in your teaching, you are truly an asset. Please upload these kind of videos on bi-monthly basis, humble request.
Thank you so much for your detailed and insightful comment. Highly appreciate it. Regarding your points: 1. Yes, that's how coursework should be approached. We keep pushing towards it but governing bodies seem to be too stagnant. 2. I do have a detailed plan of how to approach BS best. I cover that in several videos (link in description of this video). I am also publishing all the courses I can online so that students can take courses with an updated curriculum that is (in my humble opinion) more useful. In any case, please do keep providing feedback and insights to me through your comments. I will look forward to hearing more from you in the future.

Assalam o alikum sir i would really appreciate if u read my whole comment and reply me Sirr i m really confused these days i belong to a middle class family i have finished my second year and cannot be able to find admission in good universities right now i have 3 options either i can get admission in virtual university get my degree from there and as u know there is no issue of attendence there so in the mean time i will work in software houses and that will sharpen my software skills and give me some experience 2 option is i can get admission in a private university both will have the same expenses 3 option is i can repeat my year and again give entry test with more hardwork and get a admission in government university its not that i cannot afford private uni virtual + software house will have the same expenses but the thing is which one is more fruitful or i can just repeat my year please please reply

Sir we need a complete video on skills required in bs Cs
Watch the How to approach learning playlist. Most of that is covered there.
AOA Sir, Loving your videos from last 4 years, just want to say make a detailed video for students who want to do MS abroad in Computer Science. (discussing Admission issues and overall steps), also for students who have less CGPA in bachelor's program, how they can take admission for MS abroad. Thank You
Inshaallah. Thanks for the suggestion.
Does gpa matter like do we have to stay above 3.5 3.7 gpa or around 3 is good enough?
In my view, 3 is good enough as long as you have great skills and do projects in different technologies. Watch the "how to approach learning" playlist for more on this.
@@recluze jazakAllah sir for your response :)
as for this video i wrote "degree vs skill fast professor peshawar"'' kyunki mujhe apke channel name bilkul mind me nahi araha tha....
Sir, can you make a video on why universities do not teach students how to make money in the real world by their skills, country laws, taxes, and stuff that are very important in daily life.
Balance approach. I would digress a bit and say that better schooling trumps both Uni and Personal skills in later life.

Regarding your points:
@@recluze Thanks a lot respected professor, I have recommended your channel in several groups and whenever anybody ask me for "machine learning , i recommend yours " (will be waiting for updated 2021-course also, ha haha). Yes i have seen the video which you mentioned earlier, it is quite good. Please do this nice work, i know it takes lot of effort and extra time but hopefully you will take that. God bless you sir
@@SaddamHussain-ny4sp A 2022 version is in the plan inshaallah but I have a few more things to take care of first. If you haven't seen my "Practical Deep Learning" course, please do take a look. Sir which uni would you recommend private or goverment i have both choices so what should i choose?
Watch my video on "degree vs skills". This question is answered there. Short answer is that if you can choose between any university and finances are not an issue, go with a university which is "famous" and then do the learning yourself if they aren't teaching the right stuff.
1st comment sir
I was wondering when I would get one of these =]
