In this lesson I'll answer a viewer question on the topic of accenting notes while strumming. This is tricky to get the hang of, but is an absolutely essential skill as you move into the world of intermediate strumming techniques. In many cases, it'll let you take strumming patterns you already know - and level them up by emphasizing certain notes on the thinnest few strings.
In this lesson, I'll walk you through five exercises - each of which builds off the last - helping you get up to speed with things. My suggestion is you bake these into your practice routine, and with some time you'll develop the muscle memory needed to put this to use whenever you choose. I'll be using a riff inspired by Green Day's "Time of Your Life", which makes good use of this technique over the G Cadd9 and D chords. Let's get to it!
    - 0:00 Overview
    - 1:27 Exercise #1: Up-Strum Muscle Memory
    - 4:05 Exercise #2: Don't Strum All the Strings?
    - 5:56 Exercise #3: Using Filler Strums
    - 7:48 Exercise #4: Using Bass-Note Strums
    - 9:16 Exercise #5: Putting It All Together

Just want to say I love the lessons etc.
    Two requests from me
    1. Make a 10 song course for beginners that people would sing to. Easy for a starter to build their repertoire.
    2. Build a course (for sale) to take people from nothing to gigging solo or in a band. What do they need to know? Techniques, chords, theory, gear etc.
What is the quickest path? Make it and I'll buy it ❤

Brilliantly simple yet rewarding lesson. Love how you break this down to achievable sections. I've gone from strumming to picking out the notes. Love it.

Wow… once again, a spot on lesson, extremely well explained, broken down into progressively harder exercises, and all of it in service of a song I would really want the play. After watching this I feel like I could actually acquire the skill you showed. Thanks again.

I visit numerous guitar websites because I am obsessed with the guitar. But, I really suck at playing my guitar (I have 3). My overwhelming problem is imprecise sound generation. This lesson about muffled sound is spot on for me. I am the king of muffled sound. I am going to diligently apply your tips and redouble my practice efforts. Thanks so much for your excellent coaching. Ciao

Sounds very similar to “Get Along” by Chesney. Would like to see a lesson.
