    Thanks in advance for taking the painstaking, time consuming task of figuring out less costly solutions for different pressure washers. Even though you might have a monetary gain from doing so, I am sure it’s not something that you are passionate about doing. So I, and I am sure many others appreciate the effort you are putting into this and doing this for us. ( you truly are evolving lol) I am not a professional detailer, just a guy that enjoys detailing and keeping their vehicles looking nice. It’s not that I can’t afford a $1200 pressures washer, It’s that I can’t justify buying a $1200 pressure washer. I wash my cars maybe 20-25 times a year, and I can’t wrap my head around the fact that the Kranzle will make my car wash experience that much more enjoyable over say a AR Blue. I have the rupes mark ll, tub of microfiber and two shelves of products, it adds up. Actually I don’t even want to think about how much it would add up too. I do look forward to videos of other more affordable options, thanks again.

      Although, I'm largely chasing the passion and sharing the products that I have the most interest, I do see those that aren't able to at this time or maybe just don't value an expensive pressure washer as my future long-term customers. Those that are willing to upgrade those machines to improve the experience will likely also be interested in other things I have to offer as well.

    Wow! Yes thanks for this information. I have a 3200psi and 2.5gpm gas pressure washer. It was not purchased for washing cars but for projects around the house.
    However, I have been wanting to add washing our cars to things the pressure washer can do. I used the supplied 40 degree tip and gun that came with the pressure washer. But, in the back of my mind, I thought it was to much pressure.
    So, I ended up ordering the MTM Hydro gun and wand kit and after watching this video also ordered a 4.0 and 5.0 nozzle to see which one feels better and safer for use with my pressure washer. The larger the hole in the nozzle should bring the pressure down to the preferred 1000 psi. Hope it works!

    I am technical type of person and definitely enjoyed the video. My pressure washer was given to me by my dad along time or I would probably already have a Kranzle K1322TS. Mine lacks ts which is something I would really like to have. But other than that it seems pretty dam close to the output of the Kranzle ( my neighbor has the K1322TS). I just thought I would put it out there as a option for people who can't spend 1k.

    Hopefully this is relevant. I have a gas powered Ryobi 2800psi 2.3gpm pressure washer. I've been using your 4.0 40° orifice. On my pressure washer it felt like I had too much pressure. Last week I bought a 4.5 and 5.0 40° orifices. After trying both I've decided to stick with the 5.0. I haven't been obsessed as you and I didn't test it scientifically with a gauge but I'm happiest with the feel of the 5.0

    I used your video to figure out a 5.5 size nozzle would be the best option for my 3100 psi 2.8GPM gas motor, I wanted a safer tip for washing my car and this video helped me figure out what I needed to get to ~1000 psi according to your ratings the old tip was a 3.0 tip and supposedly would dump 3400 PSI but the unit is only rated for 3100 so I get what you mean by saying that there's some efficiency loss when the motor can only bring out so much, in other words the motor is a bottleneck for the system, makes sense, but your chart works great for down shifting the numbers.

    On my Karcher K7, wich is rated 10l/min and 160bar maximum, i made a test, i collect the water in one minute to see if i collect 10l. First, with machine on without a nozzle, i collect 10l, second i put the nozzle and i collect the same amount, 10l. difference was that with nozzle, the pump will delivery more bar, pressure.

    So the gage was measuring back pressure in the line.., probably why when attempting to shove the same force (horsepower) and flow (gpm) from 6.0 through 4.0 orafice back pressure increased. But does pressure at the face of the nozzle change to almost that gage pressure reading or if not, does it actually almost double as observed here?
    What is the impact at the front of the nozzle, after the water actually traveled through the main variable that changed... the orafice. is there a way to measure or calculate that i wonder. (load changed so how motor responds is another of probably many variables).
    I totally understand selecting the correct size orafice to put the right load on your pump that makes sense and is shown by the gage test.
    Thanks for the video.

    Great video, and I love the details and not rushing it along !! I have a Karcher K5 which I believe is 1.4 gpm and 2000 psi, so would my oriffice choice for nozzle tips be 2.5 ? Thanks....newbie here

  • @youngblood23rb
    @youngblood23rb 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The 2.1 or rated gpm is the max output of the motor (HP) and pump at max current flow of supplied voltage. A 0 degree nozzle equals 100 percent output, 15 degree nozzle decreases output by 70%, 40 degree by 88%, according to Krenzle. An orifice just increases or decreases back pressure on the pump, which can make the pump work harder, create more heat, wear, etc. It is best to stay near the recommended orifice size of the manufacture. A pressure washer is a PD pump, max output is max output, as Matt said there is no way to increase the Max Output.

    Great video, man I was kind of hearing myself in my head when you talked about the progression and the difference things. That's what I commented on your Sun Joe video as that's the route that I took. 200% agreed man, all about progression, great the idea about more packages, no question Kranzle is far superior in every way, but an inexpensive Sun Joe spx3000 for example, will get the job done for anyone thinking of getting into foaming with a pressure washer, plus it's way better than a garden hose and foam gun. If I understood correctly, you're going to offer the prototype nozzle in different orifice sizes?, hope that's the case, because I'm getting them for sure. I got the mtm swivel from mtm for the SG28 complete package I got from you and IMO having a swivel is a must, I maybe regretting not getting at least SGS28 or the mosmatic gun right away, but hey, it's all about progression, trial and error. It's not really what's the best and expensive, if it fn works doesn't matter to me if it is expensive or not, if that's what I want. Keep doing crazy man, for sure you're making us car guys/enthusiasts life easier with what you are doing. BTW, I'll bet you gave that ceiling a good clean 🤣🤣🤣

      The 1.25mm orifice is what I use, but that will work the pump harder. You'll pull almost 18A, so you really need to run it on a dedicated 20A circuit. If you move to a 1.5mm orifice, then you can run it on most 15A circuits.

    So Matt the big issue would be when we use the c.r filters they say do not exceed 2.5 gpm or the filters can not keep up and clean the water. So if I have a pressure washer that is rated at 2.8 gpm I need to slow that flow down in order to use the filter but pressure is the enemy when using for washing cars so how would u slow down the flow without increasing the pressure. I look at it like a transformer voltage goes down but current goes up if current goes down voltage goes up so I need to find a way to build in losses somewhere almost like Eddie currents or core losses in said transformer. This of course untill I can buy a custom setup from u.

      2.9 needs a 6.0 nozzle.

      3.5 or 4 is good then?

    • @ObsessedGarage
      @ObsessedGarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will get a lot of pressure at that small of an orifice. I would suggest going with a bigger 6.0. That will get you around 1000PSI.

    Matt, you better be careful! You're gonna hurt all these instagram heroes' egos when they realize their favorite 15 degree tip is actually dangerous like everyone's been telling them!
    Two suggestions for you:
    1.) In the fire service, gauges like you showed are often inserted inline to the hose just before the appliance (nozzle) to measure pressure and flow as close to the tip as possible. This is because of the friction loss through the hose and couplings. You may want to consider moving the gauge to the output QD with the nozzle directly in the output of the gauge to take into account the additional loss of the gun itself. The gauge would then be reading effectively the 'back pressure' or the pressure being exerted back on the gauge from the restriction of the nozzle.
    2.) Regarding burning out the motor, you should be able to put one of those wall plug meters on the machine that will display the power draw on a digital display. I forget if they measure in wattage or amperage, but it's an easy conversion either way. That should show you if the draw changes any depending on what nozzle you're using. Worst case, you could use a clamp on meter on the cable of the washer itself to see the difference in draw.

    If iGet a bigger orifice like a 5.0Size do u think 2.0 GPM would be possible? Or atleast better than the rated1.2

    • @ObsessedGarage
      @ObsessedGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Pumps have output limitations. It may not have enough power to produce pressure with that sized orifice.

      @@ObsessedGarage iHave a 40° degree nozzle that says 40040 on it ,does that mean 40 degree and 4.0 orifice? If so I'm getting great GPM/psi with that. wondering 5.0 orifice would be also run reasonably like iam with the 4.0 orifice ihave currently.

    Matt, any news on international shipping yet? I'm building out my wall mounted pressure washing solution and its been a pain in the ass. The shipping cost alone has been 150 bucks so far and i'm still not done. Its a pain in the ass to get stuff in Malaysia. It took me a month to get my fittings and couplers from ebay and now as they arrive I realise that they don't fit! I'd rather just pour my money on your store just to have the peace of mind that crap will just work when they arrive.

    Let me see if we can help each other out here. Pumps put out flow. Pressure is resistance to flow. By changing your orifice size , you can not overwork your pump. Pressure is equal and undiminished in all directions. See Pascals law. This means adding a wand extension will not change your pressure. As pressure increases, flow decreases, and vice versa. Pumps bypass internally when there is nowhere for the flow to go. I was starting to think by using a wider nozzle spray pattern (say 40 degrees compared to 25 degrees) my pressure would decrease, because wider spray patterns had different size orifices. But as far as I can tell, the orifice sizes on all my nozzles are the same. The sizes are partially obstructed from view by the colored tops they are mounted in. These were nozzles included with my gas powered ryobi 2.7 gpm, 3000 psi rated machine. Maybe you can help me out there. Its apparent the tighter spray patterns put out more pressure, which would mean a smaller orifice, but from what I can see of the sizes on the nozzle, they all appear to be the same

    Confused here...at 21:08 you mention the wand doesn't affect the pressure? When you put the wand on, the PSI is 1800? How does a 40/25/15/0 degree nozzle get you 900psi(to 1100).

      Sorry I was thinking high pressure. You do not need high pressure. One that will work on a garden hose is good enough, because you can measure flow anywhere in the system and it won't matter, including before the pump. I've seen a few around $30 on amazon.
