  • Hi everyone, I just wanted to document and share a part of my college applications (even if they are a little embarrassing). This was one of the most stress-inducing, tear-inducing, and tiring processes I've done but if anyone has any questions feel free to leave them below!

    Hi everyone I ended up posting my common app and UC essays on TikTok! I'm still considering making a video going in depth about my stats, essays, and ecs for the future but you can read my common app and more on my TikTok: 4mandahh

    Congrats, I hope you are enjoying school!! just curious, what majors did you apply with? Also, what did you talk about in your essays...would you make a video?

    • @4mandah
      @4mandah  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I applied under bioengineering or chemical engineering. My supplemental essays really just talked about extracurriculars and my interest in STEM. For my common app, it was more personal, and may do a video on it in the future but I'm not sure right now.

    Can you make a video about your extracurriculars and awards you put on the nyu application and advice that you can give because I'll be going through the application process next year. Also, congratulations!!

      Thank you so much! I don't think I'll be filming a stats video at this time but most of my extracurriculars were pretty basic. I did recreational dance both inside and outside of school along with a bunch of school clubs. One extracurricular I think really helped me stand out was an internship I did with my county's government I was able to get a letter of rec from my supervisor and also write a few supplemental essays on it. I really only have some basic tips but I was lucky enough to have a college counselor and would 100% recommend having one. If that's not something you're able to do you can also get teachers and friends to read and edit your essays. Try to stand out as much as you can, pretty much everyone applying to NYU has around the same GPA so stand out in extracurriculars and essays! That being said college is what you make of it so don't let decisions tear you down. If you have any more questions I'd be happy to answer them either here or you can message me on IG: amanda.gong_ 💗

      @@mahogany.3751 My supervisor actually offered to write it for me but don't be scared to ask! Whether it's shooting an email or talking to them in person most will be willing to write them as long as you give them enough time in advance. I also submitted it through the common app

    Why Cornell and Berkeley if, as you stated, you didn't really want to attend?

    • @4mandah
      @4mandah  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Part of it was just to make me feel better cause I knew I wasn't getting in. At the time I applied, I did genuinely consider both of these schools but as I got decisions back and started to envision myself at colleges UC Berkeley and Columbia just didn't really fit. Both schools are extremely rigorous and competitive which is what gives them their rankings but also creates an environment where I'd probably burn out in and think I wasn't good enough. There are some other reasons for each college as well but that's the major one.

      It was pretty surreal especially because originally I wasn't even going to opt in. Senior year's definitely a ride so enjoy it while it lasts but for colleges as long as you do the research and put the time in you'll be fine.
