Has Sigmar ever reprimanded the Knights Excelsior for their actions? I would love to see that as a short story
I was just thinking of the same question. Or even other Stormhosts challenging them.
I'd say he probably doesn't care. I see the Sigmarite factions as similar to the Imperium of 40k: not good by any stretch of the imagination, just less overtly evil than the guys in black. After all, they're part of the forces of order, not the forces of good. Huge difference there.
Considering the overall horror of the Stormcast’s very existence (forcing people fight and die over and over in an endless war against mind breaking horrors until they go insane), I think Sigmar is very much in an “ends justify the means” mentality these past couple of centuries. Like hell, have you heard what he did to his own realm after the gates of Azyr were sealed? It’s like, he hates it, but necessary evils are the norm until Chaos is dealt with.
@@juandougnac8826That feels pretty untrue to the point of stormcast eternals. Their supposed to be epic goodguy heros. I think making them evil makes them a generic faction not only in warhammer standards but fiction in general.

I gave my youngest a Sigamrine to paint when he was 6 and now he is 8 and wants to learn the game. Woot.
Hallowed Knights are my favorite Stormhost, but the Knights Excelsior are a close second - their grim determination and blunt moral outlook is, IMO, really needed to balance out the potentially over-heroic nature of the Stormcast
I love the Knights Excelsior. I used to play them all the time in aos 2.0 but i didnt like the way they took the stormcast in 3.0 so i went with nurgle and created a whole narrative where a freeguild general went to his home town to find it ruined by the knights excelsior and his family slain, and in that despair, fell into nurgles loving embrace and now he spreads nurgles garden and slaying as many stormcast he can to spite sigmar for allowing his town to being destroyed by the white angels.
I been using Knights Excelsior as the stormhost for my custom SCE. It's not good against mortal wound, but being able to roll up with all of the heavy boys who hurt a lot is great fun!
Also, since Ghur is the primary domain of both Astral Templars and Knights Excelsior, seems like they'd be the first ones to come into direct conflict.
the Knights Excelsior almost have this air of... naivety... to them. like, ok, statistically most of them where likely from the Age of Myth in life which didn't really have chaos and then they were reforged in azyr, a realm known for it's lack of chaos. And as essentially Angel Cops, they're knowledge of chaos likely begins and ends at "is corrupting, infectious, evil, and the majority of mortals follow it so be careful". That story with the warpfire throwers really sells it for me, they don't know what is and isn't a problem and so just do the safe option and destroy it.

Just decided to add a bit of variety to my Stormcast paint schemes by painting the Paladins in my army as Knights Excelsior.
The majority of my army is painted in the black and purple of the Sons of Mallus, another Stormhost based in Excelsis.
It'd be really nice to see a non-Chaos revolt against Sigmar and his totalitarian theocracy.
I'm running Knights Excelsior for pretty similar reasons to you - the opportunity to field lots of big chonking Paladins and wanting to push myself with a white armoured force. Their background is interesting too with them deviating so much from what is expected from the 'good guys'. They are the shadow cast by the brilliance of the other Stormhosts.
City of Secrets (Callis & Toll no.1) was my intro to these guys and damn... I really am anticipated these guys being the first lawful evil Stormhost that become enemies of Azyr.
I believe that "Warbeast" written by Gav Thorpe has an excellent perspective of the knights excelsior. The character "Theuderis Silverhand" is precise, methodical, uncompromising and -- most importantly -- assertive and decisive. As he is reforged that latter trait begins to dominate, resulting in his decisions appearing callous and heartless. Also alluded to is the fact that Sigmar particularly chose the Knights Excelsior to guard Excelsis because he foresaw their uncompromising nature as necessary to prevent a greater evil from unfolding in the years to come.
I can see picture of brave brother and sister of chaos warriors save flee citizen from the mad 9ft tall killing machine stormcast.

I will always want for Age of Sigmar the same system of "Custom Chapter Tactics" as in 40k. For inventin my own dudes. The Mortal Realms are endless. And only Sigmar knows how many Stormhosts exists. I am sure - no less than the Chapters of Space Marines.

I am happy we are not getting in politics. Good episode. I can understand why they do what they do. If you think about it is the equivalent of how Arthas felt. He suffered so many times the view of the destruction and kill of his people, so when he goes to Stratholme, for him, nothing could be saved. I know he has a lot of ego as well, but for the most part, Stratholme was dead already. As the good and wise Torquemada, Burn it, burn it all.

You need to start putting the source in your description. As someone new to the lore I would like to know where to read about those subject.
every army in the game has a battletome, if I chat about an army or subfaction, its from there :) Otherwise I make it super clear which "expansion" or other book I'm covering. Also all the novels referenced were mentioned by name; Dominion, City of secrets etc
Hey when the knights excelsior can walk outside and have everyone hate them Just for doing their job and be a threat they've Gotta defend themselves, sure they're a bit heavy-handed sometimes but that's exaggerated by tzeentchs "news"

So, these guys are clearly when Lawful Good becomes Lawful Evil. It's almost 40k in how over the top bleak it is. Aren't these guys ever challenged by other Stormhosts? Why are they still in charge of things?
Other Stormhosts don't like them and their treatment of Excelsis has brought about an investigation into their actions but ultimately they are still a Stormhost and they are seen as doing more good then harm.
Afterall, there are times when the fight against chaos demands for extreme measures. They are the ones willing to do what is necessary.
Also, why is it cool? Because we're all zealous for something.
I personally dont enjoy the moral ambiguity that GW is pumping into Stormcast. Call me naive but I want to play as the good guys...without my models wearing feathered caps or pantaloons. 🙄 Thats why I play as Anvils of the Heldenhammer, the reforging flaw doesnt affect their behavior like other Stormhosts.
GW aren't pumping off hard enough.
