    The fact that you are giving us a briefing while flying the STAR is basically telling us that you and your colleague are repeating the stuff for us, such a nice and safe situation awarness mixed to a youtuber attitude 😍 we need more Captain like you. Big fan. See u in LSGG 🙋🏻‍♂️✈️

    Eurowings must to be proud to have pilot like you, for the great publicity that you provide to the company, by show us this outstanding grade of skilling and professionality, but also an uncommon attitude for a pilot in producing professionally documentary grade contents like these. Plus, i personally tank you like virtual pilot, for the opportunity to use your teaching lessons, for pepare myself to face virtual IFR flight sessions in Vatsim like a pro !!! I hope Eurowings will support you providing the best support possible, in their own interest. Tanks from LIQN and Itairwaysvirtual pilots...see you soon on the screen !!!👍🖖🤙

    Absolutely fantastic video. As a relatively new flight simmer It's great to see so much detail and the charts/briefings are so helpful, especially with learning how you use the autopilot in the descent and how you read the charts. Have learned so much from these videos and getting much more enjoyment out of the aircraft in the sim as a result! Thank you!

    Hello Cpt.
    A very nice and wonderfully flown night approach to Manchester. 👌🛬🌛
    Especially the touch down with 1ft rate at the end was awesome and very, very gentle!🥇
    This shows again how much you love your job and know your aircraft types.
    When I fly my simulator. I manage such a nice landing very, very rarely!
    What is also very nice are the camera settings that you use.
    I mentioned last time that the chart feed is very helpful for us simmers and it's interesting how you explain and use the charts in the briefing!
    Thanks for that!
    I'm looking forward to the next video!
    With this in mind, I wish you and your crew a nice week!
    Best regards from Styria 🤗

    It must have been a very early start for you that day ! Cities at night are always special from the air, and it was a very clear approach. One day, I hope that you will be able to do the same flight in the day time, as you can get some good views of the Pennine Hills just before you pick up the glide slope.

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for watching and for your question. We set the local QNH if we are in the approach and as soon as ATC clears us for the first time to an altitude instead of a flight level. With this clearance to an altitude, they transmit the local QNH.

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the feedback! I was not very clear in the description. I mean the number which is shown left of the altitude tape, left of the FL60 indication. This number indicates how many feet we are above the calculated ideal idle descent path. It does not tell us with how many feet we have to descent.

    Another fantastic video. I have a couple of questions/observations:
    I notice on the entire approach it looks like you have no floodlighting on the flight deck, maybe only integral lighting? Is this a part of a company SOP or is it pilot preference?
    Also, interesting to hear your strategy for the '160 till 4' approach, which is very common as you will know into Heathrow. I'll try the flaps 3, gear up till ~4.2 next time in the sim! Greetings from 10 miles south west from Detling VOR!

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thanks for the good feedback! We have all the standard adjustable Airbus lights and the dome lights on the flight deck. Also all the screens, like ND, PFD ... are adjustable in the brightness. We adjust them in accordance to our needs. Goal is to find the right balance between the natural brightness outside and the lights and screens inside.
      160 to 4 is required at LHR and even at some other airports. You may have seen already a good 160 until 4 strategy in my London LHR videos. Here is one link: th-cam.com/video/lQSB3SQ_2F4/w-d-xo.html Greetings to DET VOR.

    Hi, Captain. Great video! I have a question: does the rudder trim need to be reset during the final stage of approach?

    • @ApproachandDepartureVideos
      @ApproachandDepartureVideos  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the nice feedback and your question! During normal flight operation, we do not use the rudder trim. We reset it once before the flight. But that's all. If we would fly with one engine, we would use the rudder trim to remove the needed pressure from the rudder pedals. And in that case the pilot flying may want to reset to 0 before the landing.

But it is much easier said than done. The possible locations for cameras are very limited and we have to deal with lots of reflections on the screens, if I record from an angle.

Also ein Standard Operating Procedure.

      Yes. If you watch the ND, you see the wind even shifting to a tailwind.

      @@ApproachandDepartureVideos Yeah that’s how I had noticed it, I fly an A320 in my flight simulator a lot. How common is an occurrence like this in real life? I’ve had it happen quite often on my simulator.

      Good question. It shows that we are 700 feet above the standard descent profile.

      @@ApproachandDepartureVideosquestion in terms of that, what does the standard descent profile base itself on if you are not following the NAV track, instead are on heading like in this case?
