The MaxxFX doll is one of my favorite toys ever and I'm pretty sure I saw other MaxxFX dolls at the discount store when I bought my Freddy as a kid in the 80's. I was only ever allowed to get one toy of of any collection though so so I had to just get Freddy.. But yeah, I did see the other ones. Also, instead of those costumes you showed I had the Freddy Kreuger makeup kit in the early 90's and the plastic glove. I put together my own set of clothes that reminded me of Freddy for the rest!
It really is a cool piece. I may grab another just to open it up as they aren’t too terribly expensive still today. I was almost positive the Freddy one was the only figure released. I could be wrong. Either way it’s such a cool idea for a toy. Really neat you had it back in the day too! Thanks for watching!
I remember a friend of my dad had a Freddy Krueger sunshield for his car back in the early 90s. Funny looking back, it was like the KISS mania craze or Star Wars. Make a Freddy Krueger version of anything you could sell and wait for the money to roll in (or so they thought.) edit: just saw the same one posted on eBay. The classic "Freddy's Ready" quote version.
Now we are talking! A Freddy sunshield for your car! I can’t say I’ve ever seen one of those but, I have to go look now. 😆 you’re absolutely right they tried to maximize on the popularity of Freddy any way possible. To my recollection not many other horror villains got the same treatment…maybe now days since horror has become so popular. Thanks so much for watching and chiming in. Now I know there was a Freddy sunshield 😆
My most notable Freddy stuff is an autographed copy of his autobiography Hollywood Monster. I also have his autograph wishing me happy birthday. It is, by far, the coolest thing I own. And that covers a lot of ground because I collect a lot of different stuff! If you haven't read Hollywood Monster, I highly recommend it!
Wow, that’s an incredible piece! Love the story, thanks for sharing. I will most definitely need to check out that book. I’m sure it’s a fascinating read. Good stuff. Thanks for checking out the video and sharing your stories.
I went cross-border shopping to the U.S. to buy the talking Freddy doll back in '89. I think it was eventually pulled from shelves after a religious organization complained about it being aimed at kids. My parents were cool like yours, by the way. They didn't mind that I was into horror as a kid, and my dad even helped me make a Freddy glove for Halloween in '87.
It doesn’t surprise someone losing their mind over some as harmless as a talking toy 🙄 Aren’t there other things to concern yourself with more important lol. That’s cool the folks let get into that stuff and not cause a fuss about it and even cooler your dad helped you make a Freddy glove. Good memories for sure and a fun time to grow up. Thanks for sharing and watching.
I went as Freddy for Halloween one time when I was a kid in the early 90s, maybe I had that same costume, I don't know but I still have the glove! Its a little different from the one you showed.
Nice! Cool you still have the glove too. We had a kid that trick or treated at our house last night that was dressed as Freddy. Best costume I saw all night. In all the years I’ve dressed up for Halloween. I’ve never attempted a Freddy but, I’d still really like too. Thanks for watching!
My favorite horror legendary villain of all time freddy krueger love him my horror movie that I love to watch the most I have all of the movies never get tired watching it
Yeah no doubt. For me I’d say Michael Myers is on top but, there is definitely a case to be made for Freddy. He’s iconic and brings way more to the table than some of the other horror villains that fall trap to being silent faceless monsters. Really appreciate you stopping down and watching!
As being the 1st ever and former Guinness world record holder for the largest Collection of Ghostbusters memorabilia I absolutely love seeing other people collections and the weird stuff that was made and how it was marketed. There are some Very cool things you showed off. I have a Ben cooper Egon from the Real Ghostbusters costume. Kids these days will never know the struggles we had as kids in those costumes lol. I think Freddy is in my top 5 of favorite slasher. I have a vhs box for one of the Freddy tv shows but I can’t seem to find the vhs itself. I think a lot of things like the maxx fx figures unfortunately suffer from poor Marketing and untimely releases. I think if it was released at a different time it would have been a success. Especially with the Xenomorph There are a few examples I have with Ghostbusters memorabilia that fall in that category. Love the collection you have got my subscription. Look forward to seeing more videos.
Oh no way! That’s awesome. I got to ask what’s the oddest Ghostbuster collectible you have? So great connecting with collectors that go the extra mile for a line or franchise they love. Freddy is just so iconic it would hard to replace him in my top 5 too…I agree with the MaxX Fx statement…probably just missed the window of opportunity where it really would have taken off. Really great getting to chat about all this stuff with. It’s why I even make these videos. Thanks for all the comments and kind words. Looking forward to more conversations! Thanks for the sub too!
@ I have more then a few odd ghostbusters items like a bootleg Slimer, a hand held projector driving game, hygiene kit, Slimer toothpaste, and bubblegum, a corded real ghostbusters two way phone walkie-talkie, a velcro ball toss and catch game. Must like other popular movie franchises they would put that logo on anything and it would sell no matter what it was. I love collecting for the original Ghostbusters movies and cartoons. I love a lot of the more obscure things that are harder to find not necessarily more expensive as far as what they are worth just harder to find items you don’t see every day.
Indeed if something is popular enough they will find a way to capitalize on it. All that sounds incredible. Thanks for sharing. The key is the stuff that you don’t see everyday or would find in a normal collection…that’s where things get good. Have you seen the new toys coming out by mondo for Ghostbusters. They are amazing looking but come with that mondo price tag…makes be a fearful for what my wallet will have to shell out for the Aliens figures they are doing..
@@2DayRentals yeah I have seen them. They look amazing, but I have a hard time spending that type of money on figures. My collection is based off of $10-$25. I very rarely go over that budget but sometimes it’s a must lol I did a show with Adam Richmond called Adam eats the 80s. Part of the episode is on TH-cam. Just type in the search bar Adam eats the 80s Ghostbusters and it should pop up. You can see some of my collection in that episode.
I just watched and that is absolutely amazing! Thanks for sharing that…your collection is impressive to say the very least. That is so wild how similar the bubble gum and toothpaste packing was. Like you said easy to convince the parents you needed more “toothpaste” 😂 wow. What a cool moment for you as a collector to be a part of that. Very neat.
Nice! I knew I had for 20 years or so… thought maybe it was longer but that does seem about right. Thanks for the heads up and for checking out the video.
Great video ha I was working part time at the theater in 91 when Freddie's dead was playing they gave out 3 D glasses to watch a special scene in the movie after the movie they said to give back the glasses to the theater staff I kept mine lol
@@2DayRentalsHave you ever see Nightmare Feddy (yes Feddy)? It’s a bootleg Freddy I found years ago. Freddy is wearing penny loafers, and the hat is so cheap it breaks if you look at it hard. Comes in a lovely window box tho.
I have only see pictures. lol breaks if you look at it too hard. That got me. Yeah that seems about right. Would most definitely be neat to have one though anytime I see one pop up they are really pricey.
At 4:50 that Halloween decoration 2008 talking Freddy figure is cool, but I have something almost like that, it was a Freddy glove talking freddy nightmare on elm street Candy bowl that came out around 2013 or 2014, and it was a candy bowl that had the nightmare on elm street movie logo on it and the bowl was black with a automated battery opperated Freddy glove hand with his trademark glove in the middle of the candy bowl with a piece of his iconic sweater attached on the sleeve of his hand and when u were to get kids to reach into the bowl the motion censor would detect and out jumps up within the candy youd have Freddy's gloved hand pop up from the bowl and on the mini speaker on the bottom of the bowl was the exact catch one liner phrases from freddy , so along with the glove popping ul from the candy bowl when some one would reach inside to take some candy youd not only get the surprise freddy glove poping up from the candy but youd also hear those exact same Freddy one liners and phrases just like that decor figure says, in fact they are fhe exact phrases he says with the candy bowl i have.. ,only thing that sucks is u still have it, but the knives on the glove were made so thin and cheaply..one of the knives chipped off one of the fingers and i still need to glue it back together if i can.. yea itsvan awesome freddy memorabilia collectors cool toy or decoration for any Halloween party..and so cool to have i don't see them much now, i wonder if its a rarity now...anyways as soon as i saw the part where ur showcasing the freddy 2008 Halloween talking figure and u played the phrases, i automatically thought wait hey those are the exact same freddy one liners and phrases along with his iconic laugh that is on my Halloween nightmare on elm street Freddy candy bowl that i bought back either in 2013 or 2014..around there i forget which year it was i know it was in stores around that time period when i bought it for Halloween
Damn. That thing sounds awesome. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the one you described. Yet another example of how much Freddy and NoE Merch has been released over the years. I knew I was only scratching the surface. I will have to keep my eye out for that because I’d love to add it to my collection. I appreciate all the insight and you checking out the video!
@2DayRentals yea no problem bro, just a Freddy fan as well..but its been that way since i was young like maybe 7 or 8 years old ,where i was bout that age range when i was watching the nightmare movies during the late 80s, and was fortunate that my parents let me or didn't keeo me from seeing horror movies..lol they usually rented them for me as I would always have one picked whenever it was time to check out the rental s at the cashier.. my parents would have other types of films that they picked, but i always gravitated to the horror section.. and been like that since I was like 7 or 8 year's old n now im a grown ass man at 42 still into it and love the horror genre very much ..how old are you bro, just curious if we come from the same generation or grew up in the same period..yea us 80s babies, i notice couldn't have avoided horror during the time period of the 80s decade..i mean horror was everywhere.. in kids toys freddy n Jason had toys and things marketed to us with those slasher mivie
I’m 41 and all that sounds extremely familiar lol. Grew up roaming the isles of the video stores. Horror was always go to as well. That and the video game isle. We had a really cool mom and pop video store that carried merch…toys, posters, memorabilia…stuff like that. I’ve always been into this sort stuff lol. Really appreciate the good conversations brother!
@2DayRentals Well since i was born in 1982, as a baby probably around when i was like 3 or 4 years old, My love for Horror and my passion for music especially dates to me laying as a 3 yr old baby on my moms bed with either my bottle of juice or passafire in my mouth watching alot of Mtv cause if u recall I'd get fussy n get a little mad and cry if there was music playing on TV, and i remember those crazy 80s music videos that were a bit weird but intrigued and entertaining and it got my attention alot, well as for the start of Horror that really I took notice in and deeply loved and got me glued was seeing Michael Jackson s Thriller music video for the first time, and even loved how it had 2 main things that just worked right exactly my alley was the Horror ,Scary movie theme projected into a great catchy Pop dance rhythmic song with elements of horror being shown as cool and not cheesy comical one bit, M.J and the zombies just looked so awsome to me getting down on a real cool funky groove dance break down .. looking scary as hell n not comical in which it could have been that way , thank goodness it didn't, and usually that would b the case seeing zombies groovin getting down on the dance floor n looking stupid or laughable in certain dance steps and choreography.. but Thriller really makes that not the case .. they actually got that right balance which is very hard to get when having zombies dance in a movie of some sort..Thriller very well achieved the balance with having them really look horrific and scary at the same time dance in a very good fashion looking cool and hip enough to boogie on down with the king of pop in a cool dance break.anyway yea my very favorite thing id do also was watch the making of Michael Jackson s thriller featurett on vhs home video and just from there fell in love and fascinated by how effex make up designer Rick Baker did the wear wolf makeup mask and the Zombies made up and dressed and i just was addicted to watching the vhs tape over and over till it broke one day.. and now i regret breaking it cause they have never ever yet released Making of thriller on any digital format, and it sucks that it was only and still is only available on vhs tape only.
Damn I saw that VHS at antique mall one time and it was priced a little high so I’m passed on it but kind of wished I’d grabbed. Such a cool concept for a song/music video. Sounding old they just doing make em like they used to… 🤦♂️ good stuff man.
I owned the VHS box set but got rid of it when I upgraded to the DVD box set several years ago. I’ve always regretted that. I’ve got the entire series of Freddy’s Nightmares on bootleg DVD. It’s a nice set.
Yeah that VHS box set is pretty iconic. Hopefully one day I’ll come across it…damn I need to track down the series on bootleg lol. thanks for watching!
Yea that glove is the same i got. Cept believe it came out in 2014, so thst glove isn't that vintage its only bout 10 years old made by Rubies costumes
