Samsung should just stick with Snapdragon flagship SoCs for their flagship phones (S series and Note Series). Keep the Exynos for their mid-range phones. That way, they don't shortchange their customers who buy flagship phones.

Super nice review. The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G offers pretty much every feature any phone owner could want. It has a gorgeous screen, classy hardware, wicked performance, good battery life, and capable cameras. It's also huge, heavy, and as pricey as they come 😎😎😎
I use the S-Pen more or less every day. Text selection, Smart select and translation. There are a couple of puzzle games that are so much better when using the pen rather than my finger. I do take quick notes too. Funny though that it's only been in the past 3 generations of Note that I have used the pen as much as I do now. It has grown on me and I wouldn't be without it now.
17:17 Remember though that, as far back as the Note 2 is concerned, we had a Samsung device similar to Samsung Dex which would pretty much do the same thing(Within the note 2's capability that is).

I use the spen daily or used it until I dropped an old HDD on my Note8 and destroyed the digitizer as well as cracked the pcb on the mobo. I've been using a $50 android phone for the past 2 months and I very much miss everything about the note series. The spen is what I miss the most though. I can't wait for my Note 20 Ultra!

I use the S Pen daily! Just got my Note 20 Ultra last Friday, coming from Note 10+ ! I'm a student taking online courses and ALWAYS taking down notes...yes its a bit small after writing for some time, but it helps me stay organized and jotting down grocery lists and just quick info. It comes in handy! Love love love the Note! I've had Note 7 (RIP), Note 8, Note 9, Note 10, and now the Note 20 Ultra!

He is up there with the best tech TH-camrs. But I'm sure it's just a matter of time before his number of subscribers explode. I just got this phone and men oh men, that design is so gorgeous specially with the mystic brown color. My only complain is it's the Exynos variant (we all know that it's slower and battery life is not as good as snapdragon counterpart), I hope samsung should use the same SOC for all regions.
I started with a Note 3, went to a Note 5, the Note 7 for a whole two days before returning it, and Note 8, to a Note 10. At this moment, I have realized that it's not worth upgrading year over year. If you follow samsung's support lifestyle, than it only makes sense to upgrade every two models.

I love my note20 ultra 5G and s-pen which is in my hand nearly everytime I use my phone. Note taking, navigating, drawing even down to some game play. I won't have it any other way. I absolutely love my Note and most of all definitely my pen.

I use the SPen all the time. It's a business phone for our company and sPen is a serious tool for us. Excellent review, best of them all well done !! I could see the end of the Note series in a few years when foldables have real glass, can use an SPen and has no crease.
I ordered mine on Samsung unlocked mystic black 512 GB traded in with my note 10+ not bad of a deal. It's a great trade in I believe knowing that note 20 ultra will get three years of updates. 👌 Hmm there's already a video of the Note 21 coming up next year. I'm sure the Note 20 Ultra will get improve in time. Other than that your getting good upgrades and performance.
It may well be the last traditional note. I think Samsung will merge the Galaxy Fold and the Note series. Samsung now considers the Fold as its top flagship instead of the Note. And considering the fact the Note line has become the S series + S-Pen, I think it would help the S series differentiate from the Note line. If they can get those engineers to fit that S-Pen inside of a Fold, it will sell in huge numbers.

Personally, I hope the Note series would be duel screen like the Lg v60's. It would definitely make it like a note book, as well as increasing multitasking/productivity (which is what I enjoy the most on my Note 9). At the same time, it keeps cost down while keeping durability up unlike the foldable option. It will be really great if reading apps and websites have a book mode, so it would be like flipping a page on a book when in duel screen mode. This change would make the Note series more distinct from the S series, as well as from the foldables.
Japan just launched Note 20 Ultra 5G so I just got mine. I used Note 10 Plus. For camera, I was disappointed with Galaxy Note 20 Plus especially selfie. Skin tone is washed out? Blue? White? Made me look like a sick person. For others also I think that not much difference with Note 10 Plus. For skin color front or rear camera for me I think that Note 10 Plus does way better close to real skin color. I just feel like front and rear camera I feel like I'm using a totally different phone. Color is so different. I think that Samsung has to update with software with it. For S-Pen I use it only when I want to high light things that I cant do with my finger. It's always a big help. Since I can do this I can't leave Note. I copy things a lot so it's so nice. I was thinking of going to the iPhone 12 Pro Max because I know it will have a great camera but could not leave the Note series.
I don't know if this is the most stupid idea ever or most genius, but I wonder if they could include a camera on the S-pen, so you could remove the punchole and maybe move the pen to the top and have like one stopping point to have the camera showing and wireless connect to the phone, so like wireless earbuds already do. Since the S-pen is a moving part that has to be there ANYWAY maybe they could kill two birds with one stone and finally be able to remove the punchole camera (this is all assuming of course that camera miniaturization has come that far, which, I have no idea if it has)
My main gripe in form is the button move. Usually when you hold your phone, it nests in the base of your thumb(palm) and your fingers. This leaves the tip of your thumb free to push the left side buttons like we had on the Note 10 models. Now the phone is less secure in your hand as you finger juggle to press those volume buttons now.

Deal with the performance lol. You won't find a faster phone even compared to the upcoming iphone 12 and I use the s pen but the real reason most buy a note is for the most advanced hardware and the BEST screen you can get. Being in the U.S. we get the 865+ so I can't speak to the exynos version.

Cuz its a 8BIT display 16million colors and refresh rate 120hz is limited to 1080p, while the One plus 8 pro has a 10bit 1 billion color display with qhd+ 120hz and so is the oppo i think. And the xperia 1ii too has a 10bit display. I have the s20 ultra exynos version and the performance sucks compared to the 8 pro when gaming especially , i had the 8 pro i regret trading it to the s20 ultra
about the s-pen placement my mom who is a lefty didnt have problems with the pen being on the right for years ,she's happy now that samsung moved it to the left and she hopes everyone gets used to it , as she endured it being on the right for years hehe. awesome video Michael! & Merry Christmas!

I'm looking to upgrade my Note 9, that I love, but having been burnt with bad Exynos battery life on that model and with it looking to be even worse with the Note 20 Ultra, I'm taking a hard pass. S Pen are very useful for those who work in construction sites like me. During our daily rounds and inspections with jutting down our observations and with the new procore and other on line documentation being used in construction it's real a great engine to use. Also, it lessen the number of things we bring during inspection. No more plans, no more notebooks, and no more pens or highlighter, only meter and other measuring equipments.
Great video Michael. I've Samsung phones for the last 6 years. What I do not understand on Samsung's phone is . The call blocking feature. 1300 phone and it cannot block calls without showing the notifications. This is stupid. Why block a number and it still shows. Was wondering could you look into that. Keep up the good work.
For those who want Exynos vs Snapdragon problem explained, let me help: The Exynos fight is all about buying the same device for more and with worse specs. Let me give a clear example: Exynos 990 was Samsung's answer to Snapdragon 865. It was worse then, the performance wasn't as good, battery life on phones was pretty poor (S20 couldn't last a full day in 120hz mode) and it used to overheat (framedrops in games) which decreased the battery life even more. We also pay a bit more for the device in Europe. Now with Snap 865+ in the new Note 20 lineup the difference is even bigger. European Note 20 offers the exact same Exynos 990 as the Galaxy S20 etc. It was slower than regular 865, now the difference between Ex990 and Snap 865+ is even up to 20%. Battery life is ofc still worse, and while Samsung updated the phone so that it doesn't overheat randomly like S20 used to, it still does in games and camera. And finally the price. I don't know the sales tax in the US, but I've googled that in Alabama it's 4% so the final price of the Note 20 will be 1039usd (the highest tax I've found is 10% so it would be 1099usd). In Europe (Poland to be exact) the price is (converted) 1162usd. Same phone, 20% worse performance, overheating issues, worse SOT. Edit: almost forgot: in the USA there is only 5G version of Note lineup. In Europe there are 2 versions, with and without 5G. For 999usd (or 1099 usd with highest tax) US folks are getting 5G one. In Poland for 1162 we have the non-5G one. 5G variant costs... 134usd more.

Well Ho Ho Ho Samsung. I got a Note 20 Ultra for Xmas. That's $1400 phone. I purchased this from Best Buy and got a few cases to try out. THE VERY FIRST TIME I put phone in the case, the little bit of stress that the phone underwent cracked the front class from center right to center bottom! The phone works fine, you can't really see the crack unless you hold the phone at a certain angle but you can feel it. It's a 1400 dollar phone and you can't put a case on it? God forbid it should every be dropped. Called Samsung customer support and of course they couldn't care less. "so sorry but we don't cover physical damage". Well, I came back to Samsung after 4 years with an LG that cost about half of what this phone costs. My LG never had a single issue, I came back to Samsung specifically for the "pen". This is obviously a quality control issue. There are hundreds of thousands of these out there and I've not read any other complaints about this issue. Yes people have broken screens but they dropped the phone or ran over it with a semi-tractor trailer. I simply put a case on my phone in front of a room full of people who all witnessed the incident. I'll be writing Samsung about this and I'll be posting this comment in EVERY SINGLE YOU TUBE reviewers video. This is completely unwarranted baloney that should NEVER be able to go unaddressed. This is an abusive mistreatment of a customer on the part of a company that is simply unwilling to acknowledge that it might actually have screwed up. BUYER BEWARE: If you're thinking of buying a NOTE 20 ULTRA don't even think about putting a standard case on it.
Note: Please keep in mind most the reviews currently have been done with a review unit which is not the final version. However the photos from other phones are from a retail unit. Note 20 ultra would improve definitely with the retail unit

Review units are few and are recalled back I guess. However, since retail units have full blown software so many new issues come up as well
I've been rocking my Note10+ and just after Samsung announced that all flagship Samsung phones and tablets starting 2019 onwards will be supported by 3 MAJOR ANDROID UPDATES...it made upgrading to Note20 Ultra non-5G 8GB RAM (which is the only Note20 Ultra variant available in the Philippines for widesale) very lackluster and incompelling and non-appealing if you're a Note10+ user.

I'm upgrading from a much older phone. My choice is between Note10+ with 256GB and Note 20 Ultra with 128GB, which are the only options available for purchase from Samsung in Canada. I've watched so many TH-cam comparison videos...still confused. Is Note 20 Ultra worth the $500 in my case? Is it still better to get the Note 20 Ultra despite the lower storage capacity?
Samshit phone maybe featured pack as per you and maybe you are doing a sponsored review. But the phone at this price is literally ridiculous. Most of the market have to live with laggy exynos processor. While the snap dragon market lacks headphone. There are phones with lower prices offering better hardware and quality. This phone is bigger in size, but misses additional required hardware. Companies are offering 2 headphone jacks with bigger battery. The design and ergonomics are pathetic, the placement of spen is wrong. I can go on about this phone. The last good note was note 9. A true well designed note was note 7, however it was faulty in battery. Samsung always have problems with their phones. Samsung is nothing but greedy for money. If apple shits tomorrow, samsung will eat that shit.
Great video. I am now at the end of the S8+, since it does not recognize the SIM card, and I don't see the benefit of making an insurance claim and paying $199(?) deductible for a phone that is several years old, and more than likely I will be getting a refurbished unit anyway. So after all the reviews and comparisons between the S20 and Note 20, I am now making the leap from the S side over to the Note side. I believe that with the Note 20 Ultra, Samsung has finally made a big enough difference in the phone to warrant the price. I honestly never saw any reason for the Note in the past, by comparison. I can say that I will be picking up a Note 20 Ultra in the next couple of days, if not tomorrow, and digging into it to find all of the many ways it can be incorporated into my business.
Two years down the line many note 20 Ultra screens with Samsung's Exynos chip have developed one or more perpendicular lines across the screen after software update. Samsung charges S$400 to fix the same!! The fix comes with a paltry 1 month warranty.

Great Video!! Returning my iPhone 11Pro and getting this!!! I used Notes before, Note 8, 9 and used my S-pen every day!! Loved it!Then wanted to give apple a try since most friends kept nagging me to try, so I did. So happy I’m coming back!!!
I have issue with my finger prints. Basically no machine can recognize my finger prints. Somehow, N20U does. I am so surprised. Coming from Note 8, I got used to Iris Scanner, I thought I would have to live with pass-code. Thank you, Samsung. As I said just know, my fingers are not in good shape. Many devices cannot register my finger touches well. I have problem with delicate interaction like highlighting the text. So, I rely a lot on S Pen. I use it everyday for note taking, navigation etc.

Personally, I hope the Note series would be duel screen like the Lg v60's. It would definitely make it like a note book, as well as increasing multitasking/productivity (which is what I enjoy the most on my Note 9). At the same time, it keeps cost down while keeping durability up unlike the foldable option. It will be really great if reading apps and websites have a book mode, so it would be like flipping a page on a book when in duel screen mode. This change would make the Note series more distinct from the S series, as well as from the foldables.
Japan just launched Note 20 Ultra 5G so I just got mine. I used Note 10 Plus. For camera, I was disappointed with Galaxy Note 20 Plus especially selfie.
Skin tone is washed out? Blue? White? Made me look like a sick person. For others also I think that not much difference with Note 10 Plus. For skin color front or rear camera for me
I think that Note 10 Plus does way better close to real skin color. I just feel like front and rear camera I feel like I'm using a totally different phone. Color is so different. I think that Samsung has to update with software with it.
For S-Pen I use it only when I want to high light things that I cant do with my finger. It's always a big help. Since I can do this I can't leave Note. I copy things a lot so it's so nice. I was thinking of going to the iPhone 12 Pro Max because I know it will have a great camera but could not leave the Note series.
I don't know if this is the most stupid idea ever or most genius, but I wonder if they could include a camera on the S-pen, so you could remove the punchole and maybe move the pen to the top and have like one stopping point to have the camera showing and wireless connect to the phone, so like wireless earbuds already do. Since the S-pen is a moving part that has to be there ANYWAY maybe they could kill two birds with one stone and finally be able to remove the punchole camera (this is all assuming of course that camera miniaturization has come that far, which, I have no idea if it has)
My main gripe in form is the button move. Usually when you hold your phone, it nests in the base of your thumb(palm) and your fingers. This leaves the tip of your thumb free to push the left side buttons like we had on the Note 10 models. Now the phone is less secure in your hand as you finger juggle to press those volume buttons now.

I traded my pixel 4 XL for note 20 ultra 5g and wow !!! Thr experience is ridiculously better than any phone I've bought ever .
Exynos has destroyed my samsung opinion totally. I could deal with the performance . But the over heating and battery life its a HELLL NO .
Deal with the performance lol. You won't find a faster phone even compared to the upcoming iphone 12 and I use the s pen but the real reason most buy a note is for the most advanced hardware and the BEST screen you can get. Being in the U.S. we get the 865+ so I can't speak to the exynos version.

Cuz its a 8BIT display 16million colors and refresh rate 120hz is limited to 1080p, while the One plus 8 pro has a 10bit 1 billion color display with qhd+ 120hz and so is the oppo i think. And the xperia 1ii too has a 10bit display. I have the s20 ultra exynos version and the performance sucks compared to the 8 pro when gaming especially , i had the 8 pro i regret trading it to the s20 ultra

about the s-pen placement my mom who is a lefty didnt have problems with the pen being on the right for years ,she's happy now that samsung moved it to the left and she hopes everyone gets used to it , as she endured it being on the right for years hehe.

Great review. I'm looking to upgrade my Note 9, that I love, but having been burnt with bad Exynos battery life on that model and with it looking to be even worse with the Note 20 Ultra, I'm taking a hard pass. Sort it out Samsung! I'm thinking of having to jump ship to the likes of the Oppo Find X2 instead...

S Pen are very useful for those who work in construction sites like me. During our daily rounds and inspections with jutting down our observations and with the new procore and other on line documentation being used in construction it's real a great engine to use. Also, it lessen the number of things we bring during inspection. No more plans, no more notebooks, and no more pens or highlighter, only meter and other measuring equipments.
Great video Michael. I've Samsung phones for the last 6 years. What I do not understand on Samsung's phone is . The call blocking feature. 1300 phone and it cannot block calls without showing the notifications. This is stupid. Why block a number and it still shows. Was wondering could you look into that. Keep up the good work.

Rumors are the Note line may be discontinued and S-pen support going over to the next S device. What they should do is discontinue the S line.
For those who want Exynos vs Snapdragon problem explained, let me help:
The Exynos fight is all about buying the same device for more and with worse specs. Let me give a clear example: Exynos 990 was Samsung's answer to Snapdragon 865. It was worse then, the performance wasn't as good, battery life on phones was pretty poor (S20 couldn't last a full day in 120hz mode) and it used to overheat (framedrops in games) which decreased the battery life even more. We also pay a bit more for the device in Europe.
Now with Snap 865+ in the new Note 20 lineup the difference is even bigger. European Note 20 offers the exact same Exynos 990 as the Galaxy S20 etc. It was slower than regular 865, now the difference between Ex990 and Snap 865+ is even up to 20%. Battery life is ofc still worse, and while Samsung updated the phone so that it doesn't overheat randomly like S20 used to, it still does in games and camera. And finally the price. I don't know the sales tax in the US, but I've googled that in Alabama it's 4% so the final price of the Note 20 will be 1039usd (the highest tax I've found is 10% so it would be 1099usd). In Europe (Poland to be exact) the price is (converted) 1162usd. Same phone, 20% worse performance, overheating issues, worse SOT.
Edit: almost forgot: in the USA there is only 5G version of Note lineup. In Europe there are 2 versions, with and without 5G. For 999usd (or 1099 usd with highest tax) US folks are getting 5G one. In Poland for 1162 we have the non-5G one. 5G variant costs... 134usd more.

Well Ho Ho Ho Samsung. I got a Note 20 Ultra for Xmas. That's $1400 phone. I purchased this from Best Buy and got a few cases to try out. THE VERY FIRST TIME I put phone in the case, the little bit of stress that the phone underwent cracked the front class from center right to center bottom!
The phone works fine, you can't really see the crack unless you hold the phone at a certain angle but you can feel it. It's a 1400 dollar phone and you can't put a case on it? God forbid it should every be dropped.
Called Samsung customer support and of course they couldn't care less. "so sorry but we don't cover physical damage". Well, I came back to Samsung after 4 years with an LG that cost about half of what this phone costs. My LG never had a single issue, I came back to Samsung specifically for the "pen". This is obviously a quality control issue. There are hundreds of thousands of these out there and I've not read any other complaints about this issue. Yes people have broken screens but they dropped the phone or ran over it with a semi-tractor trailer. I simply put a case on my phone in front of a room full of people who all witnessed the incident.
I'll be writing Samsung about this and I'll be posting this comment in EVERY SINGLE YOU TUBE reviewers video. This is completely unwarranted baloney that should NEVER be able to go unaddressed. This is an abusive mistreatment of a customer on the part of a company that is simply unwilling to acknowledge that it might actually have screwed up.
BUYER BEWARE: If you're thinking of buying a NOTE 20 ULTRA don't even think about putting a standard case on it.
Note: Please keep in mind most the reviews currently have been done with a review unit which is not the final version. However the photos from other phones are from a retail unit. Note 20 ultra would improve definitely with the retail unit
Actually its the opposite, review devices get an extra layer of testing vs retail units. These are not engineerings samples.
@@gadgetmatch Oh my bad. I thought retail devices are most polished than review units since they can make or break the company's image and are sold to many people. Review units are few and are recalled back I guess. However, since retail units have full blown software so many new issues come up as well
I've been rocking my Note10+ and just after Samsung announced that all flagship Samsung phones and tablets starting 2019 onwards will be supported by 3 MAJOR ANDROID UPDATES...it made upgrading to Note20 Ultra non-5G 8GB RAM (which is the only Note20 Ultra variant available in the Philippines for widesale) very lackluster and incompelling and non-appealing if you're a Note10+ user.

I'm upgrading from a much older phone. My choice is between Note10+ with 256GB and Note 20 Ultra with 128GB, which are the only options available for purchase from Samsung in Canada. I've watched so many TH-cam comparison videos...still confused. Is Note 20 Ultra worth the $500 in my case? Is it still better to get the Note 20 Ultra despite the lower storage capacity?
Samshit phone maybe featured pack as per you and maybe you are doing a sponsored review. But the phone at this price is literally ridiculous.
Most of the market have to live with laggy exynos processor. While the snap dragon market lacks headphone. There are phones with lower prices offering better hardware and quality. This phone is bigger in size, but misses additional required hardware. Companies are offering 2 headphone jacks with bigger battery. The design and ergonomics are pathetic, the placement of spen is wrong. I can go on about this phone. The last good note was note 9. A true well designed note was note 7, however it was faulty in battery. Samsung always have problems with their phones. Samsung is nothing but greedy for money. If apple shits tomorrow, samsung will eat that shit.
Great video. I am now at the end of the S8+, since it does not recognize the SIM card, and I don't see the benefit of making an insurance claim and paying $199(?) deductible for a phone that is several years old, and more than likely I will be getting a refurbished unit anyway. So after all the reviews and comparisons between the S20 and Note 20, I am now making the leap from the S side over to the Note side. I believe that with the Note 20 Ultra, Samsung has finally made a big enough difference in the phone to warrant the price. I honestly never saw any reason for the Note in the past, by comparison. I can say that I will be picking up a Note 20 Ultra in the next couple of days, if not tomorrow, and digging into it to find all of the many ways it can be incorporated into my business.
Two years down the line many note 20 Ultra screens with Samsung's Exynos chip have developed one or more perpendicular lines across the screen after software update. Samsung charges S$400 to fix the same!! The fix comes with a paltry 1 month warranty.

I have issue with my finger prints. Basically no machine can recognize my finger prints. Somehow, N20U does. I am so surprised. Coming from Note 8, I got used to Iris Scanner, I thought I would have to live with pass-code. Thank you, Samsung.
As I said just know, my fingers are not in good shape. Many devices cannot register my finger touches well. I have problem with delicate interaction like highlighting the text. So, I rely a lot on S Pen. I use it everyday for note taking, navigation etc.
