    If youre going to do clothes, i think you should seriously consider growing Cotton. I know its expensive to buy the equipment, but it makes back its initial costs pretty quickly. One or two sheep pens could definitely supplement the cotton, but i don't think they'll be nearly as effective on their own

      yep i agree as i said a couple episodes ago cotton can also make stupid good money on its own if done correctly.

      @@aussiebattler96 I didn't see that comment, but I'm glad to see I'm not alone in thinking this. I think it's especially pertinent given that Chainsaw also built a spinnery in today's episode, thus putting him one production ahead. Seeing as Chainsaw is outcompeting Dagg with wood, Dagg needs to outcompete Chainsaw in textiles (in my opinion)

    I saw a Reddit that said the opposite, if you herbicide immediately you don’t get penalized. Where as if you leave it and herbicide once weeds are large you can get up to 7,6% yield loss

    • @MrTaius
      @MrTaius 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You can lose up 15% yield but yes larger they are the more the penalty

    • @jmarynicz
      @jmarynicz 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      This is correct, Driver53 (IIRC) did a video, spray before any weeds grow is the best and equal to removing all small weeds with a weeder, spray and killing small weeds (ones that can be weeded) has a small yield hit, spraying big weeds (that can't be gotten with a weeder) has a bigger yield hit and lastly not spraying (or weeding) at all has the biggest yield hit (up to 20%). So max yield can be obtained by either spraying (or running a weeder) immediately after seeding or by making sure you weed during the first stage of weed growth.

      Correct you have to spray preemergent for that to work…however I prefer to use a modded JD VT tool that is nice and wide and acts as a plow…you don’t get weeds the year after plowing so I plow every year

    • @jmarynicz
      @jmarynicz 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@d33j29 but don't you get stones after plowing? Which means rolling? I prefer to use the JD direct planter that direct plants, does fertilizer and herbicide, which means only 2 passes on the field, one to plant, first stage of fertilizer and herbicide, then a 2nd pass for second fertilizer. +95% yield for only two passes on the field. I don't find the extra 3% from rolling worth it.

    Great progress once again, Daggerwin! Ready for next time you create a new field (i'm assuming probably next episode), could i suggest you get a worker to spread lime while you plant the crop - especially if you make the field a nice rectangular shape. Just to boost the yield that bit further. Another vote for planting cotton to utilise the productions fully too :)

    I believe that cotton is a good option as the pay back is great, you can add it to the wool at the spinney, and sell what you don't need. Just the start up cost is high so you may need to just add more sheep and the tailor to get enough money to add the cotton equipment.

  • @nobullfarming
    @nobullfarming 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hey Dagger! Love the series, saw the comment you mentioned on the last video. It's not actually completely correct! Because you are not running precision farming, spraying with herbicide immediately after drilling is exactly the same as using a weeder immediately after drilling. It removes the weeds, and does not cause a yield penalty. However because you are direct drilling, the first stage of weed growth is actually MEDIUM weeds. Medium weeds is a 15% yield penalty, and spraying them down removes 10% of that penalty. So overall, it's best to herbicide immediately after drilling if you're comfortable with it, but spraying when you are means you're only take a 5% penalty not 15% :)

    12:12 I agree with you on the pronunciations topic. The Americans have got the pronunciation of methane correct. But (as an Australian) we’ve always pronounced Aluminium as the way you guys up there in the UK pronounce it, Alooominum just sounds… wrong.
    But, it’s also like the Chaser bin debate, where we Aussies call them Chaser bins, Americans call them grain carts, and who knows where people get the term Auger wagon or gravity cart from. But at the end of the day, it’s the same thing, just a different name.

    If processing plants are the way to go, then fill up the entire lot 34 with sheep! Don't hold back! Put their enclosures in such a way where all outputs are on one side to make transporting easier, then just push everything with the loader into the spinnery.
    I get not wanting to be repetitive, but on the other hand winning is nice too. And really fields and such can be delegated to workers and basically be the backup passive income.

    @Daggerwin the difference in spelling and pronunciation between how Britain and America spell and pronounce the word Aluminum/Aluminium stems from Webster's Dictionary in the 1800's. There were two ways of ending the names of metals in that era -um and -ium and the people in charge of the Webster's American Dictionary preferred the -um version.
    Since Aluminum was printed that way in the official American Dictionary, that is how most Americans learned the word while in Britain the Aluminium spelling was always used.
    So while I agree that it does sound weird to hear the other version (I'm American so your vesrion sound odd to me) neither of us is wrong (not saying that you were calling Americans wrong).
    Both spellings and pronunciations were widely accepted in the 19th century and one was officially adopted by America while the other was adopted by Britain and most of the rest of the world.
    Like a rebelious child we Americans seem to have to do things our own way sometimes.
    BTW...I love this series.

    Whoever told you that you loose yield when you spray just after seeding, is wrong.
    I have a bombshell to drop as well. Spraying with herbicide does NOT improve yield, at any stage.
    Weeds are a penalty based system, when you spray them, you just stop the damage that they already caused
    You don't have to take my word, activate your field info and check the yield on a field with weed. Then spray a small area, and check again.
    The yield will be the same.
    So the only time you could spray without penalty is just after seeding.

    The Whole fight between Aluminum and Aluminium is that they are both correct and both wrong... For that argument I submit Alumium which is the original name given then changed shortly after by the discoverer to Aluminum but because of its location on the periodic table of elements they wanted to keep the iums going so they opted to change it from Aluminum to Aluminium
    So Whether you say Aluminum or Aluminium or Alumium None of those are technically wrong just says more about where you are from.
    Personally i am from the USA so Aluminum is what I know and given that the Namer of the Element himself changed the name from Alumium to Aluminum then I would say the way we say it is most correct but I am definitely Biased

The only way not to have a hit to yield is to like you say spray immediately after seeding, use a weeding machine (during the first stage, or 2nd for the special weeder) or turn weeds off.
      If you let the weeds fully grow and then spray to get rid of them (so it's easy to see) then you are only gaining around 5% of yield vs. not even spraying, not really worth the cost or hassle.

    Isn’t one the element and one the product made from it?

    My sowing process is lime, drill, fertiliser, roll and then weeder. Its not easy because you can't really tell where you've been but it it is effective. then next growth stage I fertilise again. I try not to spray pesticide.

      You could fertilize before lime/drilling that way once you are done with the weeder the field is done and you don't have to come back to it after germination.

    Really cool video dag, love the Challenger tractor. Quite different from what you usually use. I have one question tho and this is for everyone. What the hell is that creature, whose howl can be heard at 12:11? I guess No Man's Land is an appropriate name for a map, when there is some monster lurking around somewhere in the plains/woods. I've heard that sound a couple of times as well, on my own savegame. Maybe this is some lore that could be uncovered.

    Should just auto sell any end of the line production stuff, the time wasted having the manage it isnt worth the little extra money from manually doing it.
    Or if you dont want to do that, at least redo your green houses and sawmill to where its much easier to load and refill. You got that shiny new plot to move them too thats not in the way of your fields.

    would totaly suggest buying the Andersson 24 round bale autoloader or whatever its name is.
    EDIT : may be named Anderson 2000 or something when i think about it its a vanilla item not a mod possibly some DLC but u seem to have all DLC so cant imagine u not having it in the store.
    1. Saves a ton of time moving bales compared to forking them.
    2. Not a bale teleporting bale loader... almost realistic with the hydraulic arm atleast makes more sence than teleporting bales...
    3. Not very expensive. like 28000 or something i think. pretty sure i had it payed of in like 1.5-2 years or something
    durability is lasting like forever because of making fast work of the bales so low usage time/year
    think mine on my SP map is like 150+ something months old and has like 10h work time or something picking about 50 bales every 3 months so barly any repair cost even tho it´s almost older than the invention of the stone axe by now.
    Also not considred allow using courseplay in your survival challange?
    it´s basicly the standard worker just with the ability to actualy do non perfectly square fields and headland on fields would be perfect on these iregular shaped 100% manualy created fields.
    I understand not using Autodrive because its kinda to much automation availability and like removes half the work.
    Courseplay i just feel like it´s a more refined version of the standard hired worker it basicly adds a brain to the worker.
    is kinda nice to just setup a worker to come unload med while i run the combiner when i´m full/almost full or plant the field while i run behind it in a tractor rolling the seed bed.
    and if u feel it bein to op u can turn of auto repair/refill/refuel so u still have to manage that and can tune the worker price up to like 500% if u want to.
    Costs extra to hire a worker with a brain personaly i feel like 150-200% was kinda perfect balance for not having to babysit the hired worker all the time.

    Just curious random question but how come you do not use the mod that you can adjust max speed of like headers, mowers, cultivators, etc so instead of harvesting at 6 mph it would let you harvest at the max speed of what the harvesters speed is same with other implements... Anyway great videos dag, one of a kind!!!

    You also loose yield when the weeds are too big. I think in the first 2 of the 3 stages of weed groth you have to spray them to not loose yield.

    • @jmarynicz
      @jmarynicz 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You lose yield whenever the weeds have grown at all if you spray, its just more loss for the bigger the weeds are. If you use a weeder (instead of spraying) then there is no yield loss, but it only works (with the exception of a special weeder) on small weeds. Generally spraying immediately after seeding is the preferred method to get max yield unless you plan on using a weeder instead.

    • @dreiback182
      @dreiback182 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@jmarynicz I watched a video where somebody tested it. Spraying in stages 1 and 2 where the same yield and spraying in 3 was a yield loss. And if I remember correctly if you use a harrow or a sprayer in stages 1 and 2 doesnt matter. However that test didnt include spraying before weeds were even there...

    • @jmarynicz
      @jmarynicz 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dreiback182 if you watch the video from Driver53 (the one for FS22 from a year ago, not the one for FS23 from 2 months ago). Using a weeder, turning weeds off or spraying right after seeding are the only way to have no impact on yield. If you let the weeds grow (even to the first stage) then spray you take a yield hit. The more you let the weeds grow before spraying the bigger the hit, with each stage being roughly 5%.

    The whole aluminum/aluminium is the fault of English chemist Sir Humphry Davy cause he kept changing his mind on what to call it. First it was alumium. The he changed to aluminum before going with aluminium. People prefered the aluminium cause it kinda goes with the other -iums (poatssium, sodium, madnesium, also named by Davy)
