Excellent work, with a CK. My two cents: 1. Definition of money pit: something on which you keep having to spend a lot of money, especially when it may be a waste of money. Meaning, despite expense, you don’t get output. A good example would be the Disco3 with the air suspension. When the suspension fails, you spend a lot to fix it, only for it to fail again even when driven carefully and so on. Or a Jaguar whose transmission always requires expensive repairs and keeps failing. Or a diesel Touareg that keeps getting clogged DPF and injectors: very costly to fix and will keep getting clogged because of our low quality diesel. 2. There are cars that are costly to maintain, but are not necessarily money pits. A good example is the Mercedes S class. Routine maintenance parts and consumables are not cheap. I wouldn’t classify this car as a money pit; this car gives you excellent service between the maintenance intervals. The fact that you can buy it relatively cheap doesn’t mean the maintenance is cheap. It remains to be a luxury vehicle and the owner must have the means to maintain and run it. 3. Then there are cars that join the money pit list due to abuse. For example, a manual transmission Corolla could become a money pit if the driver has the habit of resting his left foot on the clutch or holding the car on a hill using the clutch. Or a Mercedes S class that is constantly driven very fast on potholed roads. 4. Guys should not fear buying used German cars - only avoid certain models (e.g 6 cylinder versions of the small sedans or diesel versions), beware that their maintenance can be involving and the schedule needs to be strictly followed; and that you need to carefully select what you buy (pre purchase inspection is mandatory.

Hey, Erick. A BMW fan here about to throw stones 😂😂😂. 1. Go to some of the reputable BMW specialist garages and see how many units have chronic issues that qualify to call the newer BMW's as money pits. 2. I am part of a group where members we're sharing milage of their cars and 300k kilometres on these so called money pits? Doesn't that cry reliable. 3. Newer BMW's are more electronic and the same applies to all other brands. Question do we have mechanics who know how to fix them or as country we are trying to push a mediocre agenda of don't buy new stick to the old mechanical only cars. And if the latter is what's happening will we buy cars when the EVs coming knocking ama as a collective will we cry "serikali saidia" 4. I would classify you as a sentimental. Loving the good old days of NA engines, straight six and all mechanical vehicles. And if I am right then don't review modern cars. Big up Andrew. Well spoken like 10 elders. This guy has a habit of trashing European cars and displaying his ignorance by featuring cars that are extremely reliable. Simply stated, German cars, and European cars for that matter are not doggers. They speak OEM. I think the pure turn off for me was saying the Grand Cherokee rates as one of the worst. Jeez! Oliskia wapi? What do you know about these cars? Chrysler went a notch higher when under Daimler and made the 2013 onwards Jeep GC a way superior off-road to permit the Mercedes ML/GLE end users shy of going off-road to venture more easily. What I'm saying is, don't try to rank by shooting poorly researched articles, you will loose as well as keep lying to your audience
I would suggest you be specific especially for the Benz. Yes there were engines within some certain years that were problematic but also there are those that are reliable

I think to make this discussion fair, Have a panel with some local enthusiasts esp VW, BMW, Merc because these are the most common brands being bought here as well as mechanics of these brands to give their 2 cents.... I know people who have driven some of these cars for long like the 3 series and C class and they dont complain as much

and finally i know of a certain Bmw model where it so highly engineered such that as the car ages the battery of the car gets old too so the computer of the car varies power from the battery to the car components so that the power that gets to them is constant as they are getting power from a new battery whereas the power is from an old battery.... so when you finally decide to change the battery and replace it with a new one you are supposed to let the car know(the computer) by resetting it.... or else the power from the new battery might fry your electricals over time one by one because it has alot of power compared tobits predecessor........ just imagine you cannot even change your battery in peace and if you don't take care your wallet will pay for it and how many of our mechanics are aware of this.....?
buying second hand German machines should come with a (buy at your own risk label)
BMWS are good cars when they work. On the other hand, when they don't (which is almost a guarantee) then you need a support group (aka enthusiast group) where you can lament about how "Legend" shafted you.
The SUV that challenges the Jeep Grand Cherokee is the D4 but I won't start that convo. What I'm saying is, don't try to rank by shooting poorly researched articles, you will loose as well as keep lying to your audience
Are Volvos still reliable options?
Super reliable
@ j Kingsley I'm selling an xc90 2016. If interested please let me know
Also very interested to know!
No
Awesome content
I would suggest you be specific especially for the Benz. Yes there were engines within some certain years that were problematic but also there are those that are reliable
So poorly done. Not even amateur. No research prior to the shoot
He mentioned those that ain't reliable
@@mosesmuthii3420 and they were all lies.
@@WilliamGatoto wacha feelings he mentioned the engines that are unreliable
@@newtonmutea well none are unreliable. That’s why I say we comment from facts. Not hearsay. Research is where the dealer says based on their knowledge and experience. Bonoko parts will fail any car.
What about SUZUKI ALTO? is it great?
Looking for a comment on c250 V6
Thanks Erick.💪💪💪
Great content... And you are a funny man😄
Grand Cherokee i agree especially tge 2011 they had lots of electrical issues?....huku states we but it if you dont have a choice......the new ones are luxurious as hell though
That's true kwanza BMW X5 E53 ,imenikula kichwa mpaka nafikirie nikatekate ni uze kama spare parts , sahii ikona shida ya over heating any good mechanic u can recommend?
YOM?
Thanks for the part two information. So sisi watu wa peugeot tuko sawa.
Hello Eric, thanks for the video. These cars are really expensive to maintain. Only have them if pocket good. On the other side they are fun, safe and give status. Lets leave dem for the rich.
please you never answered my question
why is nissan Xtrail cheap when 2nd hand..I want to buy one
Nissan needs strict service intervals, Kenyans can't keep up.
What about Volvo esp. xc60 and xc90 families, thanks.
How's the chevrolet captiva, for a second owner?
Let him who has ears.. listen 👂
I have had experiences with German cars and what he is saying is very right..!
Kindly review 2015 Suzuki Solio Hybrid
I drove from Birmingham to London this afternoon, and out of the 4 breakdowns i saw, 3 were beamers! They look nice but...now i'm sceptic. Tena here in the UK, they all tend to be new. I will be staying away when i can afford that type of car.
What about Volvo ? V40 or V60?
Super reliable. Must be from any country except Singapore though
what's your take on Nissan serena ya 2015?
Very insightful video but l have one question tho, what is your take on the Nissan Tiida 2005 model....?
Clean content💥💥
Good lesson i can't miss
3:13 hahah, I've been seeking to answer this question desperately. Why DRL on a very sunny or well-lit day? 😅
Because in Europe, its the law to aid in visibility for other road users. Climates in Europe means it can be dull even during the day
are 2012-2014 ML's as bad as the older ones?
Hi,am new in cars,I want to start online taxi biz....btw tiida Lazio,,Mazda demio, honda fit.........long distance car highly required....which one is less stressful, long distanced, spacious, has good resale prize,
Talking about money pits, I think it would be good for you to have information on the maintenance costs of the named vehicles, compared with the maintenance costs of the cars that are not money pits .Real data would enable us to see the difference
Data is King
He is just saying money pits based on brand biases...am yet to hear any data to back up his claims
Erick please review the new Suzuki jimny
Good job Erick.
I think to make this discussion fair, Have a panel with some local enthusiasts esp VW, BMW, Merc because these are the most common brands being bought here as well as mechanics of these brands to give their 2 cents.... I know people who have driven some of these cars for long like the 3 series and C class and they dont complain as much
This is a fantastic idea, we shall look into it
Count me in and I agree with your sentiments 100%.
You can't drive it daily
@@munene6453 who says? They are driven daily. This is why I'm insisting, don't do hearsay. I'm not rich but I have not owned a Japanese car for over 20 years now and I have never grounded my cars over spare part issues unless it was a special part which even dealers like Toyota Kenya would not readily stock unless you order. German cars are normal cars like any other but require to be treated right. Sio poko ya mikono mingi
They complain..its just that they don't do it openly...watu wanaumia
Tafuta SQ5 8R and FY you review, those are beautiful beasts.
What about Nissan wingroad 2015 is it reliable when it comes to its engine
Nice reviews but also people should stick to their lanes..ndio maana kuna watu huishi runda na wengine ungwaro..pocket and class.
Review also these cars Honda life 660cc, Daihatsu mira 660cc, Mazda CX-5 diesel, xtrail latest model in engine mounting and townace latest model 3sz_ve,

My Nissan Tiida cvt gearbox (secondhand) goes for 35k hapo river road. I dunno where you got the 80k price for Nissan March cvt gearbox
Do you video on vauxhall insignia please
So what should people drive? Toyotas and Subarus? I'd rather do the money pits!
Hell yesss
Coz you can afford related costs...
No 1 stops you
This is just an informed research, more so, from a poor mentality point of view. They put themselves in the position, weighed their abilities and they thought it's everyone's position.
Its the same thing they say in USA....about dodges and fords??.....like the new fancy tail gate on a ford.....😂😂😂😂....people say you need the fancy tail gate on a ford so you can have a place to seat while waiting for tow truck😂😂😂😂.....they just jokes though
Mimi nataka tu kujua hio cvt ya 80k na 100k ni gani juu hio ni uwongo and half baked research. 2. Cvt maintenance is not complex the b17 sylphy does not require an after market cooling but the kg11 one does the( older bluebird sylphy ) 3. Mra18 and mr20 engines range from 35-40 and the hr's trannys cost around 25 to 40k cheapest cvts in kenya right now. Uliza za subaru na za akina toyota zinatoka how much then come tell us who are the real money pits.
Anyway hio jab umepiga watu wa audi imenichekesha sana 😁😁😂
