    Yes, anyone can paint. But -- not everyone can do a great job. You do a great job. I love the way you think about painting. I imagine your clients are very happy with your work. I'm learning a lot from your channel. I'm not a professional painter, I just paint my own home, but I subscribed, anyway, because I think this is valuable information. Thanks for doing these.

    Thank you so much! I painted my walls before with a paint very affordable that took long time to dry ( olimpic I think it was) but today I got the BM Aura and I’m very worry about the reviews saying it’s not for diyers, I’m scare to destroy my new walls in the new bathroom, but after seeing a couple of your videos I feel a lot less stressful and ready to start. God bless !

      If you are going to use the Aura, please watch this video first.

      @@DaveMartin thank you! I did watch it, it was a life saver!!!.I already had the Aura paint but next time I’ll try the Regal that you recommend… well my bathroom is done now with Aura and I love the results, but honestly I freaked out after the first coat and was so disappointed of my poor skills, but then I applied the second coat following your advice, and that was all I needed! It turned out beautiful. I now think that it wasn’t difficult, just unexpectedly different than other less expensive paint. And I think it’s worth the price. Thank you for sharing your expertise for free, God bless you 🙏🏼.

      @@DaveMartin I used a different paint for the ceiling ( a “ceiling paint”) but it’s a low ceiling and gets very steamy it’s not holding nice like the aura on my walls, (they still perfect).Do you think it’s a good idea to repaint the ceiling using aura ? It’s as good on the ceiling as on the walls ? Or what would you recommend for low ceilings ( shower). Thank you!

      @@Joelsprincess In high moisture areas, like the bathroom, a higher sheen should be used on the ceiling. The Aura would be good, but I would really recommend the Scuff-X, it's really durable, tougher than the Aura, and cheaper. It is a Benjamin Moore product as well.

    Nice job. It looks like you use a regular pole and handle rather than quick release. I get super frustrated with regular ones as I find they have a tendency to loosen up while painting. That's just me though.

    • @DaveMartin
      @DaveMartin  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm actually using a broom handle ;-) I find them so much more convenient.

    FANTASTIC TIPS AND CONTENT!
    AS IN THIS DEMONSTRATION, DOES THE CUT INN-LINES ON THE WALLS GIVE YOU ISSUES
    (HALLOWING) DUE TO DRYING PRIOR STARTING YOUR WALLS BEING ROLLED OUT??! KEEP UP THE AMAZING WORK👍🏻

      So I don't think I'm sure exactly what you mean, but if I do understand you correctly, try watching this video on maintaining a wet edge th-cam.com/video/Ch6O7cBtuyU/w-d-xo.html

    Great video! I know u mentioned u put 2 coats on wall- do you cut in twice when doing 2 coats? Or only need to cut once, make sure it’s dry, then roll 2 coats? TIA

    • @DaveMartin
      @DaveMartin  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I apply two coats when cutting in, and two coats when rolling.

  • @jasonlanggin5132

    So question with cutting
    If I want 2 coats do I cut in first let dry
    Then roll all walls let dry , then cut in again let dry then last coat of paint rolled on?
    It’s crazy sounding letting it dry I figure would make it look weird but you seem to know your stuff so ;)

    Thanks for the great video, I used a very good quality paint, two coats, before the paint I used two coats of primer as well, maintained a wet edge, it’s been two days and if I look at the wall from the sides, I can see certain areas that are darker, is the paint still drying?

      @@DaveMartin I had already seen that video. The paint is starting to dry, it’s taking longer than other portions of the wall, I can only assume at this point that the overlap portions of the wall are taking longer to dry for whatever reason. I appreciate you reaching out, thanks!

      @@marcoresendiz1285 Unless it's an oil base paint, it doesn't make that it's not completely dry. Is it cold there, do you have poor insulation, when you touch the walls are they cold?

    • @marcoresendiz1285
      @marcoresendiz1285 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DaveMartin the walls are plaster, maybe the original paint was oil based, but this condo has been painted so many times before we came in. I used two coats of 123 primer (brand) and two coats of emerald by SW. I live in southern CA, so it’s stays around the 70’s on average and I have no insulation under the walls.

      To be honest, I am not a fan of Behr; I mostly use Benjamin Moore. Since I have not used Behr in years, it's going to be hard to help as I am unaware of its nuances these days.

    Superb video. I learned a LOT. When you say, "if you see a spot you missed, after a few minutes, let it dry," does that mean you can fix that area after the wall has dried (without re-painting the entire wall)? Also, why do you use a 1/2 or 3/4 inch nap - is that for rougher-textured walls? Thanks!!

    • @DaveMartin
      @DaveMartin  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you make a mistake, you want to make sure that once it starts drying you do not roll back into that area as it will cause issues; I have a video on maintaining a wet edge that covers this problem th-cam.com/video/Ch6O7cBtuyU/w-d-xo.html . If you are using a good quality paint you should not have a problem just rolling the said problem area; quality paints will blend much better than inferior paints.
      As for using a 1/2" or 3/4" nap take a look at this video and see if it helps answer your question: th-cam.com/video/6XNPSnFXYLg/w-d-xo.html
      Thanks!
