Yes i agree! I actually live very close to a private christian library that i take books out from and it also has a dedicated room with homeschool cirriculum you can take out for the school year. Its a win win! When i go to our public library , i usually have it on hold from looking for it online
I completely agree. I do take my kids to the library but I’m very involved in what they are looking at or checking out. The reality is, I can’t keep them in a bubble and I’d like to be there when they come across an iffy book and then we talk about it - what the book says is true v. What God says is true. I’ve had to ban graphic novels at times. I do see a lot of rainbow picture books, but interestingly, they never seem to be checked out.
I think there would be some good books there, but I'm a bit disgusted by their range. Totally agree about not bubble wrapping them! We have secular family, so they get a fair bit of exposure that way. And I try to talk about the differences not cover them over. God bless dear friend.
Such a timely video. My youngest 2 children just joined the lego club at the town library. I was super cautious going forward already but this totally confirmed my thoughts
Yeah, look, some aren't too bad but many libraries are awful. Our one is now completely off limits. As much as anything, it's the complete silence about God that disturbs me.
Yes, but there is hope! Sometimes I am excited to see I have more evangelical opportunities precisely because this world is so very broken. God bless you friend.
I teach my children to be like Christ and love everyone and not judge anyone, no matter what. It is good to learn to love all people like commanded. "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself" (I don't see any exceptions here? do you?) Anyone who judges others isn't a Christ follower, they have made up their own religion of hate to suit their human wants and sins. That being said this is a no brainer, you should always be involved with you children and what they are up to so you can have conversations that don't shelter them, so they aren't shocked when they leave the nest (age appropriate of course).
I agree with you. How do you define "judge" though? Do you judge your babysitters suitability for instance. I feel you would be quite judgy in this instance...which is very appropriate! Definitions are important. I'm happy not to judge someone who drinks but I will judge a curriculum that points them on their way to hell... because I really believe in it and want everyone to be saved.
Wow. I see it has gotten quite blatant out there. This is very helpful for parents who want to protect their children, thank you for sharing this. Also, please look into what woke actually means and not just fall for political stunts, where the term is misused.
@@howtohomeschool Clear as mud 😂 I can believe it! It originally referred to racial injustice. It seems to have been hijacked as of late. Here are some excerpts of what I’ve read. “…the term was originally coined by progressive Black Americans and used in racial justice movements in the early to mid-1900s. To be "woke" politically in the Black community means that someone is informed, educated and conscious of social injustice and racial inequality” “A historical recording of the protest song "Scottsboro Boys" by Lead Belly in the 1930s -- as captured by Smithsonian Folkways, the non-profit record label of the National Museum -- is often cited as one of the earliest uses of the term. The Scottsboro Boys were nine Black teenagers falsely accused of raping two white women aboard a Southern Railroad freight train in northern Alabama in 1931 in a case that lasted decades, according to the National Museum of African American History and Culture. In the recording of the Lead Belly song several years after the incident, "stay woke" urged Black Americans to be aware of the potential for racist violence in the South.” "Because 'woke' is associated with Black people, it's been a useful club for those who want to beat those seeking justice over the head with white grievance politics to win elections without deploying explicitly racist terms," Hope that helps. Thank you for your willingness for open discussion 👏🏽
Yes. I stopped a few months ago. My son was so disappointed. So I said he could go again (meanwhile keeping a close eye on things). He was allowed to borrow ONE book. He didn't realize it was one on Halloween, which scared him in the end (I don't think he had a good flick-through). But that might have been God having my back in that situation ❤
@howtohomeschool Your video made me realize that once my eldest is more of an independent reader, I'm going to have to order all her books by phone and just pick them up. Our local library is also woke, and I'm already plucking preK books out of my daughter's hands when she finds some woke nonsense or literally anything that puts a positive spin on witches, even Strega Nona. I grew up in a secular household so I was exposed to all manner of books and shows including witchcraft, since the 90s saw an explosion in the "friendly / helpful witches" idea. I got Saved at 33 shortly after my eldest was born and have decided to guard my children's hearts and minds against all the stuff I grew up with.
God Bless you Momma for being brave. God give us wisdom to protect our children. MOMs out there OPEN YOUR EYES!!
Thanks for this comment. I really appreciate it :)
It's true, we must be vigilant with our kids.
Yes! So true.

Oh that is so good! We have a Christian library at our church, but not much good kids literature.

Thank for this video… God bless you and your family…. May God help us in this world that is in ruins 😢.

Yes, it has. What do you define Woke as? I read a whole article on it and it was quite conclusive of many things! Which was perhaps as clear as mud 😂

I dont take my kids to the library anymore because of this

Love your channel. New subscriber.
Welcome aboard! Glad you're here :)
The one i notice in my local libray is mostly about witchcraft. Just horrible 😮
Eww...that's so sad!
"I call it Paganism 101". You and I could very easily be friends.😂 That's literally how I talk.
Haha... yes. I'm often sad because I used to really enjoy the library but now I feel so uncomfortable in it!
