My hip flexors Ache - all the time - like they’re inflamed. Is ‘ache’ the same as ‘pain’ when talking about hip pain?

I'm trying to figure out the name of my problem. I have tenderness right below the front of my left hip joint. A secondary problem I have that appears to be impacted by my front hip pain is pain in my lower left back. I was told an x-ray showed arthritis in my left SI joint and lower spine. But my doctor (my doctor likes to limit appointments to 10 minutes so she's not very invested) and the physical therapist I've been working with for almost a year now have told me that the issue might be a sidamage (been told both that it's to mobile and that it's the opposite of being too mobile), bursitis, tfl tightness, and a handful of other things. I do the various physical therapy routines that I'm given religiously, but the pain is only getting worse (had to give up walking as a leisure activity and am starting to limp) my left side isn't getting any stronger. I had surgery on my left foot two decades ago after I was informed that foot was broken. I don't know how I broke it or even when it happened. But I know I don't walk correctly and that my current issues are probably caused by my left foot being flat and my toes protruding out to the left. I also have nerve damage on the left inside of my ankle and tarsal tunnel (both of which I can't feel at all). I was wondering if you had any ideas on what I might have? Or any tests I should put myself through in order to determine just what part of my hipper back is the source of the problem? Thank you for your time! Cheryl

This pain has caused me to fall many times and now I have to walk with a cane. I can’t thank you guys enough for all the wonderful Therapy session you give us. I know With continuing these exercises I will be able to dump this cane and walk pain free. 🙏🏻💕

    OMG!!🤩
These reduced a great deal of pain along my IT band, too!💫💯🤩
I tried the door stretch for hip mobilization and it felt soooo good! I had to use my dog's leash, though; she was very confused & frustrated about why I had grabbed her leash and opened the door but didn't go out, and then I closed it immediately while still holding her leash. Then I made her sit & stay while I PLAYED with HER leash.
    (The NERVE!)
My hip felt better enough to finally(!) take her for a decent short walk afterward, though, so it was worth it for both of us.

About two weeks ago the front right part of my hip started to hurt when I would stand up and start to walk, it eases after a few steps. Anyway, did the belt cause this problem? I tried putting it back on after this problem arose but it doesn't help in that area. HELP Thanks

Oh. I am so excited for this. I fell hard 2 months ago (hit the outside of my hip but it's the inside/groin area that's hurting). Now I can barely even sit down for 30 minutes. I will definitely give this a try

I think doing that first move (the glute one) is how I ended up with the pain in the first place. When standing it just goes out of place for a moment and it hurts

I think this is exactly the issue I'm having from what you described. If I'm walking for longer than 10 minutes, I start getting hip pain in the front and side of my hip and it burns as I continue walking. When I elongate my step to the back, I get relief. But it doesn't always help. I think these stretches may help me eliminate the pain. I'll find out. Thank you! ❤️

I had a hip replacement about 10 months ago... the hip feels fine - but I have had such bad groin pain - nothing has helped. Did my hip replacement cause this?

I had a THR close to 15 years ago. Anterior incision, NO restrictions (other than not to wrap my feet behind my neck... as if I ever could!). I still get occasional groin pain when fatigued or need to stretch, even with years of weekly Pilates Reformer & CoreAlign classes. The booty lifts (1st exercise) & bridging (esp. one-leg bridges) have helped to strengthen the muscles of THR hip, & the 2nd exercise is a great stretch for both hips. I'm not even tempted to try that last one Brad demonstrated with the yoga strap!

I think I have something similar to this but the pain is deeper in the groin - so far from looking around i think it could be iliopsoas tendonitis or dancers hip - if i push the hip forward and rotate outward 45 degrees from standing, i feel a pain deep near the groin and it also feels as though my hip bone is clipping the painful muscle ( sorry I cant explain it better lol). Ive have had this for some years and its restricted my jiujitsu training. Any recommendations?

Do you think these stretches can help even if the source of the pain is not an orthopedic issue? In my case, the pain I have in my hip might be due to endometriosis or fibromyalgia (I still haven't gotten an accurate diagnosis)

    • @BobandBrad

You can try it but since we are unable to examine you and know your specific situation, we would feel more comfortable if you spoke with your doctor first since they know your specific situation.

Ever since I was a kid, my hip would "get a bubble" and I would do a weird shake/kick and it would "pop". Now that I'm old, sometimes, I'm unable to affect my cure so I think these may help. I don't know. Maybe the one has nothing to do with the other.

I was in big trouble yesterday with hip flexor impingement. Must have thrown the bad hip out of whack while sleeping. I did some of these exercises then took a hot shower and used arthritis cream. I was good to go the rest of the day.!
My question is, should I do this exercise every day or only when I feel like the front of the hip and flexor are out of whack? I’ve been doing butt muscle strengthening exercises daily.

Word of caution! I love these guys in general, but really made my hip pain WORSE by doing the strap around the doorknob . Did it exactly as demonstrated, and with caution. Two days in a row 10 reps front and side. Hip area really hurts worse with pain radiating thru out quad. It's been a week with no let up. So disappointed.

They mentioned a few reasons why one should not do that, one of them being hypermobility. I am hypermobile and I since knowing this I have learned more about what doesn't work for me and why. Maybe you are also hypermobile?

I have been suffering for 3 years. I need a left hip replacement. My orthopedic surgeon says my ball joint is an egg. Severe arthritis in both hips. I have a question for you both. I get radiating feelings throughout the area and if I step the wrong way I almost fall down. I do have several back/disc issues. My question to you is, could the radiating feelings through my hips with osteoarthritis be from my discs and all the issues in my back? Does severe arthritis in your hips cause radiating feelings in your groin. That is an important question because I have been suffering for at least three years. You guys are fantastic. I would really appreciate any input thank you I really enjoy all of your videos you help me so much.
