- Costco has Baseball Cards!?!? Game changer? I found this at Costco for $33.99!!! So many packs for that price!
This came with Topps series 1, 2, Update, three packs of exclusive “Flagship Collection”, one exclusive Base Card, and one exclusive Jumbo card.
So many different items in this bundle for the price! What do you guys think?!

Topps gotta do away with that oversized card thing. Hardly anyone wants to have a giant 5 x 7 card in their collection.

I remember when Costco's precursor, Price Club, used to sell wax boxes of 87 Topps. I remember being a kid and seeing boxes of baseball cards on the shelf there and drooling, especially when the next year's release hit. As I recall, they continued selling wax boxes there until about 1993. Fun break!

Yep. When Costco was just for businesses only, that's why it was started, they sold boxes of cards in the late 80's early 90's.

When you sleeve your card... Sleeve from the top, so when you place it into the topholder... It won't slip out of the holder.
I love how they’re brining back old school 90s black gold cards.
Topps Black Gold cards were inserts back in the early to mid 90's (1993 being the first year) and I can recall getting my first one and being super excited! My brother was so jealous!
That Corbin black gold may not be worth much but it sure does bring back the memories!

Definitely a cool opening. Woulda been a bit better if they weren’t retail packs, maybe one hobby for each series. The Adley and Jung from the silver packs, and the Corbin black and gold were the 3 best cards. To pull big time cards outta here is tough but honestly it’s a good price for what you get considering blaster boxes are $25 plus tax.

Back in the day, Costco had baseball cards in the 90's. I bought several Fleer Ultra boxes in 1993 from there.
I will definitely grab one or two for the channel that was fun

CORBIN CARROLL BLACK GOLD is a grade worthy card. PSA 10's are good money! These are similar to the Walmart Super Boxes. The Jordan Walker card is a companion card and is different than his regular series rookie card in that that serial number is different. The Walmart Super Boxes were $34.99-39.99 retail. The Stars of the MLB is a Topps Chrome so that was nicer than the basic Topps Stars of the MLB card.

Card companies in todays generation have trained us to look for numbered shiny cards with autographs on them. If none are found we go into withdrawals and seek out more.

Some of those Stars of MLB cards are Chrome, and those are nice... Those will say Chrome right underneath the Topps name on the front of the card.

Looks fun. Series 1 & 2 are split from opening day. Update is rookies bought up and trades usually. The blue borders are Walmart exclusive cards and it's believed they are out of 5000.

The black gold is a throwback to the early 90s. There was one to a box and it was about 50 cards to the set.

I too am a Brewers fan and live in WI.
Blue borders are just parallel version; royal blue 1:3. The /999 are the Blue Foil. All Aces are nice, that one is just a regular version but they do have parallel versions of all the inserts as well(which is kind of annoying that the inserts have inserts). Stars of MLB are 1:1 out of retail packs. Stars of MLB Chrome are 1:10. Both also have parallel variants. I might pick up a couple of these if I can make it to Costco this weekend.

Not since all the fights after 1990 Leaf (Frank Thomas year). Also 1989 and 1990 Fleer Basketball. Also carried TONS of 1989 Upper Deck (Griffey year). Griffey’s were tough to get since they came out of the factory in Yorba Linda Ca in 800 count boxes directly to a huge baseball card show in Walnut, CA 10 miles north of the factory.

Some of the stars of mlb inserts are chrome they usually are worth more look in corner it will say chrome i think you got a couple and sidewsys cards are sometimes sp or ssp or varient

Topps must've printed the heck out of this stuff...to be basically releasing a new product, but using the same cards printed many months ago (except for the Costco set). Great price though.
The last time Costco sold baseball cards was the junk era... here we go again. You did pull a sweet Adley for my O's in those special packs. Love seeing cards with this years hometown special jerseys.

When costco starts selling baseball cards, it is officially the start of another junk Era. Tops is jumping the shark and dumping mass amounts of product into the market for their final year as its own company. The one year i get back into card collecting... Thanks mom for those boxes of Donrust in the nineties, can't ever have too many diamond kings.

Blue parallel cards
It's just a standard Royal Blue parallel 1:3. I think the purple parallel packaged loose in the plastic on cardboard single packs would be the retailer exclusive but I've only seen those at Meijer(not to be confused with the Purple Foil /799 which is 1:39).
Panini is far too stupid of a company to have cards in Costco besides panini retail is just about the worst thing you can waste your money on
I miss the days where getting a panini retail box had actual chances of getting a hit.
This was great video of how out of control the current junk wax era of all time we are currently in when you start seeing Topps selling product at Costco. I would think the packs would be worth more left sealed if you want to sell them in 20 years and have a senior citizen Jeff Wilson use a reverse mortgage PPP loan to buy a sealed pack from you for $10K.....LOL... Fleer!!! Seriously tho this was a nice video.

I like it overall. I just wish it was all Update packs. Topps unloading Series 1 and 2 packs in these.

Oooh, ok these are interesting. I assume the odds are the same as blasters w/the regular packs, so getting two numbered cards was probably more luck than a normal occurrence, but at least they seem to be normal retail and not some trimmed down product. $9 more expensive than a blaster, with a couple of extra packs (a standard Update blaster has 7 packs; this has one fewer Update + a couple of series 1 and 2, which some years wouldn't be a fair trade but in 2023 that's fine). Between the extra packs, the exclusive Flagship Collection packs, and the fun oversize, yeah, I dig it.
As someone else in the comments noted, you didn't get $34 worth of cards, but, like, opening packs is always going to be a negative unless you get lucky. At the very least this product gave you some solid dart throws and, in lieu of a big hit, I wouldn't be shocked if gemming up key rookies out of the Flagship Collection packs would end up a positive.
Opening packs up is always a gamble but for the price I think it’s worth ripping them open!
not a bad ROI. 34 bucks, The Corbin Carrol- and Otani inserts and you have a anthony volpe rookie debut card in there. those 3 cards you could bundle together for 50$ all day IMO
Yep, to me $34 is worth the risk. We pretty much pay that for crappy blaster boxes anyway

That's a nice box of cards for that price. We don't have them at my local Costco yet but thankfully my daughter is the first one who will know when and if the store gets them in.

Series 1 retail was notorious for having no hits but a respectable checklist ….series 2 has a better checklist …update sucks….and 🗑️ the jumbo card
All aces cards are common inserts, unless you get a parallel. Glad you put a sleeve on it. Gotta protect those 50¢ inserts! (Sorry for the sarcasm) Looks like a good bargain if you get a banger or two.

Honestly I didn’t see anything wrong with the way this guy was opening packs.
It’s the guys who just buy boxes of cards and just care about one chase card. This guy seemed to genuinely enjoy the packs. Thats all that matters.
Series 2 update is better the jumbos are worth it if you can afford it

thanks for the review, it would be nice if you were familiar with the products. Also, Panini is not topps and probably will not see Mosaic, Optic, Prizm or any other Panini products at Costco. Also, if you were not aware, Panini has lost the NBA, NFL licensing and starting in 2025 Fanantics?Topps with possess the license and then could possibly see football and basketball in Costco then.
Similar to the Super Box Topps had for Series 1. The three special packs are the main focus unless you happen to hit a low numbered rookie in the base retail packs.
I’ll be opening more to try to pull one of those!
For the price these are well worth it. I don't know how many ssp and so I've pulled from value packs

Blue is actually retail/non-hobby exclusive. Non numbered but estimated that print run is in the 700-1000 range. They are actually a harder pull than the numbered gold /2023 cards but worth way less for some reason.

Buyer beware 😂...series one was generally despised by collectors because of the low chances of hitting any good inserts/parallel cards... series two was generally received better and update was met with meh reviews... thing about all those fancy colored parallels is that unless you hit a big rookie or vet card that's low numbered then what you have is a cool looking card and not much more...the silver packs are the ones that will probably hold most value... gotta keep print run in mind too... series one and two have already seen hobby and jumbo boxes along with ALOT AND I MEAN A LOT of retail configuration...makes ya wonder how high the print runs are and how desperate Topps is to move product... especially series one 😎
Ya I agree on the print runs. They gotta find the happy medium between covid times and last year. As a collector I’m happy to see so much product on the shelf but as a investor it’s scary lol
