    You are great! A few monts ago I bought 20 English books (level advanced and lower intermediate). I really like read books! Unfortunatelly they need to wait. But I'm reading a short stories. It's important, because when you read simple story you take after all this words which you have lerned. I greet you and I look forward to another English movie!

    Tip number zero, before all the others, is to have your eyes checked to be sure that, if you need vision correction to see as well as possible, you have that correction, or, if you already have vision correction, that your prescription is as correct as is possible.

    Could you please tell me when we use verbs like want, become. ... With continuous tenses as we know they are not used with such tenses
    but I've read them in the present continuous in some contexts
    thank you very much

    • @AntoniaRomaker
      @AntoniaRomaker  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +mahmoud fouad
      Present Continuous can be used to describe an action that is going on during this period of time or a trend:
      Are you still working for the same company?
      More and more peopleare becoming vegetarian.
      As for "want" I have never seen it it continuous tenses. Anyway the basic principle of Present Continuous is always there - a temporary action, which is true within a short period of time.

    How long did it take you to become fluent in English? I'm trying to learn Russian, and it's not the easiest!

    • @Neomalthusiano
      @Neomalthusiano 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +hi i might be andy It's way easier for a Russian to learn English than the other way around. Russian language has concepts that English don't, like cases.
      How much it will take depends a lot on your reality (e.g. Is there easy access to media in Russian where you live? Do you have a language gift? Can you speak it to someone? etc...).
      In general I would say 500 hours

    • @patoyassir
      @patoyassir 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just talk with people on Skype, nobody is gifted. You have to talk 1 or 2 hours a day with a language partner who is learning English.

  • @lecobra418
    @lecobra418 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    As a total beginner in Russian I want to try to read a complete book. Metpo 2033 a book that I loved translated in French and who gives me the urges to understand Russian language.
    I want to do it step by step, reading a complete page and try to fully understand it by using the french one to guide me through, does it seems stupid to you ?
    It will be the third language I study (well the second beside my mother tongue even if I should studied it as well) and I'm kinda scared that it will be too much information, but I don't know my main problem is speaking, I have hard time speaking but I could write for days (with a lot of mistakes tho)... it's kinda frustrating to perfectly knowing a sentence and to cannot tell it when it needs to be told.
    You're a great teacher tho, really kind, funny and pretty which must be a tremendous asset to keep your student focused during class :p

    • @AntoniaRomaker
      @AntoniaRomaker  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      reading a boom like this is a good idea, although if you are a beginner it will be very hard and confusing, perhaps it's better to start with something simpler ;)

    • @lecobra418
      @lecobra418 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Antonia, it's quite difficult to find such book for learning Russian in France it's like library only got English books :/
      So I'm kinda limited on my choice, adapted book is a real pain in the *** to find if not nearly impossible !
      Aaaand I don't feel like doing it the easy way, I love when it better when it is hard, don't you ? :)

    • @AntoniaRomaker
      @AntoniaRomaker  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well yeah, but sometimes I just want to enjoy the process more by understanding more ;) as when you do it the hard way (while reading), you need to use the dictionary nonstop, and it can be frustrating.

    • @lecobra418
      @lecobra418 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's true, brain loves to have fun... I will give it a go my way and if it doesn't work I will sweep to yours, I'm kinda stubborn. :p

    Наоборот, большой соблазн смотреть каждое новое слово в словаре. Более распространенный совет - не смотреть в словарь, насколько это возможно для понимания происходящего в книге. Я пробовал читать по-разному, но наибольшее удовольствие именно от самого чтения получалось тогда, когда вообще не было возможности посмотреть в словарь.

    • @AntoniaRomaker
      @AntoniaRomaker  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Согласна, что удовольствия так больше, но толку не очень много. Хотя если новых слов многовато, то тогда понятно, но в таком случае лучше выбрать другую книгу, более подходящую по уровню.
