My theory is that they could and can totally make a functioning STG-44, but couldn't make it cheap enough to appeal to the masses and turn enough of a profit
While it’s not a bad take, I think they bought the project from HMG and it was completely designed by incompetent people, and they realized they wouldn’t be able to release them anytime soon, if they even dump the money into actually fixing the design
HMG was listing them for $1500 or something, then PSA was saying itd be $1800. I'm sure the final cost would have broken the $2000 threshold without question.
That or they could only make the gun really work with 7.92x33 and they have been having trouble with all of the other calibers. PSA probably figures that not many people are willing to buy a rifle that shoots a very expensive proprietary caliber.
HK must not know its customer base as well as they think they do. I would assume most people buying HK products don't want it tailored to the American shooter, they probably want the same guns that they sell to the European market.
The STG is a weird beast. There are 3 things that make it really tricky. 1), it requires a lot of stamped steel, which is really tricky to start up. 2) the bolt doesn't have actual rails to ride on, and one of the main things that keeps it going straight is the auto sear. 3) the lock up system is legit weird and requires both good heat treat and good machining. Not defending PSA in the least, especially since they did say they would honor the HMG preorders. But as with almost every WWII German gun, re-making them is waaaaaaay harder than most people think.

Ive also heard from a hk gunsmith that also teaches classes on running mp5's that the clones break down fairly regularly in classes when run hard. Henry from 9 hole reviews did a video on what parts he swaps out with hk parts when he buys a clone. Sounds difficult to manufacture to self defense capable. Jp makes their own ar version with buffer tube and it's over $3k. I think the stg44 is also hard to make, especially if you want to clone it correctly and be reliaable. 6200 for that. Supposedly the stg44 is still being used in conflicts here and there. I just don't think these 2 weapons can be made for psa prices and be anything but a door stop. If i was rich i would get a stg44 and run it for fun. 8mm kurz. Bet that's expensive too.
Not big on PSA for serious stuff but they make some cool range toys and I was kinda excited for the STG. I’ve seen some manufacturers that make them in 22lr but was hoping they’d come out with one that has a more modern round or maybe even a 7.62x39 or 5.45, even some pistol calibers would be cool. Just don’t know about that original caliber. It’s something weird. Still PSA is more known to me for what they’ve said they would make them have up on. I’d think they should worry about making their quality control better on their AR’s and AK’s rather than making anything new at all.
I remember checking HMG's site for like years 2017-2020 to see if they would ever change the STG44 description would ever change from "coming 2017" and it never did. I assumed it was dead until PSA promised it. I think I always knew deep down this was coming...
To all the under-informed folks who want a legitimate, USA built StG-44.... DK productions is now making them in the USA. It's being done now. Major channels have already reported this - how do most folks still not know about it? The price is 6000 at the moment, but accuracy and quality is supposedly outstanding. Buy one if you want to.
"Idk about HK being that great. These are the same people that started using the same material used to make those glow in the dark stars kids put on their ceiling to make night sights, and using deceptive marketing. Not only did they swap from tritium to that for a while, bit they didn't change the SKUs, leading to people buying guns and slides thinking they were getting actual night sights. Why did they do this? To save on cost, according to them. And this is on already expensive guns, or even slides that cost about as much as a gun."

Isn’t there a company called DK Productions making clone correct (with a 16” barrel) STG44s? Also, the one thing I REALLY want to see from H&K is a civilian legal HK21! P.S. Thanks, Gary!
and like the ACR, nobody wants to take the responsibility of having that big of shoes to fill. when everybody would have had, very high expectations of either platform, that they most likely couldn't live up to.
HK is manufacturing in the US so it can suck profit out of the US by overpaying the foreign parent for the use of HK patents and marks. It's also less expensive to manufacture in the US compared to Germany in the post-2022 world.
Yep, they aren't cheap but appear to be good. That company also has the ability to produce many more german products from the '30s & '40s. Ian had a video showing the machinery and components in the german production facility and even crawled down into a firing tunnel to try one. I think the original decision to make a new version multi-caliber with cartridges longer than the kurz was a mistake. If anything, only after ensuring the original caliber and design worked should caliber conversions have been considered/tried and even then, only calibers the same size or smaller than kurz like the .30 carbine.
@FocusTripp seems like PSA always has to have some type of an Iconic platform, to keep consumers interested and watchin for PSA's actual offering's. like you I prefer modern platforms, and would love to actually see something that hasn't been done before, or even a futuristic design aesthetic.
This project will never see the light of day again. Not by PSA at least. Someone will take it off their hands and make made to order rifles for prolly 1800-2000. Which probably won’t be much more than the sh*t they were gonna make anyway. Least you’d get a quality made product.
Idk, id give them a pass for not coming out with the mp5, it would have been a lot of trouble shooting most likely and then youve got like 3 or 4 other companies who jumped into it already. It would have been a big tooling money pit for them that wouldnt have sold enough to cover that. The mp7 5.7 clone would sell more and not need all the stamping tooling.
30:55 i said this exact comment under tfb's video. I already own a bunch of micro compact 9's. Don't need another that does nothing different. What i want is a p7 or a ump or a mp7. Hk needs to listen to its customer base and release guns people want.
No fucking way it’s just over lmaooooo Kinda figured that’s what was going to happen though. Zero news and a “2024” release. Ngl I was excited but. 🤷🏻♂️ what can you do. RIP to whoever preordered LOL
Could be they actually tested them and at a high round count they energetically disassembled themselves in a way dangerous to their profit margin. Like early Beretta and Colt slides shearing off and hitting the shooter in the face.
I'm honestly kinda disappointed about it. Ive been getting into retro guns lately but don't really care about buying authentic ones. Rather buy something I can shoot and won't blow up but still that old design. Obviously would have waited to see if their version wasn't junk before buying one but still pretty bummed about the whole thing.
Somewhat sad but not unexpected. Too many of the gun owners only want ANOTHER AR. Very tired of this attitude. I love AR's but how many not much different/not different models do we really need? If PSA would actually QC their stuff better I would be buying more of them. I agree that they are the McDonalds of the gun manufacturing.
😂I think probably what happened, they get their first batch off the production line and their horrific two and three guns aren't sellable one in five will not cycle😂 with horrific quality control wild variation in parts
PSA should focus on improving their quality control, rather releasing new firearms/product lines.

Some people aren’t meant to be in front of the camera, let alone their kids. Glad he was able to help the channel as he did.
It's a shame really. STG44s were notoriously unreliable so if anyone was going to make an clone correct version it was PSA.
Oh and screw PSA - I hope they lost tons of money on buying the design and the R&D!!! 🙂
@@justanothergunnerd8128 most people, me included, probably didn't know because the cost is 6 grand.
I'm just glad that PSA didn't move forward with the STG-44 and make the end user Beta Testers.....which is their modus operandi.
Thank you Gary 🫡
No thanks Gary
Whoa.... Every stream I would make it a point to chastise Gary and ask why he's even here.... But messing with the man's family?!? Come on now, what the actual hell is wrong with people?!?
I wasn't even gonna comment on this stream, but your comments fueled me every week man. ❤
@@feetoorourke Hey man, no hard feelings. I'm sure you'll be back some day. Just take the criticism as a grain of salt and for God's sake use a push to talk keybind 🤗
That intro was perfect!
Imagine that!!! With the whole history of this gun I really feel sorry for the ones who paid for theirs to the scammer.
Oh, there are absolutely STG 44‘s owned in private hands in the US. They’re not exceptionally rare. My local has two of them in his personal collection and they are transferable. sounds like Hill and Mac. grossly over promised what could be delivered to PSA.
Thank you Gary
Isn’t there a company called DK Productions making clone correct (with a 16” barrel) STG44s? Also, the one thing I REALLY want to see from H&K is a civilian legal HK21!
P.S. Thanks, Gary!
"Mosbius designs...has failed" energy 😂😅
Like their AKs, they bought bad specs. Unlike their AKs, they decided to not produce a bad gun.
Still waiting on that MP5 Julio.
and like the ACR, nobody wants to take the responsibility of having that big of shoes to fill. when everybody would have had, very high expectations of either platform, that they most likely couldn't live up to.
HK is manufacturing in the US so it can suck profit out of the US by overpaying the foreign parent for the use of HK patents and marks. It's also less expensive to manufacture in the US compared to Germany in the post-2022 world.
All my homies hate HK(I want a 10mm HK USP)😂
Military arms channel did a video a month ago saying a stg44 from someone else is available. 6200 pricewise.
Yeah seriously. Thanks for a striker fired carry gun HK glad you showed up to that market.
Can the 338 arc subsonic do anything that the 458 socom subsonic can’t already do?
100% I would have bought one.
Me too, for $2500. I wanted it that bad.
Thanks Gary.
Gracias Gary!!
They shelved the only thing alot of people were excited over smh
PSA would have been better off hiring Ian McCollum to help develop the firearm correctly.
Thanks Gary. So sorry that people were being dicks especially to your kids, no one deserves that.
Danke Gman.
Will that HK fit in
The MCK Taurus chassis?
THANKS GARE BEAR. I MEAN GARY.
This project will never see the light of day again. Not by PSA at least. Someone will take it off their hands and make made to order rifles for prolly 1800-2000. Which probably won’t be much more than the sh*t they were gonna make anyway. Least you’d get a quality made product.
Thanks Gary. Like Not Gay Jarred, I now miss you that you're gone.
What movie clip is that in the beginning?
Iron man 2008
Why Gary why I liked your invites hope things get better for you and your family
Psa needs to focus on QC and stop wasting resources on stupid shit
No fucking way it’s just over lmaooooo
Kinda figured that’s what was going to happen though.
The M9 slide failed due to Winchester making bad ammo, not due to a problem with the slide.
😂I think probably what happened, they get their first batch off the production line and their horrific two and three guns aren't sellable one in five will not cycle😂 with horrific quality control wild variation in parts
picking on peoples family is low
Never been a fan of psa…they’ve never given me a reason to.
So no stg44? No mp5? Well they at least are good at cutting and running so they dont bankrupt the place ..ill say that's smart
No need for MP5 there's HK and Turkish clones...
They should be concentrating on making SVD or PSL at least.
Psa is a clone company with shit tier customer service. They do not like customers.
Like for the like god! Comments for the comment throne! F to pay respects for Gary
Is this a Glock 43 ten round ?
Yes it is, both the 43 and the 48, "which is a 43 with a 1" longer barrel ".
Germans can do what others can't
CK productions make working STG44 reproductions
Thank you Gary. ❤
