One of their more soothing songs for sure... Minerva packs tons of instrumental and vocal subtleties that you can only hear by studying the multitrack recordings.
Join me as I pour through some of the unique musical arranging and then reverse engineer some of the vocal effects as I analyze and enjoy Chino's incredible isolated vocal performance!

Deftones copyright owners will allow this video to remain on youtube but there must be consistent use of frequent stops. No one part of the the song in part or in whole can be played without frequent interruptions. This is partially why I stop and comment and sing during and after key sections that I play. If I just play the files, the video will be taken down. Presenting the files in this format with this kind of flow cements the FAIR USE intent which is why it can remain up on TH-cam. Along these lines, I can not reveal where or link to the source files or I'll get a takedown notice as well. Giving away content that is not mine to give also falls outside of FAIR USE intent. Thanks for understanding and for enjoying the video! I'm excited for you to hear all the wonderful nuances!

Is there any way to get a screenshot (or the scale degrees used) for the earworm song in the free Quickly Train your ears with David Walliman training with "The song (ear worm) that changes everything"?
I had started into it weeks or months ago and just got too busy... I've had the tab open on my browser for well over a month and just found out that the course is gone. I was really excited about it because I KNEW it was going to work, but I've just been too busy. :(
Is there any chance you could type in (more or less) the scale degrees of the earworm song? I don't care if it is off a little... just whatever you can think of from memory is GREAT because I can adjust it however with my guitar and make my own song, BUT the one you guys made up I was CERTAIN would work for me.
I didn't have time to finish the free Marc Martel warmup video either- which I'm still disappointed about. :(
Oh well... life goes on! :D
      Thanks for your great channel!
The Michael Jackson videos are SO GOOD! Great content!!!
Last... I'm curious if you have ever heard the Queensryche songs "Scarborough Fair" (cover) or " I will Remember" or "Take Hold of the Flame"?
(I forget which song you reacted to which was from the 2002 "Live Evolution" show I was at in Seattle, but, if you are interested, consider checking out one of those album versions because Geoff was a better singer pre-1998).
I guess that is as long as I can make this comment! :)

I don't mind when you stop, I never understood why people get upset about it. Like, the whole point of making the video is to provide commentary and analyze the content you're using. Otherwise you might as well just go listen to the content itself.

Some inspiration behind the style of Chinos vocals are my bloody valentine’s “Loveless” (for melodies and layering) as well as Elizabeth Fraser from Cocteau Twins (when he quivers/adds vibrato to his voice). Hopefully you know of those bands :)

I've listened to this track a hundred times before, but now I can hear it with new ears. Chino is such a heavy influencer, and like you said no doubt from owning his unique voice. Snare ring done perfectly I find helps a snare decay longer (giving the impression of hugeness) without sounding sploshy or muddy. Extending/delaying the sound of the crack or the spank too long can take up too much space.. So a ring decaying longer than the rest of the snare makes it feel longer.

Chris I'm adoring all these vocal breakdowns and have followed yours to work on my own covers (for Dragula/ Given Up/ Be Quiet and Drive!), they're extremely helpful!
I'd love it if you'd ever consider doing one for a band called The Midnight, they're a really popular 80s style synth group, and I bet there are other vocalists trying to mimic them too.

Great synopsis of a great song by great band. I hear the same thing with the bass and guitar players oftentimes forget that heavy distorted tones they chase after are almost always 2 or 3 multitracks mixed into one to get that super heavy, but TIGHT, driven yet clean tone.
