Good to have you back Slack ! I have to say, first time I used ship builder it kinda felt like I was having teeth pulled ! 😜 Here are ship builder controls for Xbox users: Move cursor: Left Stick (LS) Pan Camera: Right Stick (RS) Zoom Camera: Out - Left Trigger (LT) In - Right Trigger (RT) Undo: Dpad Left Redo: Dpad Right Move up: Dpad Up Move down: Dpad Down Select All: Move cursor to highlight any ship module, press Left Bumper (LB) Multi-select: Move cursor to first module, press Right Bumper (RB), move to next module, press RB, move to next module, press RB. Press A to select all highlighted modules Duplicate Item: Move cursor to highlight item, press Y (only available if item can be duplicated at current shipyard) Flip Item: Move cursor to highlight item, press A to select and Y to flip. (only available if item can be flipped. IE: Swapped left to right or lower to upper etc.) To delete entire ship: Move cursor to highlight any part of the ship, press LB to highlight all, press and hold X to delete. You can also delete, duplicate or flip (where available) items selected and highlighted with multi-select. I think that covers most of them. Great work as always Slack !
Nice job. I don't know about you but it took me a while to figure out the whole colouring your ship on console. At first it was a pain in the A$$ ... now I have a better idea of what I'm doing.
The worst thing I find with ship builder is how everything gets moved to your cargo hold every time you change something. Even if you just give the ship a respray. I''ve sold over 1000kg worth of stupid junk (coffee cups, dumbells, notepads etc) from my ship's junk inventory and you can only sell it one a t time. I really hope they do something about that or, at least, add a sell all option to the junk menu.
Thanks for this Slack. I only played around with upgrading items on a few ships to get some idea of what to do. I think I was around level 60 before I took the big plunge into shipbuilding. Over the last week or two I've been playing around and figuring out what I like the best. My ship may not win any awards for looks but it functions and fights the way I like and at the end of the day that's all that matters. Looking forward to what you bring us in your upcoming videos.
*if you are dragging a piece before you let go, you can use the up and down a level on the fly. Also, nice video. There are a number of shortcuts to the shipbuilder you missed, but regardless you got the work done.
thank you! Level 24 and still was having trouble figuring out the ship builder. At least I had used the upgrade menu to improve the reactor, shields and weapons, but I knew I was missing a lot.. Can't wait for the next vid to show how to trick this ship out.
Would have loved the master class on the Razorleaf, that ship is a bitch'n'a half to mod. And yes you can reset on Xbox you just use your back button, not the same as PC but yeah it is what it is 😢
I really enjoy your videos and this one was especially helpful and full of a lot of useful information. 2 things: 1 - where is the follow on video for the starter ship upgrade for low level newbies? 2 - you missed 2 weapon mount points on the bottom of the ramp module.
Thank you for the great ship building video, boss. The only thing I did in the builder so far was changing the cockpit and painting on my Shieldbreaker :)
Pro Tip: if you REALLY want to be a master with these videos, invest in an Xbox controller and you can get the xbox command by starting to use it (the command prompts effortlessly switch notation just by using the desired control device.) Note that I find using the controller often an easier device for building ships, but i typically use both throughout the game (though exclusively controller in flight).
The mission board (for outposts) is a standalone console. I place it near my outpost pylon so when I land it places me right next to the mission board (and bounty clearance kiosk). ...and I shift my outpost pylon next to the bottom of the stairs on the landing pad, so yes, you can 😉 Moving the outpost pylon after placing it does not alter the boundaries of your outpost (though you can delete the outpost and select a new spot if you prefer).
Oh I have been waiting for this. Can't wait to watch this like 5 time to get the hang of it. Also you changed the back loading ramp to the front Thank you so much for this.
@@MajorSlackAttack Yep. I knew there was a good word for it. My brain just struggled a bit trying to find it. And an error occurred. I just wish I knew how to make that error to just be a warning 🥴
It's not required. There is a dedicated 'Duplicate' action. Hold down Options and you'll see the Duplicate action listed in the control panel at the bottom.

I also avoided ship building because it was too frustrating.
Thanks for opening up this facet of game play for me!
Cool! Mission accomplished! 😎

@@teneche Totally agree. That option would so helpful
Thanks for this! Love the Major, but have problems translating PC/mouse controls to Xbox controller!
Love these how-to videos. Absolutely invaluable.

Awesome!
Who loves us?
Slack loves us!
And don’t you forget it
Ship building is the one place where a mouse is absolutely needed for console. Controllers are a pain.
I'm on PC but often switch to controller because it is MUCH easier.
Note: undo on xbox (or using the xbox controller on PC) is on the d-pad.
Glad you're feeling better Slack! Great topic for a series of videos.
Great info thank you Slack sure hope you're feeling better!
People have made some cool ships.
Another item that affects available parts is various quests. UC Vanguard, Stroud's artifact quest, and maybe some others.

How do I add item , as in after I have deleted shield, how and where do I get new shield to replace ..Playing on x box… HELP….

How to change the fuel cylinder connection from X direction to Y direction?

Can you place a building or structure next to the landing pad and put the mission board on that?
The mission board (for outposts) is a standalone console. I place it near my outpost pylon so when I land it places me right next to the mission board (and bounty clearance kiosk).
