A boy in New York is taken in by a wealthy family after his mother is killed in a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In a rush of panic, he steals 'The Goldfinch', a painting that eventually draws him into a world of crime.

Ok I know this is based off a book but what is this actually about??? I don’t get anything from the trailer and I’ve watched it three times. All I can tell from the trailer is that it’s one of those movies you would never actually watch unless it on tv or smtn
EDIT: I read the description and Some parts of the story don’t get portrayed well in the trailer. The book seems good but I still mostly wont be watching the movie
A boys mom dies in a bombing at museum and he steals a painting called the goldfinch because it was his moms favorite painting. He then goes to live in multiple different places before going to live with his abusive dad in Las Vegas. He befriends boris but he goes back home to live with a man he befriended named hobie because his dad dies. Years later he finds that the painting had been stolen by boris and they go off to Amsterdam to get it back
