Hey, @AntsCanada, you're way more of an ant expert than I will ever be, but I thought of something while watching and wanted to share my idea all the same. Perhaps along with the wood base, you could add some sawdust/wood shavings or a little bit of soil for the ants to move around as they would like? My idea is that they would be able to control the moisture levels of the various chambers themselves with a resource like that. Until the wood becomes soft/rotted enough for them to be able to chew into it. As you pointed out, the moisture level inside is really high, and I just worry that it could cause a bad mold infestation to break out. Thanks for taking the time to read my comment! I love the channel, ant love forever!!

Personally I am upset that we didn't get to watch them build the nest from scratch, but rather antscanada drilling it. I understand that a video needed to be created and treating the wood so that it would be preferable to the ants may have taken so long, but it still would have been cool to watch carpenter ants from the begining. Maybe that is just me?
Hey, I’ve used Vaseline to keep ants from coming inside our house through our bases and windows. And i only used thin layers of vaseline & or petroleum jelly around the edges. You should try slapping some on the top of the rim if the tank so that next time you want to keep the ants inside the tank!
Wow! I love the new colony setup! Carpenter ants are super common where I live and I've always loved watching them run around the woods outside my childhood home in Ohio. My mother never would let me keep an ant farm, but luckily my husband is just as fascinated with them, and this channel as I am! I really would love to make a carpenter ant species my first nest! Just have to keep learning and wait for nuptial flight season!

This year I became a 10 year veteran of your channel and it’s very enlightening watch you and the ants grow as the channel did. I have loved every second of regular videos and AC inner colony videos. Your channel was one my first that I ever subscribe to and it has been a great honor to how the big the AC family has gotten over the years. And thank you for everything you do. #Antloveforever
I think adding some soil in the middle then adding springtails will be beneficial. Wood molds when wet for prolonged periods of time. Something controlling it would be a good idea

Honestly it’s not even the ants it’s the wholesome love for life on earth that keeps bringing me to your videos man it’s so heart warming to see these things
Get this man to 5M he deserves it‚ all the stuff he's done to show how ants really are and to show entertainment for all of us and I will say he is a pro at ant keeping so get this man or should I say AntsCanada to 5M.
Keep it up man....all these comments at this point show why we keep watching...I also love the back story you gave that released some never before seen convention photos...Thanks so much for the commitment and education 👏
I feel there was a missed chance for a good pun... When you showed us the finished wood cylinder you said, "Let's start with the entrance..." should have been "Let's start with the ANTstrence"!
Whoever cried like a literal baby and went complete rage mode when AntsCanada actually made the ants go to war... They are just ANTS. They go to war all of the time, they die all of the time, and sure, I love ants and I would kinda hate to see them die. But there is no need to make literal movements just because of a few ants.
2 things. 1. I love this video. As always a true treat to watch and super informative and amazing video editing. A true artist at work. 2. I saw you havent posted for last weekend, 11/20/2022, and I wanted to reach out through the loving comments and say I hope you're doing well physically and mentally! Oh do I love the wooden nest, it looks so beautiful with the ants inside. Congratulations on your success and hard work so far mikey, and also thank you for teaching me so much about ants, you are amazing! Ant love forever!
I thought you reflecting on where you started and just how far you have come sharing your passion with people, stole the video. It is always nice to reflect and look back on your journey and just how far you have really come.
Thank you AntCanada! You made me see our world so different... Sometimes when I see an ant walking around I start to follow her and see what she is doing sometimes I do that until I lose the track of time.... :3
Rafiki in Lion King said it best, "The past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it." You've come a long way since 2009, and have learned a lot since then. Habitat after habitat, you hit it out of the park, and it's nice to see you going back to your roots as the solution to help out the carpenters The ants in Colony 7 aren’t from that genus, you could say that would make them...CampoNOTus 😂
Such a perfect timing!! I'm mostly new in your channel, and I just got one of these queens in my room. I kept her in a jar because I've never had ants as pets... Of course, YT had the perfect suggestion bringing this video to me. I don't have anything to grow an ant farm but I truly want to watch my queen expand her colony ♡ Wish me luck, and thanks for your videos! 🐜💕
Genius mode activate! What if you got a thick piece of lumber and let termites carve it out. Tell the termites they're too late on their rent and sink the lumber in water for a day or two. Plane the face off the termite lumber to expose the chambers and mount a plastic sheet over it all. When I was an exterminator I had to deal with a lot of ant colonies that had moved into old termite hives.
it was really cool to learn about the ants that use their heads to block the entrance to their lair i hope to see more from this colony and would love to see how he is gonna be expanding it with wood
I couldn't wait to see those ants dealing with the wood piece, just awesome. I'm new in the AC family, Hello from France =P I discovered the channel a bit randomly. but since i can't stop watching all the videos you are a great narrator and you make videos and ants very passionate to watch , i'm very into it! your pet ants are fascinating to follow, and it is very awesome to see them so closely. my favorite parts are the starting colonies in their test tube, watching Queens rising their Nanitics and then growing from here. Now i really have the desire to start my own colony, and i hope to be able to do it one day, it is just not the right moment for now (about to move soon) I think i will peek a eye at the antscanada shop when the time will come ^^ Anyway, thanks to you and keep going! i can't wait to get news from your Ants in the next video!
@@moonmapping3963 Ah ah, i don't think you should think too much about it guys. some french words are not that hard to know actually. for exemple, in some videos, he already used "Voilà!", which is a french word. Plus, close to Canada, there is Quebec where it is common to speak french along english ( i heard french people are living in Canada too!), so maybe it is also learned in Canada schools, not sure about that but who knows? ^^
Oh man!! Thanks Mikey!! Awsome video! I loved it and so happy the carpenter ants moved in to that incredible insert you made, I can see that becoming a future item in the A.C. Catalog. It’s a really great idea! And wow mind blowing to hear that Kim Jun Un follows and is a AC member , just incredible! I somehow can’t think maybe someday this world and the people who inhabit it, may someday work together. One can only hope. Mabuhay ka Ant-Man! This is a very educational show. I used to have tarantulas and scorpionss. But I would loved to have any ant colony someday probably.
So worth the wait, Mikey! I know I keep saying it but this series is just miraculous, emotional, and stunningly beautiful! And I love them! They have a piece of my heart and ants forever will! Thank you for changing the world! Because you truly have! #antloveforever
I’ve been a huge fan of the Ebony Army ever since they were the most adventurous colony in the Camponoseum! Their pioneering spirit is admirable, and their queen is so brave! I like the name Sacagawea after the Shoshone guide and interpreter who guided the Lewis and Clark expedition.
This video was recommended to me by TH-cam … and I’m SUPER glad it was!! 🤩 This was so amazing watching these creatures interact and live in a man made structure/home. I’m definitely gonna start binge watching the rest of your videos … Freakin sick dude 😎👍✨

I don't kill the carpenter ants that wonder into my house anymore I just guide them back outside .. I look forward to your videos every week (yes I missed you last week) .. I still am not a ant lover nor am I a hater but I do love to watch your videos about them..thank you and keep up the great work.. ANT RESPECT FOREVER!..
Growing up I still have d eep love for ants, but my family hates them, so I hate to wait at least ten more years or more until I can get then, that’s why I love wat Hong your vids to get as much info as I can
Apparently I watch this video every 4 months. Wish I lived somewhere that ants didn't go into Diapose. My carpenter queen is still alive with only 5 workers. But that will hopefully change thus summer and I'm so dang excited.
Nice a new video! Your videos got me to start my own colony and I wanted to let you know that my Lasius eggs finally hatched! Managed to get some footage of a worker!
You may want to collect the sawdust from the wood when you make your tunnels and add it back to the tower so they have more material to manipulate and make it more natural for the ants.
Another awesome video I just joined the channel around the time of the nuptial flight and boy am I happy I did thanks for all the amazing work and keep it up

OG! Thank you! Ant love forever!
Ive been watching this chanel for around 7 years. #Antloveforever
I prefer the redwood warriors flag more but the flags do bring back memories of the fire nation
These names for the colonies are both great and clever, good job.
I think adding some soil in the middle then adding springtails will be beneficial. Wood molds when wet for prolonged periods of time. Something controlling it would be a good idea
19:50 to be honest i tought ant where a pest and needed te get rid of a couple years ago then i stumbled upon ur channel and actualy kida nerded out
Now when i look back at it i realize how much u changed my mind about ants and how amazing they are
Wanne say thank u for that
AntsCanada has reached a whole new level with Kim Jong-un commenting
😂🤣
Because I have exquisite taste in TH-camrs
Kim Jong-un has now replied to me. I have ascended

"Nostalgic, emo and grateful" really sums up my life
What a great video! This was so worth the wait
Honestly it’s not even the ants it’s the wholesome love for life on earth that keeps bringing me to your videos man it’s so heart warming to see these things
AntCanada is such a good channel that even NK leader is watching these video
As much as I love seeing these two colonies grow, i would really enjoy a quick Update on all the other antcolonies.
Get this man to 5M he deserves it‚ all the stuff he's done to show how ants really are and to show entertainment for all of us and I will say he is a pro at ant keeping so get this man or should I say AntsCanada to 5M.
Keep it up man....all these comments at this point show why we keep watching...I also love the back story you gave that released some never before seen convention photos...Thanks so much for the commitment and education 👏
keep that test tube and everything as a souvenir
I feel there was a missed chance for a good pun... When you showed us the finished wood cylinder you said, "Let's start with the entrance..." should have been "Let's start with the ANTstrence"!
I hate how every time he says "You won't believe what happens next," a TH-cam ad pops up for me. I'm like "This has to be planned, it's too perfect"
Haha for real! Or they pop out when he goes “behold!”
It's like a abondend ant base of carpenters and someone of the other colony found a place of home.
2 things. 1. I love this video. As always a true treat to watch and super informative and amazing video editing. A true artist at work. 2. I saw you havent posted for last weekend, 11/20/2022, and I wanted to reach out through the loving comments and say I hope you're doing well physically and mentally! We all love you and are proud to be a part of the ac family ^_^ stay awesome mikey
Colony 7 just built different.
Like, literally.
Just so you know it isn’t “e-bony” is pronounced “eh-bony”. No hate just want to clarify
Its derived from Egyptian HeBoNi.
@Alex Blair
Exactly! Just like the classic song by Stevie Wonder & Paul McCartney.
@@kenlieberman4215 it actually comes from Ebon or Ebonos, which is greek?
Edit: i stand corrected, i skipped a history lesson.
@@TheDavebala I have no idea why but that correction made me laugh. Thank you for starting my day positively.

I genuinely enjoy and look forward to these videos. I was actually really missing the ants last week! Ant Love Forever!
Gravity: I fear no man, but that thing...

IT SCARES ME
Lol
Don’t think it’s the real Kim jong-uh
@@qiufengxiaoxia it is trust me bro
It’s not him I don’t think
@@qiufengxiaoxia do you really think that's him? LOL
Rafiki in Lion King said it best, "The past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it."
You've come a long way since 2009, and have learned a lot since then. Habitat after habitat, you hit it out of the park, and it's nice to see you going back to your roots as the solution to help out the carpenters
The ants in Colony 7 aren’t from that genus, you could say that would make them...CampoNOTus 😂
Ahhh 🤣🤣
Such a perfect timing!! I'm mostly new in your channel, and I just got one of these queens in my room.
I kept her in a jar because I've never had ants as pets... Of course, YT had the perfect suggestion bringing this video to me.
I don't have anything to grow an ant farm but I truly want to watch my queen expand her colony ♡
Wish me luck, and thanks for your videos!
I'm new in the AC family, Hello from France =P
I discovered the channel a bit randomly. but since i can't stop watching all the videos
you are a great narrator and you make videos and ants very passionate to watch , i'm very into it!
your pet ants are fascinating to follow, and it is very awesome to see them so closely. my favorite parts are the starting colonies in their test tube, watching Queens rising their Nanitics and then growing from here.
Now i really have the desire to start my own colony, and i hope to be able to do it one day, it is just not the right moment for now (about to move soon)
I think i will peek a eye at the antscanada shop when the time will come ^^
Anyway, thanks to you and keep going! i can't wait to get news from your Ants in the next video!
Merci beaucoup! Ant love forever!
Wow he really does know French!
Or he translated it 🤔
I think he translated it
@@moonmapping3963 Ah ah, i don't think you should think too much about it guys. some french words are not that hard to know actually.
for exemple, in some videos, he already used "Voilà!", which is a french word.
Plus, close to Canada, there is Quebec where it is common to speak french along english ( i heard french people are living in Canada too!), so maybe it is also learned in Canada schools, not sure about that but who knows? ^^
Same!
Incredible video this weekend, honestly gave me chills and goosebumps, really well done!! Thanks again Mikey And the A.C. Family. Take care, stay safe and healthy!
AntsCanada: Here, let me give you the best custom made home for carpenters ever!
Ants: Home is where the brood is, it smells a bit weird
AntsCanada: You ungrateful peasants! Don't you know how hard I worked on this? *Casts Blinding Light*
Ants: We have angered the God! His wrath is upon us! We must accept the generous gift bestowed on us or we'll all go blind! Repent! Repent!

I wasn’t as much of a fan of the Redwood Warriors as the Ebony Army at first, but now I’m all in on the new species!
Yess! So glad to see a new upload! 🥳🥳
“I thought to myself, duh, this is the great leader giving me advice.”
spectacular! the wooden cylinder looks amazing
Mabuhay ka Ant-Man! This is a very educational show. I used to have tarantulas and scorpionss. But I would loved to have any ant colony someday probably.
4:19 that made me smile
So worth the wait, Mikey! I know I keep saying it but this series is just miraculous, emotional, and stunningly beautiful! I could have never imagined a year ago when I found your channel that I would fall in love with ants! I write this as I am watching my thee Tetramorium colonies peacefully go about there day. And I love them! They have a piece of my heart and ants forever will! Thank you for changing the world! Because you truly have! #antloveforever
❤ Love it. Thank you for watching. Ant love forever!
Aaaaaaà I'm gay
you gay
Thank you Ants Canada you are the reason I love Ant's now #ant, love, forever
Same
I can’t wait to see them bring food and distribute it inside of the wood 🪵
I’ve been a huge fan of the Ebony Army ever since they were the most adventurous colony in the Camponoseum! Their pioneering spirit is admirable, and their queen is so brave! I like the name Sacagawea after the Shoshone guide and interpreter who guided the Lewis and Clark expedition.
Uhm is it just me or this guys voice is so smooth and the explaining is so understanding
This video was recommended to me by TH-cam … and I’m SUPER glad it was!! 🤩 This was so amazing watching these creatures interact and live in a man made structure/home. I’m definitely gonna start binge watching the rest of your videos … Freakin sick dude 😎👍✨
Welcome to the channel! Ant love forever!
OMG! you have done a wonderful job!.. I don't even like ants.. with that said ...the first time I watched your video I became a subscriber and hit the bell..lol.. because you made the ants world look so amazing.. the way you tell their story, the homes you make for them just draws you in and gives you respect for ants you never had before.. :D..
Thank you for giving the ants a chance! Ant love forever!
missed you homie, remember to take time for yourself
Growing up I still have d eep love for ants, but my family hates them, so I hate to wait at least ten more years or more until I can get then, that’s why I love wat Hong your vids to get as much info as I can
Apparently I watch this video every 4 months. Wish I lived somewhere that ants didn't go into Diapose. My carpenter queen is still alive with only 5 workers. But that will hopefully change thus summer and I'm so dang excited.
Can’t wait to see how the nest is expanded
I would put fire ants in it but the nest is made of wood. LOL.
Ive had the worst week seeing your vid really help
Am I the only one who hears a lot of ant puns in every video like “watch to the end(ant)”?😅😂
Or like: "something and (ant)something else"
This is so interesting I love how these ants live, it’s so cool.
Hands down the ccoolestt ant colony you ever have
I never miss a video beacuse ITS SUPER COOL
Nice a new video! Your videos got me to start my own colony and I wanted to let you know that my Lasius eggs finally hatched! Managed to get some footage of a worker!
Gravity has no hold over the queen
dude, synchronicity moment with your vision of starting small with passion, i've been reviving old dreams today.
You may want to collect the sawdust from the wood when you make your tunnels and add it back to the tower so they have more material to manipulate and make it more natural for the ants.
Another awesome video
I just joined the channel around the time of the nuptial flight and boy am I happy I did thanks for all the amazing work and keep it up
I thank you AC for naming the Colony #7 Redwood Warriors that I suggested for you.
@saiko mori I suggested that name from the last video.
awesome name!!

At first I thought all ants make there nests in soil or dirt but now I know some species of ants live in different places.......looks like I've learned something new :)
I've been watching your vids for a few years now, I'm grateful to learn about ants every time you upload a video
Respect man you have made me view ants in a different way
