Greetings Ant Lovers/AC Family, this was such an eye-opening event in the lives of these ants! After watching the video, please HELP ME OUT by hitting 'LIKE' on this video, and hit 'SUBSCRIBE' to be part of this ant journey with us! Thank you so much for watching, guys! It means a lot to me! Ant love forever!
the house was nearing done in his last update on the building, and that was 4 months ago... but also construction times are kinda a nightmare in a non-pandemic year so it might still not be livable yet
Its funny im not really into ants but randomly a fee years ago this channel hit my recommended list. Here i am still watching and enjoying a subject i didnt think would be peak my interests
That's the best way to discover new interests! Through someone so genuinely enthusiastic, and so good at presenting the information in an entertaining way, that you want to learn more.
I enjoying the video too, but I somehow was more interested how I would be able to capture and eat ants from the neighbourhood so I probably don’t need to buy meat.
Honestly can't wait for Ebony's outworld adventure too. It's fun to see them both grow side by side. Basically 2 species going on the same journey and see what they do differently! Honestly the real problem is how they handle battle tactics when the time comes, as we remember the Ebony have miniscule fighting experience in the arena, while the Red wood never had a fight at all. Wonder how they adapt
4:37 Anyone else see the nematode in the moss? Thanks for the video! edit: The little black bumps on the nesting wood are some type of melanic fungi. These are the fungi that disturb me the most as the melanin they synthesize helps them avoid destruction if they start to grow on/into an animal (like an ant or a person). Most aren't obligate parasites of animals, but they're opportunists and can grow in your body. Melanin in fungi is considered a virulence factor. I'd recommend getting rid of the nesting wood.
have you considered raising springtails to dump into new colony homes? Could prevent the mold from even starting! could also help give a boost to colonies that need it
If I remember correctly, he does raise springtails but maybe they're in his other house where all the other ant farms & animals are located, I could be wrong though. Haven't seen his other house in a while or even check his old videos & vlog channel. Currently he lives in a temporary house until the new house is ready for him to move in, so he is lacking a lot of his usual tools etc
I was thinking that it was surprising you didn't add a tiny bit of dirt in the wood so they have at least a starter group of springtails to keep things clean. Hopefully that mold doesn't spread too far before the springtails reach it.
OMG ANTS CANADA! MY FIRST ANTS HAS FINALLY HATCHED YESTERDAY! I WAITED FOR 3 MONTHS AND NOW FINALLY, THE FIRST WORKERS, THE NANITICS HAVE HATCHED! I bought your ant keeping e book, and I can’t wait to get a great colony of ants. Worker ant size: 2mm
Now rise a new empire… but anyways, I have loved how we can all see these ant journey slowly onto become a thriving empire, seeing sorrows and feeling joys, I can’t wait for their big formicariums!

have you ever thought about feeding them a crab leg? im sure that would be very interesting to watch one or more of the colonys enjoy. im sure they would all take unique approaches to how they consume it and break it down. might be interesting once everyone is reunited at the ant house
Absolutely love the outworld you've built for the Redwood Worries! You've inspired me to get one for my Tetramorium colony to build a biodiverse habitat for them! I've been going with fake plants and rocks but this looks so beautiful and important for the ants health! Still absolutely loving this series! #antloveforever ❤
Hey there AC, love the vids! Juuust wondering though, what kind of jelly do you use for ants? Trying to find a solid brand to go for as there's a lot of discussion in the ac forums about jellies for other insects being used for ants so was curious what you were using.
We love you ants Canada but I want to tell you something you and a couple other TH-camrs inspired me to become a TH-camr so I just want to say thank you
Thank you so much AntsCanada for making these amazing ant videos! I am new to this channel and to ants, and you have inspired me to start keeping them. You are awesome
I love the two ants seemingly braving the new territory but then one of them seems to be like "abort mission" and both go running back home 😂 so much entertainment! I don't know how you'd get anything done owning ant farms.
Take a lot of out worlds, stack them together, make a giant habitat for carpenter ants like a log, then drill into it and make a giant chamber in the center. Then put lots and lots of polygenus carpenter ant test tubes. Then giant carpenter ant colony.
Yes, super sorry! This has been a crazy month and I've been really focusing lately on delivering greater quality in every video. Thank you for being so patient! Ant love forever! ❤🐜
Can I suggest you make a single unit piece of hardware with the nest and outer-world as two zones. The nest is below the outer-world and there are tubes connecting the two zones. I think this would make a great piece of hardware you could setup inside your home. Or, perhaps the nest zone clips together with the outer-world zone (same base size) and the nests and outer-world are modular so you can add multiple layers. If you had a large colony, you could have multiple layers of nest modules, with multiple layers out the outer-world on top. All would have external connectors and only linked by tubes.
I don't even know how i stumbled across this channel but i have spent the last several days fixated on your videos, I never knew so much about ants and now I'm endeared by them and want to start a colony of my own
Its great to see these beauties growing so nicely. My big babies, shiny black carpenter ants, are in hibernation right now here in southern ontario so am not really getting to enjoy any growth right now from them, but they are doing good, just checked on them yesturday. Im really enjoying this latest ant epic of the redwood warriors and im so so so looking forward to what sort of amazing world you create for them in the new ant palace... cause calling it a house doesnt do it justice lol
If you’re having trouble getting the ants to move colonies grab a turkey baster and pump the dead cricket pheromones into the ant colony. Usually speeds the process up for me
@AntsCanada I was thinking, you simulate an ant raid on another nest by using an empty AC Nest and fill it with rice grains and connect it to a colony!
I love ants your videos are amazing I'm working on my ant farm ants are my life you did such a good job I look at your site all the time I only take care of carpenter ants because I live in alaska
So outta curiosity, have either of the colonies tried adding to or altering the wooden chunks you gave them for homes? Or are they just fine with what you already carved out?
I'm not surprised they were being so shy about entering the outworld or whatever it was called. Last time you connected them to a larger chamber you unwittingly pitted them into an arena against other fledging ant colonies like gladiators!
Hey mikey, can you make a tutorial on your cricket feeders? You havent done one of those yet and i would love to see how you take care of your crickets
So the Redwood warriors have a an outworld now, talk about awsome 😀 . It looks like their really enjoying it. I hope the best for them in the future and great video as always.
I love ant videos and bugs so I watch you're videos that are awsome and I did like you're video I like you're series of ant videos and the bugs you use in you're videos .
Ants Canada always gives the ants that are discovering something completely new, the thoughts of a naive dumb blonde haha "That's funny, this wasn't here before, oh well la-di-da" 😂 but I imagine it to be more like "I srsly must be tripping balls right now, I swear this wasn't here a second ago" 😅
The music is so bombastic & over the top at the beginning, you can't help but be as excited as AC. @AntsCanada I'm curious, what is the visual capability of these ants? When they entered the new environment, were they able to perceive the full dimensions of the terraria in relation to themselves, or can they barely sense the immediate space/objects around them? This would make for a fascinating simulation, or even better a V/R. An Ant exploring it's environment primarily by touch & scent (simulated by visual cues for us primates 😉), with limited vision. Working & interacting with other ants around the colony, exploring outer space, while avoiding predators & other colonies. 🐜
Nerves run on a small electric current and if the current is triggered then the limbs will move . Insects and humans have a similar nervous system ( down to the genetic level) so that will work with recently dead people too
Man, AntsCanada I just wanted to say, your channel is absolutely amazing. Following this channel has made me much more curious about anta. For instanace, can they see? Can they hear? If you're wondering no they can't hear. But they can see.
Between the hesitant entrance, the ant that got horribly lost (LOL!), and their trouble finding the cricket, I'm kind of thinking this is Colony Derp, ahahaha! I'm rooting for them, they're just a lil shy
Perhaps the ants hesitated because they where worried of what kind of predator lived in such a huge living space, and killed something that much bigger than them.

Maybe the ants didn't notice the cricket because there were so many other new smells. Moss, dirt, plants, even the new plastic of the outworld.

They have featured one of his videos before.
I hope the springtails and things can get to that mould before it gets out of hand, it’s quite close to the colonies main chamber.
Very cool habitat my friend! It’s pretty neat to see how the ants behave in the out world when foraging for the cricket! 🦗🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜

The fact that these ants are able to communicate and understand each other is amazingl! Even when they told each other about the new lands.

Love watching ants when they just get a best expansion

I wouldnt be surprised if they were traumatized by the experiment with the other colonies. Maybe thats why they were so cautious.
Have you considered using a security camera system? something that logs the last 24 hours on a ssd so you can back track footage in key spots?
I imagine that the tube is like a portal to the ants who were first confined to their home world.
