    I agree that Komova threw it away. No gymnast deserves to win...they earn their win. Komova didn't earn it. Yes, she's a beautiful gymnast to watch. With that said, a gymnast should get the respect if they fight for their title.

    Well actually the commentators didn't really know, and it was hard to see (if I'm remembering correctly), but Viktoria Komova fell put of that last spin way to soon and caused a very significant deduction (and lowered her difficulty score i think b/c she didn't finish it) There was also about a full point of deductions from the tumbling skills and landings. So the judging was fair i say. The score Viktoria needed was something she hadn't been able to get to in awhile also

      Well, Jordyn would've won by an even larger margin had she not had her mistake on the bars. And Vika would've won had she not gotten so sloppy on floor. That's kind of the nature of these championships--at the very top, don't fall off or you won't win.

    I would've preferred Komova to win, but she didn't exactly put on a winning performance, either. She hit her feet on the high bar in her bar routine, she wobbled through the last 4/5 of her beam routine, and she fell out of turns, jumped out of landings, and landed her last pass really short and didn't even try to fight for it. All of that is just as bad as 1 major break for Wieber on bars.

    • @saragrant9749

      That is very true. She admitted at her retirement speech that this was exactly the case. She still got two world titles on bars, two AA silvers between worlds and the Olympics, and a team Olympic silver. That’s very impressive stuff and something she can be very proud of. Now she’s married- maybe she’ll have a daughter who can follow her footsteps!

    If they want a chance at getting their gymnasts into All-Around podium spots (gold, silver, bronze) The Romanians need to start training bars, If they spend as much time training bars as they do beam, Romania's gymnasts can place in the all-around, but we are just not seeing those bars!

    • @JoeyLavarias
      @JoeyLavarias 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well there is some hope in Larisa Iordache, her bar set is the most difficult and in my opinion, the best executed, Romanian bar routine.

    • @kaylajones4356
      @kaylajones4356 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Joey Lavarias Well, there is no denying that, but that is only of the Romanians, because they are prestigious on beam, It is true that Iordache has some potential on bars, but if you compare her against the Russians (Aliya Mustafina, Viktoria Komova) Or Even the Chinese (Yao Jinnan, who just got a Mo on bars) Ioradache is kinda behind. I love her as a gymnast, but her bars aren't the most difficult

    • @JoeyLavarias
      @JoeyLavarias 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @kaylajones4356
      @kaylajones4356 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Joey Lavarias Well I have been watching Ioradache's progress, her beam getting stronger, bars staying the same, if not getting more weaker. The Romanians need to focus on beam, or else they wont contend for medals in all around.

    • @melissaknapp2098
      @melissaknapp2098 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Kae Kae Jones Unfortunately, bars break fairly easily (unlike floor and vault), are expensive, and there's really no easy way to create a facsimile for them (unlike beam and floor). When the bars break, the smaller Romanian gyms-- where young gymnasts learn the basics-- can't afford to replace them. So a lot of Romanian gymnasts don't get to do bars at all until they get good enough on other events to go train in Deva. No matter how hard you train when you're older, it just never becomes automatic second-nature the way it does when you train from a younger age. So the question for Romania really becomes, how can they afford to supply the smaller regional gyms with uneven bars when they break? So far they haven't been able to come up with a solution, and their bars situation is unlikely to get much better until they do.

    Wow. I just thought of something. In the pre-release version of the 2013-2016 Code of points, a 1.5 twist + Double arabian has a connection bonus of 0.3. Which means that Viktoria would have gained an extra tenth if they used the CoP. Viktoria would have won?!?!

    • @sambutterfield8960
      @sambutterfield8960 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      she could have won regardless. and we don’t really know what would have happened because they both could also have had different skills in the 13-16 code

  • @callmeShmingle
    @callmeShmingle 11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    they finalized the cop and decided to just stick with the .2 connection bonus like before...

    Yeah, that's what its about. She's got a lot of desire in that tiny body of hers and she's got to use every inch of it. Hope she comes back as a more mature 20 year old. But its hard to see that happening in this day and age. Some gymnasts do return for multi Olympics and championships.

    Why is it sometimes ‘wider than their shoulders’ , and sometimes ‘more than a meter’ on the steps on dismount on vault? Tim says one or the other, I’m confused.

      The guidelines change from quad to quad. If Tim said both in the same video, it is probably because he is a Silly Goose.

    As much as I love Jordyn. Victoria should have won! Same in 2012.

    • @saragrant9749
      @saragrant9749 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Fewer errors on her part and she would have. In 2011 beam and floor were very error filled, costing just enough. In 2012 vault was her trump card… and it didn’t go well. You cannot give those tenths to your competitors in the world or Olympic competitions.

    Chinese girls are always challenging but they always fail to mention! Yao fall on her balance beam otherwise she would have won. Its' so weird that they always failed to see the brilliance of Chinese athletes!

    At least they didn't bash her like they did to other gymnasts. Trust me, when they start speaking in non-USA gymnasts' routines, there's ought to be something bad going on.

  • @salmabenmoussa9417
    @salmabenmoussa9417 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Honestly, I think Vika deserved the gold. I mean, she was strong on all events, whereas Jordan almost fell on bars and stepped out of bounds on floor. Also, Huang did wwwwaaaaay better then Aly

      but on beam komova checked sooo many times and wieber was basically rock solid throughout

    • @murasakino101
      @murasakino101 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Did you not see komova on floor though? The commentators even went through to show where the judges most likely took points off. She also had a wobble our two on beam. I feel bad for her too but Jordan won for and square. She only had one major mistake on bars which was deducted and she had one step out of bounds and a tiny slide or two. She was pretty much solid on everything else and her and komova were VERY close in scoring

    • @esw714
      @esw714 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wieber's start values were higher, so she could make more mistakes than Komova and still remain ahead.
