When then 2020 Olympics gymnastics is still months away and I cannot get enough gymnastics content... I’m watching this in Mar. 2020 & loving it. ⚡️🤸♀️⚡️.
Well actually the commentators didn't really know, and it was hard to see (if I'm remembering correctly), but Viktoria Komova fell put of that last spin way to soon and caused a very significant deduction (and lowered her difficulty score i think b/c she didn't finish it) There was also about a full point of deductions from the tumbling skills and landings. So the judging was fair i say. The score Viktoria needed was something she hadn't been able to get to in awhile also
I agree that Komova threw it away. No gymnast deserves to win...they earn their win. Komova didn't earn it. Yes, she's a beautiful gymnast to watch. With that said, a gymnast should get the respect if they fight for their title.
Me either, the fact that she cry’s all the time and doesn’t seen thankful or a tad grateful unless she gets first place is mind boggling. Like you’re not that great, so she should be pleased
The reason I watched this was because I'm a fan of USA's gymnasts, Jordyn And Aly (Alexandra), that are competing in it. It's good to see that Jordyn Wieber won medal and that it was gold she won. But I wish that Aly (Alexandra) Raisman won silver or bronze.
Does anyone else realize Yao Jinnan would have won if she didn't fall off the beam. She was in 3rd behind Wieber by .7 a fall is 1 whole point plus devalue of that skilled preformed!!
Well, Jordyn would've won by an even larger margin had she not had her mistake on the bars. And Vika would've won had she not gotten so sloppy on floor. That's kind of the nature of these championships--at the very top, don't fall off or you won't win.
I would've preferred Komova to win, but she didn't exactly put on a winning performance, either. She hit her feet on the high bar in her bar routine, she wobbled through the last 4/5 of her beam routine, and she fell out of turns, jumped out of landings, and landed her last pass really short and didn't even try to fight for it. All of that is just as bad as 1 major break for Wieber on bars.
That is very true. She admitted at her retirement speech that this was exactly the case. She still got two world titles on bars, two AA silvers between worlds and the Olympics, and a team Olympic silver. That’s very impressive stuff and something she can be very proud of. Now she’s married- maybe she’ll have a daughter who can follow her footsteps!

Just watched this whole program again and it was great competition and drama. Gymnastics is great drama for sure. Just like the great American movies where the hero is down and behind but comes back to win. Hate the commentators all you want but they called everything right even before the scores come out.
Up until the fall she was saying what a beautiful routine it was, so was Tim. Then she fell. So are they just supposed to ignore that and pretend it didn't happen?
If they want a chance at getting their gymnasts into All-Around podium spots (gold, silver, bronze) The Romanians need to start training bars, If they spend as much time training bars as they do beam, Romania's gymnasts can place in the all-around, but we are just not seeing those bars!
Joey Lavarias Well, there is no denying that, but that is only of the Romanians, because they are prestigious on beam, It is true that Iordache has some potential on bars, but if you compare her against the Russians (Aliya Mustafina, Viktoria Komova) Or Even the Chinese (Yao Jinnan, who just got a Mo on bars) Ioradache is kinda behind. I love her as a gymnast, but her bars aren't the most difficult
Joey Lavarias Well I have been watching Ioradache's progress, her beam getting stronger, bars staying the same, if not getting more weaker. The Romanians need to focus on beam, or else they wont contend for medals in all around.
+Kae Kae Jones Unfortunately, bars break fairly easily (unlike floor and vault), are expensive, and there's really no easy way to create a facsimile for them (unlike beam and floor). When the bars break, the smaller Romanian gyms-- where young gymnasts learn the basics-- can't afford to replace them. So a lot of Romanian gymnasts don't get to do bars at all until they get good enough on other events to go train in Deva. No matter how hard you train when you're older, it just never becomes automatic second-nature the way it does when you train from a younger age. So the question for Romania really becomes, how can they afford to supply the smaller regional gyms with uneven bars when they break? So far they haven't been able to come up with a solution, and their bars situation is unlikely to get much better until they do.
Why do some teams just not use grips on uneven bars because that's another reason why they're not doing good I don't think bare hands on uneven bars feels nice
It always amazes me that year after year the women have a great team and the men don't. The women are always battling for the gold medal and the men are just trying to stay in the top ten. Are they not following the same training schedules? I am ready to see a men's team fighting for the gold.
