I'm a tech at a club car dealership. we also carry Icon, Taylor-dunn and a couple others. We do a TON of Eco battery swaps, mostly the 105Ah. sometimes, for carryalls and utility stuff we'll drop in two 72Ah Eco batts. very popular choice !
My cart, with lead acid batteries, wouldn't even make it up the ramps into my truck without a running start and it was scary. I converted to lithium and, from a dead stop, I was able to creep, as slow as I wanted, up the ramps. Just the torque, alone, was awesome. I'll never use lead acid again. Such a world of difference
If you cut the plug with the brown and red wire and loop them togethor you can remove the icon charger, its just a charger interlock safety feature iv done it dozens of times
7:20 looks like Ocean Lakes just got back from there yesterday & rocking a Maple motors shirt I've known Nick and his family for 20+ years great folks and awsome cars
I love how you're still able to find time for some fun projects! Then there's Laura just rocking mom life making it look easy, one video after another.
I just swapped to lithium on my club car 6 seater. Huge difference just like you mentioned. Full power all the time. The lead acids didn’t work great with 6 people on my cart. Lol
Upgraded my Club Car a couple yrs ago with Big Battery LiPo's. Be careful to keep the charge up because when it's dead.... it's DEAD! The BMS will shut down to protect circuts and it must be plugged in to reset. I keep a drop cord in the spare space just in case. When that happens even 20-30 mins on a charge will give you enough to get home. For fun, check out Plum Quick Motors, I had them rebuild my stock motor and take off the regen/governor.... downhill is WAY faster. Mine went from 19 mph stock to 31 mph now.
The Icons are not very consistent with their governors. I have a burgundy one just like this one that would break 30 mph when it was new. My buddy had a 2-seater that would make 25. I'm anxious to see what happens with 300 pounds less.
Hey the small plug with the 2 wires is a neutral safety. Yes it’s Icon only just take the small plug 2 wire and jump the circuit and then toss out that useless old charger. My wires where brown and green I had seen other colors such as blue and black or red and green black and brown or blue and brown all the same
How much money did you spend on this whole lithium battery conversion? Just curious because I picked up a old club car golf cart that needs new batteries.
I bought a used 2010 Club Car DS recently and just got it back home from being completely improved. Full Navitas kit DC to AC Conversion and Navitas 660. It wasn’t cheap.
@@chrisginoc I’ll do an AC conversion once my battery is dead. It’ll probably be 15 years before that happens considering it’s a brand new Epoch 48v 100AH battery. It only gets charged maybe 4 times a month so it has a long ass life ahead of it. 😅
JD, Have you seen Cleetus's drive this Utility SxS With an 800hp Supercharged Hellcat Engine its insane. Laura just got done canning 19 jars of Chili Sauce. My tomatoes plants are loaded with green tomatoes going to be a lot of canning still to come. #burnoutbex #horticculturistlaura #teamlaura
I saw the video but haven’t watched it yet but I’m sure that thing is insane and on another level, meanwhile I’m just here doing regular people stuff. 😂😂
swapped my batteries to lithium ,cart has great power but whenever I take my foot off of the accelerator pedal I have to turn the key off then back on .Any idea what may be causing this issue?
I see about $2800 reasons, that’s usually the only kind of reason people need. If you were replacing worn out SLA then it might be worth the investment but there’s no name brands for half the cost online. If it’s got a 5 yr warranty who cares about reputations. Happy Easter thanks for the review.
I just did the same conversion on my i40... Love the ROy Pow - Thanks. Have you experienced any issues? My cart LOCKED up while wife and Niece were cruising our neighborhood. Lithium battery shut down - causing Electro Magnetic brake to sieze... No Fun. I'm curious about exactly what remains connected on the Icon on board charger. I did not connect the red an black leads to Lithium Battery - I left everything else hooked up? is that what you did? Appreciate any input you may have.
I am not an expert I have been building the batteries and You should always fully Top-charge the battery it does affect the battery, so you should maybe let it top out on charge to be safe. Great Video Thanks.
Any updates with the battery? Like charging or any issues? So, keep the original iCon charger but it doesn't need to be hooked up to the battery. Thanks in advance.
Increase the distance and speed with less charge 4,000 times. Not a bad investment. No lead acid stench of gasoline no more carburetor acceleration problems or fouling plugs or gummy bears in the fuel line. 65 miles per charge or better
I have the same cart with the same motor I just threw the tech at the icon dealer near a few bucks and he hooked up a computer and programed my cart to tops out at 30 mph
High quality videos with a "typical consumer" unaware of the crap cart he bought and the even more crap battery he's adding to it. Rowpow is literally the dollar menu of Lithiums. Watch out for that motor brake. Make sure your family is wearing seatbelts. You're going to thank me.

Dude, LOVE THAT CAMARO!
I see stuff in videos all the time and try to keep from commenting, but sometimes you just gotta say, Nice Ride!

Joyride family vlogs are the best way to end my day 🙏
Glad you like them! We got a hand full of fun videos filmed waiting to be edited. Some good stuff coming!
cool. The new ones come with lithium now. not all but you can select the lithium battery. Im getting one of these this weekend. The ICON i40L

So much gooder 😊
How much are Lithium batteries cost too

@billelder9482 which club car do you have and which motor did you upgrade to ? I have a 2010 precedent with a vatrer lithium pack

Between 2500 to 3500 dollars depending on the options.

@@The_pipeliner Bingo. I’m not going to lie though. It is such a joy to drive. We look for any excuse to take it out of the garage.

Do you have an update as to how far you can go on one charge and how tge battery is holding up?

It is crazy the cart storage became empty when you change the battery, I will try that. It is a good guidance
16:54 she was shocked😅

Pop plastic cover where speedometer is located and key …pull wire and no back up sound. We have same cart.
I just found the horn and there is a harness connection I disconnected also
Icons have the most obnoxious backup sound in the world. I took about 2 days before I disconnected mine.
I am not an expert I have been building the batteries and You should always fully Top-charge the battery it does affect the battery, so you should maybe let it top out on charge to be safe. Great Video Thanks.
JD, can the i40 cart be lifted? the dealership told me its impossible?
Nice upgrade JD. should be well worth it.
So far worth it.
What is the motor capacity of the kart?
I would've definitely centered the battery for balanced weight distribution
I'm thinking that since I'm usually by myself that I'll shift it toward the passenger side. Does that sound like a good idea?
Yeah I think that's a good idea👍
Any updates with the battery? Like charging or any issues? So, keep the original iCon charger but it doesn't need to be hooked up to the battery. Thanks in advance.
This is why I prefer a gas cart over a battery cart. Cool upgrade though!!
Most campgrounds don't allow gas carts anymore
@muddychevy8807 Im one of the few that actually use mine for golf, too, and the golf courses don't allow gas either
Yeah but he never has to buy gas either
Gas carts are loud.

I use Lithium packs on my R/C cars. Big difference in acceleration. Way more punch, compared to the Nickel batteries.
Exactly, crazy the difference going to lithium.
I thought the factory dash would stop working?
Ocean lakes Myrtle beach?
Great video. Thanks
No more Shelby? 🤨
It’s currently getting wrapped!
Unplug the back up alarm. Easy peasy
What was the cost of this upgrade? Also, is it easy to add speakers, or lights?
What was the point of installing the other battery gauge?
There is only one significant down side…if you run the battery down to zero your cart will not move…even in manual mode.
Put some rocket booster on it
And flam throwers
If you want to get to 30MPH get a high speed motor
I have the same cart with the same motor I just threw the tech at the icon dealer near a few bucks and he hooked up a computer and programed my cart to tops out at 30 mph
JD u need to Coyote swap that thing!! lol 😮
That shit was gooder
Camper bus video Please😊
Coming soon! Got an episode on how I broke it!

Nice to the point video without the irritating fluff. How much did the batteries set you back?
Good r is not a word say better
Be careful on those lithium batteries can cause fire 🔥
RoyPows is a very reputable brand, that’s why you don’t go with cheap batteries.
@@JD_JoyrideTV that’s true
That battery is lithium ion phosphate, or LFP almost bulletproof. Way safe. Research it.
Teach them how to work on Ford's early. 😂
Better get a fire extinguisher
No need.
