I live in Woodinville, and worked in downtown Seattle until recently. Seattle has a reputation for gloomy weather, and it is dark and rainy during the winter, but the Summers are awesome. One way to get some sun in the winter is to go east up the pass and go skiing, or over the pass to eastern Washington and do things over there ( I like to go pheasant hunting). Downtown used to be very nice, safe, and walkable, with lots of interesting culture. But the last 5 years or so have been horrible, with exploding homelessness, open drug use, and the associated crime, gangs, and violence. I no longer go into the city unless absolutely necessary. If my wife and I could find jobs elsewhere, we would move in a heartbeat.
With regards to the rain, we DO have that annoying constant mist in the winter, but in the summertime it rains a bit each morning (or every 2-3 days) and usually is nice and sunny all day long with highs about 75-80 degrees. It's about as beautiful as you could get.

I just moved to Seattle and I can attest to the crime, the fires, and the weather. However I have lived in other places where all those things are way worse, I wouldn't let that stop you from coming here at all. I disagree 100% with the Seattle Freeze, I love the people here and made tons of friends right away, my neighbors have all been great. I also disagree that it is not diverse, it's like a PBS commercial up in here.
What I really hate is the idea that we should flee crappy cities, and seek out good ones. If everyone does that who will fix these problems? How about instead of fleeing or avoiding Seattle, you come here and help us fix it. What cities will be left if we all flee from our problems?

This is the most dramatic video about Seattle. I’ve been here for almost a decade and it’s fantastic. I’ve learned that the Seattle freeze is a mindset. But most people are transplants now. They don’t have the same social conditioning that most Seattleites do. People are just nervous but if you try to spark up conversation I find most people are starved for connection.

I visited Seattle in 2000, after a few friends moved there for Amazon. I was there for two weeks and absolutely fell in love with it! I am an outdoors person and loved the nightlife too. In my opinion, the people were friendly, and generally spoke to me first. I went out on the bus one day, just for kicks and had a map with me, Someone on the bus offered to help me find where I was going. People are more laid back there, but you have to put yourself out there and try and meet people. I'm hoping I can go back for another visit soon. Since I love the outdoors so much, love rain and the sun burns my skin so easily. I feel that I'd love living in Seattle, if rent wasn't so high.

There's no point in using an umbrella in the misty rain.
Most people can cope with it long enough that they have to walk to the store or something.

And ditch the umbrella. Nothing marks you as an idiot like trying to schlep stuff with one arm holding an umbrella. Get a waterproof parka with a hood, and go hike. Try to go to a Hawks game…usually sold out…and follow the Kraken. Get a boat.

Skiing is close by, and summer brings hikes in the Cascasdes and Olympics. Yes, days are short from late November to early February, but it’s cold outside anyhow, and people do work indoors. Summer features long days with mild temperatures. Expensive, but worth it!

I moved back to the Reno/Tahoe area and have been researching Clark County. I hope the area is as friendly as I've heard.
The mist was wonderful. I love rain, snow and clouds...not crazy about hot, sunny, dry weather. GoreTex jackets and shoes make outdoor living pleasant in Seattle. The smoke from forest fires in California, forests here, and sometimes Canada drifts over and heavily pullutes our air. The summer is our dry season, so everything is vulnerable to fire. We definitely have had many summer days in the last 5 years where we had to stay home and use homemade box fan air filters to filter out the smoke. Im so confused with this video talking about weather. If you plan on moving there you obviously know about it the "rain". ITS THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST, HONESTLY. The Pacific Northwest is dead facing the Pacific Ocean with tall snowcapped strata-volcanos.
Seattles crime isn't even that bad as other cities like Los Angeles or New York.
What do you mean people from Seattle aren't nice. Clearly you have never been to Seattle. The residents are actually more nicer than other same sized cities.
Again, you can't complain about the rain in Seattle. Its not even hard rain most of the time its just light drizzle. Its the Pacific Northwest, if people want to move there again they know how the Weather is. You can go outside during the rain, people go outside and it dosent make a difference if you use an umbrella. Like I said, you definitely did not use trusted websites or use good information to prove and show your "points and information".
9:30 You say in the title of you video that nobody wants to move to Seattle but if house on the market sell 22 or so days how come no one wants to move there?
9:52 Lack of Public Transportation? This is a complete lie. The Sound transit system is definitely one of the best, modern, and clean systems in North America. Also there are almost bike lanes everywhere and and is mainly walkable.
One point to add in, Seattle is such a great city and its probably one of the best in North America, its very fast growing and its not perfect but it is a good city.
In conclusion I would not recommend this video as some points are completely false and definitely can be seen as biased. You clearly have never been to Seattle or probably anywhere in the Pacific Northwest for that matter.
This is not from a biased Seattleite. Its just my experience and common knowledge.

    Just visited Seattle for work.
Polarized people from different economic classes is not symbiotic. $18 for a ft long turkey sub at Subway,,,$42 for fish and chips.
I remodeled a crap little house, and before I even painted it, it rented for $3k per month.
The working class can't pay that, and don't have the time to sit in traffic afterwards for 2.5hrs.
Just doesn't work, it's so awful there!
Saw a police pursuit, ditched stolen car across the street, homelessness is rampant.

I will say that I disagree with what this video says about public transportation, in part. Yes, its true that taking the bus or lightrail is dangerous these days, but getting around by publuc transportation is super easy. Ive lived in other states for temporary work, and I vowed I would never ever criticize the buses in Seattle or Snohomish County ever again. The buses are on time and go pretty much everywhere.

Seattle isn't perfect, but this is definitely exaggerated. We have some of the cleanest, freshest air and water anywhere, most people are friendly and welcoming (we just don't like fake), and it's extremely diverse and we continue to be one of the fastest diversifying cities in the nation. The rain and gray can get you but we also get to enjoy the unmatched Pacific Northwest oceans, mountains, forests, lakes, and rivers all year round. Spring, summer, and even fall are gorgeous. Seattle proper isn't gaining popularity right now but most people live outside the city in the greater area suburbs and commute.

The lack of true leadership with the city council with
    Human feces in both.

Couple of things - your first item has always been true and that never caused people to move away or not move there. Yes the winter months are dreary, but I always said that the winters are the price you pay for glorious green summers. Numbers two and three are related - crime has gone up and people appear less friendly since people swarmed in for the money, not for the place. Big tech has ruined the place and drove a lot of people into poverty and crime and homelessness. When I lived there from 1976 to 1985, it was an amazing place to live - it was often voted the most livable city in the US. I still return as frequently as I can to see the place and to visit old friends - and I always feel pain when I see what Seattle became. But that was mostly in the last 20-25 years.

I absolutely agree. Seattle drivers are bad, LA drivers are far worse, and New York just never had any appeal to me. I love hiking, skiing, and kayaking and that’s where Seattle shines.

Yes, this place is a hellhole. You don't want to come here. Rain, SAD, unfriendliness... and did I mention the MURDER? Everthing this overly enthusiastic person says is true, and you should trust him. I mean, he has a TH-cam channel! But seriously. Stay home. The weather never gets great, the food is terrible, there are no beautiful mountains, and we have no culture. Stay home. You won't regret it. /s Also, GOMs.

It's the worst city in America, nothing positive it rains for 10 months and the politics are horrible if you want to live depressed go for for it.

The decline was because of Covid. Literally every major city had a decline. The population has since been increasing. Even the people who move out literally move to the suburbs, as the Seattle metro as a whole was one of the few that even during Covid actually gained population

the annual fire season = absolutely atrocious air quality. DEATH levels
For a state and a region *(Seattle) where very few homes have AC - this makes life completely miserable.

One thing he forgot to mention which is a BIGGG problem ALSO in Seattle is the traffic and bad drivers oh my goodness Seattle HAS to be Top 3 cities with the worst drivers ….a lot of foreigners/ people who aren’t from here/ specifically Asians and elderly people it’s so irritating it’s so bad it makes you think WHO gave these people drivers licenses? 🤦🏽 I seen this one Asian lady on the freeway one day (I-5) who was driving below the speed limit and once I got beside her to pass her I almost thought it was a kid driving because she could barely see over the steering wheel and she was driving with two hands 🤦🏽

I know many of these Immigrants get them made illegally and others have none at all but the courts and police, still give a pass/turn a blind eye to those without one, because they are undocumented! They make similar unlawful exceptions in Los Angeles!

It’s funny seeing people cope in this comment section. Either they’re ignorant or willfully ignorant denying the factual information here. There are many problems with Seattle. I will admit the nature is second to none tho !

This video is sensationalist, and straight up _lies_ about the weather. The misty rain is refreshing and easy to get around in, as opposed to downpour and floods. You usually don't need an umbrella at all, just a hooded jacket. It also doesn't rain "every other day", they're manipulating the statistics. There's a rainy winter season with very little snow, then it's absolutely gorgeous from late spring until about October. Vancouver BC is the same way.

Re "The Seattle Freeze," I LOVE "standoff-ish people!" The more "standoff-ish," the better! The less people I'm forced to deal with, the HAPPIER I am!🤗...I believe In the words of existential philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre, "Hell is other people."👍
