    As a small creator myself, it feels great seeing 1, a fellow small creator do well with a video, 2 reassure me that there are so many people going through similar things as my channel, and 3 make sure a well written and well edited video. Seriously had me intrigued and had my attention all the way till 12:30. Please do more like this.

      Other small creators are my biggest inspiration (especially those who are friends). It’s also really fun to grow together. Huge creators just feel so… “corporate”, “surgical” and unreachable (if that makes sense).

    • @WovenYT
      @WovenYT 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@zumuvtuber other then “surgical” I know what you mean. They feel so much less like a nice person trying to do something fun, which I know that’s not the only reason for making content but that’s a big reason I make videos. Purely because I think it would be awesome to basically play games with friends and make other peoples day better for a living.

    It's unfortunate how there are many TH-camrs who are either not grateful, or barely put any work in to their videos (like reaction channels) that get millions of views, while many really great channels are never found. Especially with animation channels. I've seen many really good animations that don't get enough attention because they're not feeding into the TH-cam algorithm.
    I used to have an old channel that I spent many years working hard to make stop motion animations, but it just wasn't worth the effort to spend a few months or a year on a single video. There needs to be more videos like this going over smaller channels. This could really help small creators get started.

    • @Tharzic
      @Tharzic 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      I personally am a YT animator & have seen just how much TH-cam has basically fucked over animators over time. For one thing, changing a revenue requirement to watch hours over views sucks for us because most of our animations are seconds to a minute or 2 max because of the amount of effort it takes just to make even just a short animation. We spend hours creating our work, and unless some video randomly goes viral in the animation community, or you collab or get a shoutout, it's hard to get anywhere.

    • @apersimmon
      @apersimmon 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It's probably because of the time between upload's. TH-cam likes doing that to channels that don't upload on a daily basis, it's tragic. I imagine that animators that single handedly run a channel take weeks or months to make a single video.

    • @Tharzic
      @Tharzic 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@apersimmon this here ^
      YT also screwed us animators over when they changed ad revenue to being based off of duration instead of views- we can't pump out a whole ass 10 minute animation daily when it often takes a few days to finish a 5 second animation part for a MAProject

    • @quippic8
      @quippic8 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Allow me to introduce myself: I make better content than +80% of Minecraft TH-camrs and somehow I am still under 1k. Why is this? Simply put, TH-cam favors larger creators because they bring TH-cam more ad revenue. I wish we all could be noticed more, but corporate would poo themselves if we did.

    • @ZaphiraXC
      @ZaphiraXC 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      it's true. as an animator, it's sad how effortless videos get millions of views and my hard work barely gets noticed.

    As a small creator myself (as of writing this) it can be tough to find a way to break through and “make it” on TH-cam despite all the information out there. But it’s nice to have a loyal fan base and to have the outside help, like close friends and family. Because it does help to keep you motivated for having that one day when you make a video that will put you on the map of TH-cam!
    Oh and by the way I do like the editing of this video, it’s simple but effective of its own right! 👍

  • @jaypab
    @jaypab 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    Its definitely hard as a small creator to stay motivated to actually put that time into making videos, especially when it seems like they just never hit the mark. I've had a few videos blow up pretty decently, but they aren't the kind of videos I want to make. I could totally dig into that niche and pump out content, but I know that I would be miserable doing it. A part of me questions why I continue to make videos to this day, but I know that ultimately my channel is simply my creative outlet, and I should be proud of it no matter what.

    Actually really bloody good video man.
    I think you hit something deeper about the state of small channels. To think of all the people that have legitimately good content and yet because they don't play the "Game" no one will see it.
    And yet, some people just love the craft.
    You my friend have both the love of the craft and know how to play the game.
    Christ even making a 10 minute video which visuals basically consist of stats and TH-cam thumbnails really interesting and engaging is really impressive.

    TH-cam is a hard platform to grow up in, I made a thousand channels dedicated to gaming. And growing up as a commentator is hard AF in 2023. Especially with how many kids now take over TH-cam their attention span is abysmal, so it’s hard to keep going in the commentary side of TH-cam. But if you got the determination and you have actual “style” then you’ll do great. You just need to find a part of yourself that your comfortable sharing with so people can get used to your content. And most importantly YOU! Keep it up to all of you small creators!

    As someone who's been making content for over 7 years, I can say that so much talent goes down the drain, as so many creators with heaps of potential leave the space and are forgotten. Having friends and even other creators to look upon for inspiration has kept me going for this long, and its amazing to see creators like yourself push out these insanely well edited videos. Keep up the good work my man, your doing us small creators proud! ;)

    Great video man! You definitely deserve more subs for this quality of content! That being said, I weirdly found that the lowest effort videos that I made for my channel did the best. Any time I attempted to put any real effort into my videos they would almost always flop. Inserting the word "When" in the title also seemed to give my video a big boost in the algorithm.

    I've noticed recently that I get recommended a lot more smaller creators, even sometimes seeing videos in my recommended with less than a hundred views. I can confirm that most of them are just garbage. This is cool tho.
    I've considered in the past going into TH-cam properly and making full on devlog videos of my projects, but in the end there's no way I could be fucked to keep that up for any length of time (I also don't really have the voice for it tbh)

I know how much it means to me when I get a comment, so I like to pay it forward by taking time to seek out videos that don't see the light of day due to having low views

    As someone who has tried for a while to become a content creator and failed in astronomical levels (and quit unindefenitively a month ago), this really hits me. My childhood dream has always been to become a content creator and rise people's spirits and entretain them, ever since I first saw TH-cam, but I never found the right way of doing so, and always thought it'd be easy and never really had the motivation to do so.
    Anyway, thank you for making a video that can reassure a lot of people in that they're doing the right thing, and they can improve, and that it's ok, since the system is not made to benefit anyone in specific.

    this was a huge confidence boost lol. i wouldnt exactly consider myself a content creator nor did i exactly expect to become one. i mostly just uploaded my animations for fun expecting it to get 100-ish views, and hearing that the reason why they ended up doing so well was because people actually enjoyed it, was really encouraging. it made me want to actually pursue it as a possible job cuz i just assumed i got lucky with the algorithm or something lol. anyway this video was really well done! i wish you luck with your channel :)

    I clicked on this video thinking it was just another big youtuber looking at the "hidden" side of youtube. The thumbnail and title are great, I loved the editing, much funny. keep up the good work!! 👀

    I've just stumbled across this channel thanks to the Gameloft video and seeing him shoot up to 16.9k in just a month after this video was uploaded made me a bit teary-eyed for him even though I don't even know him - I literally haven't heard about this channel just 30 min ago, but I still feel proud of him and wish him all the best and that this channel grows even further.

    Honestly, my stance is that to blow up, you have to be at the right place at the right time.
    However, you can increase that chance of that happening with more skill, and if you blow up you will most certainly need to put effort to keep that. (Really the only exception are shitposts, those just randomly blow up)

    TH-cam is an uphill climb, but we all do it together. I could be sad about how I have 64 subs and not 1 million but I could also be grateful that in a few months of having a channel I've gotten as far as I have. W video.

    I really like the video. It's well edited and the pacing is great. I want to see ur progress. It's just sad that it is really hard to become a creator for a longer period of time cuz of lack of either exposure, luck or just plain motivation and also having a job is important.

    The thing about the high effort videos getting no views is so true. I've spent upwards of 70 hours on a video just for it to get 200 views. And the video I spend like no time at all on gets almost a million views. What I've learned is that the thumbnail is more important than the video itself most of the time because that's what gets viewers to watch in the first place. Just opt for making okay content at first and then ramp up production as your fanbase gets larger.

    i am a small creator mostly i do art but i upload other things. it’s good to see people talk about other small creators!
    i’ve had some random luck with my videos. just uploading clips from a stream got me over 200k views which i don’t know when i’ll ever get that type of views again.
    i’m trying to work on things for art right now and i have a huge project i’m hoping to finish before the year ends!
    maybe this will be my motivation :)

    My main motivator by FAR for making more videos as a small creator is seeing the rare but incredibly generous feedback I get on some of my videos, heck I once had a guy reach out to me to tell me that my videos are awesome, me, a guy with currently 37 subs

      your content is actually really really good, good voice and well spoken with great humor and comedy, honestly the only reason you are not getting thousands of views a video is the thumbnails and titles, wish i found your channel sooner, wouldve loved to include you in the video, good luck big man hope to see you succeed.
