The Travelers of the Multiverse unearthed arcana seems to have finally confirmed that a 5e Spelljammer book is on the way, and we’ve got a bunch of new interplanar races to play with. The autognomes are literally robotic gnomes and the pun is definitely intended. These tiny robots have left their creators behind and are clanking their way to your game tables as the first true playable construct race (more on that and warforged in just a bit). What makes these tinker toys tick? Grab a wrench and an oilcan as we go through everything you need to know.

I built an Autognome Artificer named Admin. The creator apparently forgot to change the login info.
I built a autognome druid (circle of stars) because I like that this inorganic machine is using nature powers also he was sent from another plain to re search like a Mars drone
I’m trying to do something similar, but circle of spores. Thought it would be fun to make an autognome out of wood, and have the wood “rotting” be what supplies the spores. Thought it would be thematic.
One thing that I think is often missed when people discuss using mending as a healing spell is that it takes one minute to cast, rather than one action. That's a real limitation when it comes to in-combat utility. So it's good that they made the spells you'd use to pop someone back up function for this race.
I’m playing an Autognome Battle Smith/Rune Knight. He etches the runes onto his casing and grows like a transformer with Giant’s Might. His warhammer is a large pipe wrench and he has some daggers to throw that are big screwdrivers. He was a maintenance droid on a Spelljammer before meeting his new crew. Loving this race so far!
They're literally Warforged that took the Small size option.
First idea to come to mind a metabots type character. Artificer armorer. They add better parts as they lvl
I really like this idea. I'm really glad other people watched that show.
what i don´t like about this build, is that Autognomes have a natural AC that is basically a go to waste feat at the momento to equip a better armor, basically.
Autognome Battlesmith. Just playing two robots. Your steel defender can repair you!
Some sort of warlock. Reskinning the Eldritch blast as Iron Man style repulsors.

I just finished an adventure as a level 2 autognome artificer and successfully hid by disguising myself as a trash can.
Yup, that feels pretty autognomish to me
I feel like a Celestial Warlock + Pact of Chain (Everliving Ones) becomes an even stronger build with this race and they get Eldritch Blast + Guiding Bolt, and Cure Wounds (which is applicable to Autognomes).
Probably have to pick up one of those cantrip feats to get Mending, but it's not too shabby considering the True Life feature doesn't require anything but your existing Hit Dice to use.
Rangers (& Paladins) can also cast mending if u take the 'Drudic Warrior' (Blessed Warrior) fighting style (& u can grab Guidance or Shillelagh as well) 😃

Am I the only one that wants to switch the heights of gnomes and halflings? I get that they're supposed to be the elf like version of halflings but to me that means they would be shorter, not taller than the smallfolk.

I'm sure it was already said but I think college of creation bard with this, constructs making constructs, is funny and has a lot of potential for existential angst around newly gained self-consciousness lol
Does this mean Warforged race will be back to constructs at some point? I don't doubt they could also have "True Life" feature.
we are about to start spelljammers in space---im thinking of going autognome monk. I really like to paint my own minis for my campaigns but can't find one for this. Any places you guys can point me towards?

Slightly off topic, but can I get a recap on the "extra attack" I gain through multi-classing? I have a level 8 Goliath (4 Barbarian + 4 Fighter) that focuses on heavy hitting. I'm leaning towards going for Fighter on my next couple of Levels but is it worth going back towards Barbarian after? Would it be better to go Barbarian then back to Fighter? Or am I simply going to have to pick one over the other now?
You don't have to pick one or the other, but a three, or two level dip into fighter with barbarian can be nice. Specifically for champion's extended crit and action surge (fighter), or you know, half damage and no surprise from barbarian.
