    Anyone who ever interviews a serious actor / star should watch this interview. Brandreth knows both their careers better than they do, he knows just the questions to ask, and he doesn't insert himself into the discussion unless he has something genuinely interesting or witty to add. Result: they both respect him, trust him and are therefore more relaxed and forthcoming.

    I love the way that Dame M is so interested and focused on what Kathleen Turner says. So down to earth, grounded and also modest. What a wonderful woman, wonderful actress, great, great talent. Witty, charming. People say ‘Legend’ a great deal. But she was. Already greatly, greatly missed. The world is a poorer place without her precious soul.

    Many are questioning whether this was truly Dame Maggie's final interview, but she was always known for giving few interviews and being intensely private. Also, the description clearly states it’s from 2021. Instead of debating it, simply appreciate this masterclass in interviewing.
    We rarely had the chance to know her beyond the screen or stage.

      @Meggie951 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      Her career was very long and demanding, during those over 60 years for sure she had her ooos and downs. She had very strong mentality and even when she was contradicting herself she wasn’t very hard on herself, with such a big expectations from industry and people, deep down she probably was which is not easy to handle. Being on the set sometimes she was „ dropping”her ( very high) acting skills to help other actors to get the scene right which I found very tactful. Plus people during old age can be much more melancholic.
      For sure she was a true Dame in her profession. May she rest in peace 🙏🏻🫶🏻

    Diddn't Maggie S defeat Kathleen T for the Tony?

    • @blanchefan
      @blanchefan 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Yes she did--In the summer of 1990 I saw Dame Maggie on Broadway in the brilliant comedy Lettice and Lovage, which was written for her by Peter Shaffer: AND I saw Kathleen play a superb Maggie (no relation to Dame M) the Cat in a marvelous revival of Tennessee Williams' Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. They say comparisons are odious and they are, as well as often ridiculous. Theatre gossip at the time said that Kathleen really, really wanted to win the Tony. Well in my view, they were both winners; but Maggie was at the peak of her powers in a play written for her; so the Tony voters voted for her. And I would have to agree. But both women were---marvelous; I was so fortunate to see them both! (By the way, I noticed in the interview that that subject was NOT brought up; the diplomatic thing to do, I think!)

    I was like 15 when I saw Body Heat. I took Kathleen Turner’s success as a given then.

    I wish people would put dates. If Kathleen Turner says she’s 64 in this interview so this Hass to be about at least five years ago

      @@sinkhole_of_happiness Thank you. Again I emphasize the need for dates on TH-cam because we’re not seeing them anymore and the heading I got was that it was from one day ago
