I know he was. He saw me come to an orderly stop with both feet stopping nicely and promptly without any fuss - then goes and does that. I’m sure he winked whilst doing it !
I give the swans a 10 on the landing. Especially the flair at the end. The panels are looking great. You’ll have a fire in no time. Moving right along.
Hey there !! Love Cape Town !! That shirt / tile combo was unintentional and I’ve had strong words with the wardrobe department!! Heads will roll for this !!
James. You’re getting really good at this vlogging thing, and not just on your hard work building, but just who you are. Lots of folks routing for you as you persevere The SLO-mo of the swans was terrific 😃👍🏻. I often see a pair where I am (near wigan canal) landing, taking off is fantastic too, I keep thinking they will run out of canal before they lift off, and the sound of their wings as they fly overhead is amazing too. You’ve really started something there now . And we’re they really ducklings at the beginning- already !!? Joan So looking forward to seeing your stove lit it will bring ‘boat’to life! BTW you sure gonna need a big tools locker - lockup- somewhere!
You could do with a travel mug for the lid to keep the bits out and of course the warmth! It's looking good though! Happy birthday Tracey and nice flight of the swans!
As usual great video James. I really loved the slo-mo of the swans landing(?) I had a whole family of them do that the second night I stayed on my boat right next to me, was just heading to bed and wondered what on earth the noise was. I looked and they were all staring through the galley window at me 🤣🤣🤣
Hi James , yet another arrow to your bow, getting those swans to land right in front of your camera was a piece of Air Traffic Control Genius. All the rest is good too, Well done, Stay awake my friend. (PJ)

James..when you get round to installing the electric wall sockets will you be incorporating usb sockets. It can be very useful to have them at different points on the boat. You are making terrific progress.
When it comes to the mushroom vent cutout on the joint. Line up the two sheets and clamp them down on a board. Then cut with a hole saw. You'll get a nice semi circle in both sheets when you remove the clamps.
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt I suppose if you’re going to put trim around the edge anyway, a jigsaw cut in the round will probably be good and round enough.
@@TheNarrowboatThatJamesBuilt It looked like at 15:00 there was plenty of space to butt the next panel up, but I'm not up close and personal :-) You could clamp it to any spare scraps of wood you have lying around. Plan B I suppose is to mark each panel when in place before securing, and then use the old faithful jigsaw.
love the magical water treading swans, were they gliding into your plinking of Yellow? You always manage to find a way through the challenges which is good to see. Most impressed by the 58 whole saw, not terrified of you loosing a limb lol! Who doesn't like a satisfying clunk? Lol! Happy birthday Tracey 🤗
Might want to save yourself some headache by penciling in words on the pieces of wood as you're cutting them: fore, aft, port, starboard, top bottom. Would maje it a lot easier to keep track of when you go to painting and installation. You could even write on the paint before installation and just touch-up that area after it's in place.
Things must look different from Downunder. I thought the milled edges were by the sidewall and that you needed to measure from the sidewall not the bathroom wall because you would be turning the board at right angles to fit across the boat in one piece. Good thing it is you building and not me!
I noted you took your measurements from your partition wall,, should you not have taken it from the leading edge of last board. save a small infill and will bring you back from mushroom vent as you first intended. As your partition wall is the width of your CLS i believe.
I did think that but it would only move back 50mm which would actually place the board edge in a worse position on the mushroom vent. This way the cover of the vent will have a good bite on both boards

Nice 1 James as always, the clip of the swans, fantastic well done you.
It is great when you have the right tools James. Stay safe and looking forward to the one hundredth upload
What another productive and an electrifying day you’ve had today. At least you weren’t just swanning around all of the time.
Oh very good
Progress-progress-progress... And that swan footage was the best thing I’ve seen on TH-cam today👌

That's a neat wiring job. Quality wire as well. Nice
Thanks Will - I’m happy with this circuit. The cable is fairly cheap at 27p a metre so it’s well worth the decent stuff.
Happy birthday, Tracey.
I love swans, too. They're delicious! ;o)
Mmmmmm swan sarnie
Great swan footage!

Hi Terry
Thanks for your comments - all my wall sockets will be usb because I’m not having any 240v - small USB ports all over the place.
So pleased youre using the proper spot light drill bit hole cutter thingy
That’s what the packet says it’s called!!!
Much better - no risk to upper limbs, just fingers
Don't forget to get a carbon monoxide warning thing..for you're multi fuel. I had a mate that didn't have one......58mm cutter looks great!!
Paint the right side this time James 😃
I might, let’s see
And leave the wine till after it is up :)
Hi james when you are running a long length of cable use small pieces off off cuts off trunking
lid to hold long cables in place while you complete.
That’s exactly what I was doing today and it works a treat doesn’t it !
When it comes to the mushroom vent cutout on the joint. Line up the two sheets and clamp them down on a board. Then cut with a hole saw. You'll get a nice semi circle in both sheets when you remove the clamps.
May I remind I’m on a Narrowboat - there’s no chance I’m going to be able to line up 2 boards end to end even after cutting. Plan b

you can use the router to cut the holes for the ceiling lights

good luck
Bit safer using that hole cutter than that other lethal thing eh lol
I know !! And a fraction of the time and dust. Happy !
Snapped a picture of swans. Do you mind if I do a painting or dog. Of them

Is that stretch classed as a wide canal which would be suitable for wide beams?
You can get wide beams up here but you can’t get a wide beam through Foxton - or loads of other spots in the midlands

When I was having my led lights fitted my electrician said no more than six in each batch. In my case not always switched on together.
Also you don't want to lose all the lighting on the boat if one fuse blows.
This time it won't matter which side you paint because they are the same measurement each side
