I was married for 30 years... the last 12 is was (post-menopause-no-sex) she wanted nothing to do with being sexual. I was a "provider".... After I moved out, I was so happy to be alone. Yea it was hard, but I'm not hassled by "Karen" for taking a nap. I left all possessions behind, she kept the Tundra truck, the Kia optima, all the furniture, the dog, everything. I walked away with my Honda motorcycle, my pc, and my FREEDOM. At one point after being moved out for 5 months point she said "you are nothing to me but a handyman and source on income" after I dumped my cycle, standing there with a broken shoulder blade and a few broken ribs. At that moment I made the decision and filed for divorce. BEST DECISION EVER. Now I moved to Boulder Colorado, living the dream going mountain biking and road biking when I want. I eat healthier, I live better. I have FREEDOM....

When she tried to tell me that "all" women spend X amount on themselves a month and she doesn't and therefore I should be saving all that imaginary money, I calmly told her thats not how saving money works and no "all" women don't have this budget for non essential items. This enraged her, she completely lost it and started yelling and said she lost all respect for me, she accused me of being financially abusive and of not wanting her to have a nice life.

Tough to find work these days, etc” The smile on their face they had meeting what they thought was a good looking single guy, turns into a diss appointed sneer. Then they make an excuse to walk away. It’s quite entertaining. Some of my close friends asks why I do that, she was cute, into me or whatever. I then point out if they were into me, they wouldn’t have walked away.

I don't find all of that attractive. Humility, simplicity are the attractive to me. I'm 55 and don't look it. I stay in shape. Funny thing is, the same complaints I hear from men here I hear from successful women. I make high 6 figures but I'm frugal, and also a geek. I can fix almost anything that breaks in my home. If it's beyond me I call three places to get the best deal
The stereo types that are floating around here show that dating apps aren't the way to go. I like meeting and getting to know someone in person. Endless texting is also a turnoff. Too many preconceived notions here.. I'll pass.

@@15xgg80 she's a gold digger. Not sure if you've encountered them before but she's caught in a pattern and is too old to keep the same system and have it work for her. She's still out there though as I've seen her on the same ol websites. You can ask her out if you'd like and see what it's all about. Bear in mind, she expects a chauffer to and from the venue - not by you of course. You get to pay for it. She'll order the most expensive items on the menu, of course. She'll wear one of her Ukrainian outfits which aren't flattering but that isn't the point. As for it being an excuse instead of it being something else, go out with any Soviet block girls and you'll see they don't mix words or are passive aggressive, they just say their blunt truth.

The tipping point for me, was when after a string of bad relationships and interactions with girls, my best friend of many years decided to let me know that she wants more than a friendship. We had an amazing beginning, a little rocky in the middle, and we emerged stronger together after some hiccups. Then she cheated on me, moved away, and 6mo later immediately got engaged to someone else and threw everything out with me on a whim including the friendship. Then I realized how shitty the typical girl is, even those that pretend they are your best friend. They don't care about anyone except themselves. Over a decade later, not having spoken to each other in all of that time, she called me crying telling me how sorry she was. To this day, I without a doubt know she is not sorry....she is just unhappy in her current situation

I think that's the scariest thing of all - knowing how incredibly deceitful and unstable women are. In every experience I've had, it went from her being obsessed and in love to not even caring less if I even existed. And no, I didn't change or do anything wrong. It even happened with a long time friend like you said. For me, women have proven themselves time and time again to be far too untrustworthy so I've just decided it's not worth the risk and will likely live the rest of my life alone. I mean, it's crazy because you can't even predict it - she may be the most kind and Godly woman and swear she'd never leave but when it comes down to it, she will still betray you in time.

It’s simple for those that wonder. I was worried I’d want marriage later in life and married a woman worth my time to build a relationship with. Too many women are unfaithful, or dependent on a man. She on the other hand is both faithful and independent. Faithful being of importance due to a previous relationship and independence was important as I won’t always be around to help. This served as a way for me to know if marriage was for me or not. Because if it works out, I’ll be in a happy marriage until death, and can build a loving family on that. But if it doesn’t work out, I at least know I tried. I’ve been with her 7 years now. Married 3. I say don’t get married because I still desire to be immature and young. Marriage takes that away from you and sometimes I still desire that “im alone and free” feeling. But just because I don’t want to be married. Doesn’t mean I treat her like shit or don’t love her. We both love one another very much. But my statement isn’t saying “I want a divorce”. It’s more along the lines of saying, I wish I could be young and alone forever. My desire to be “alone”, stems from my anxiety of letting others down. I’m a type C personality. So naturally I prefer making people happy. But that also means I’m unable to be happy if others aren’t pleased with me. Maybe this wasn’t the answer some of you were looking for, but I didn’t want to leave you misunderstanding the care I have for my wife.

The rise of twitter and 'social media' by the 2010s people I'd meet were insanely toxic. I was brought up to keep sensitive topics to yourself when with a group of people you knew casually but now people had to spew their crazy thoughts all over the place and they HAD to know my stance on everything so they could judge me. When I was in my 30's, I changed careers which involved my going back to school and moving back into my mom's house to save money. This rendered me undateable, at least to women I was attracted to. I would lie in bed at night thinking about the day I would finish school, the day I would be working in my chosen field and achieved my goals. I studied, joined networking groups related to my profession, went to the gym and eventually got the job I wanted.
Several years later, I'm married with two young kids. I didn't realize it back then, but I had it good. I only had myself to worry about. The tipping point for me happened last summer. I was dating a beautiful younger woman. We'd had a lot of great times together; went to Aruba together, had all sorts of adventures, really in love and the whole shebang. I was contemplating getting serious with her. She came to stay with me for a few weeks in the summer (it was long distance). Once she got to my house, she started treating me like shit: complaining about how I managed my household, about the clothes I wore, about where I put my furniture in the house--she even complained about the way I write on my wall calendar! We had fights almost every day. So one evening I was laying there beside her, we both were silent as we'd had a fight that day, and I was thinking, "Man, SCREW THIS. Why do I even want a relationship? Why do I even want someone in my house at all? It's way more peaceful when I don't have anyone around." And I started thinking about all the opportunities I could have if I was just perpetually single--travel, savings, hobbies and personal fulfillment, other relationships I could cultivate, etc. And something snapped inside me. After she went home, I sent her a terse message saying I felt like she treated me awful and I was done, but I also told her part of this was me--I'd realized I just wanted to be solitary. Now I am working hard, enjoying my personal life immensely, doing my hobbies, and saving up for that dream retirement property up north. Couldn't be happier.

She said, that if her choices, at this point, were a guy like me (meaning average looks, financially stable, emotionally mature, intelligent) or going to a sperm bank for children, she'd rather do the bank. Then take them to a good venue or offer an interesting experience. Rarely but sometimes you can get them to come straight over or go to their place. Every once and a while need new photos. I'm almost 40 now and full Monk, but before that, Dating was like a Rollercoaster. In my younger years, i was this very boring nice Guy. My Mom teached me to be a Gentleman. I got burned all the time. I turned into some really bitter Arsehole, who couldnt give two fucks what Women want or think. That was the time where i got LOTS of attention from Girls. I healed from my "Red Pill Rage" or whatever that was, but i had to keep playing the role to keep the Girls attention. I came to the conclusion, that it is way too much effort for this stuff. Now i'm just beeing myself. Girls are (in a romantic or sexual way) almost invisible to me. I was never more happy or relaxed in my life. Giving up on Dating is like giving up on some bad habit like Smoking or heavy drinking. It's hard at the beginning but you will feel so much better in the end.

As someone a bit more than half your age, I have to agree.
For the asking cold bit, while the answer lies in a balance of "strike while the iron is still hot" along with learn to flirt, thing is if you don't have something she obviously wants* when you flirt, then it doesn't matter how soon or late you initiate because you will be rebuffed every time.
*(money and providership in overwhelming majority of cases, indicating she needs a sucker to pick up the tab OR social status because she's a social climber and you look like a solid stepping stone)
For the getting told no without saying no, I've often heard rationalizing that basically "but I'll get beat and murdered if I say it directly". IMO this speaks more to shamelessly lying and never admitting they're really after something else. The mind games are the worst part of it.
For initial asking-out often times even if you think you've done it right and they say yes initially, they will come back later and say no, having changed their mind. Usually followed up with either some version of "I still care for him blahblahblah" or trying to flip it around to blame it on you for "coming on too strong" and they were "caught off guard" or "taken aback". Whatever the story, the point is "this is why NOT you".
I can at least respect someone who kicks you to the curb and wants nothing further to do with you. Unfortunately the majority will still try to stick to you and see if they can get something else out of it.
When they want to be friends I just say "I'll think about it" and walk away giving an easy-out to end it. If she pursues it (which some stupidly do), I'll just tell 'em "Nah, I don't want to be friends with somebody I have nothing in common with who makes everything my fault". (because that's exactly what it is and that's exactly what she did) Most the time they let well enough alone.

    • @Bennysol
      @Bennysol 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

#2 is the worst, especially when you first meet them. It's easy to talk to a girl and get her number. But texting and communication is absolute trash. 9 out of 10 times you pick a time and place and they say they're busy or can't make it. But they never respond with a better time or day. I give a girl 2 chances. A few days or a week goes by and I'll invite her out 1 more time and if she again can't make it? over, blocked, number deleted
I'll never understand why they have to waste so much time. They shouldn't talk to the guy and take his number if they're not interested. Guess it really does come down to that attention they crave. You're just 1 of 20 guys she's talking to and when she's short with you let's you know that you're not in the top 5

I had this "moment I realized I was undatable" when I was in the 4th grade - around 10 years old. I remember it vividly and where I was standing and how it made me feel. Back during that age, we would give girls notes that said: "I like you. Do you like me? Yes or No. Circle one." I was not the only one - all the guys did it. All the girls I gave that kind of note to either circled "NO" or did not return the note. I would go through the scenarios as to why girls turned me down but not my friends. Then one day as the class was walking in single file between classrooms I was thinking through this issue and it came to me. The only possible solution. I was ugly. It made me sad and relieved at the same time. But I dismissed the feeling because people would always say "looks do not matter." The biggest lie told to kids growing up. I was about 20 years old when I finally realized that I had been right all those years ago. I got over it but what I realized after becoming an engineer and lawyer, I was not going to give the women who were uninterested in my youth a chance to share in my success. And I had plenty of chances. But I refused to let women make me pay through the nose for something now less valuable than what they gave away to others for free. But I still went out of my way to be nice to females over the years.

I'm 25 and considering that approach. I haven't had a complete lack of luck with women - have had a number of really nice experiences. But one really bad breakup that took me years to recover from, and watching my Dad's life fall apart after his divorce (which he wasn't guilt-free in - but still) has left me pretty iffy about relationships in general.
For years I've wanted to meet somebody genuine but it's just a waste of time. I'm not perfect at all, and I'm definitely not the best looking guy of the bunch - but I'm not the worst either. I play 4 instruments, work in engineering, have a math degree, and generally consider myself a decently fun person to be around. But trying to meet women in their 20s is just an absolute waste of time. Especially nowadays. I really want to state clearly that I'm really glad that female empowerment has become a thing and some of the misogynistic norms in our society has been reversed - but much of it now is people blowing smoke up each other's asses and acting like everything done in the name of empowerment is a good thing by default.
I'm pretty close with my sister and she's legitimately a fantastic person. Generous, intelligent, funny, etc. But it took listening to her complaining about her 'dating problems' (i.e. her being unable to choose which one of the multiple guys into her at the time she should go with) to make me realise that women just don't get it - and not of spite. They literally just think dating is exactly the same for women as it is for men.
As I saw it put in another comment: 'dating for women is like shopping - dating for men is like job hunting'. Except that in a job interview you can use your experience, portfolio etc. to be in with a shot. In the dating world, it's good looks, psychological and social hacking skills, and $$$$$ (which is hard to come by early in life) that count. I dunno man I'm just tired of this shit, all I want is somebody to work together with in life. Literally a life partner, it's not like I'm looking for a ye olde style housewife or sex doll or something. Tired.

I quickly realised that even though I have a professional career, a home, interests, hobbies, etc, none of that would cut any ice with women my own age (let alone younger!). Got divorced in 1994 (mid 40's). So... I had the career without the home or money (and it took 10 YEARS to recover financially - hear that young men???). Went to a couple of 'single dances' in the beginning. Asked this one woman to dance, and afterwards sat down to talk. As soon as she found out I was divorced, she wasn't interested. She said she was single, never married, and was looking for the same in a man. No excuses, that was it. I told her I wouldn't be interested in her either, and of course she was instantly put off and pissed off. I couldn't be... but SHE could. I told her good luck finding and keeping a man because, at 38 years old... she's never had to settle, she's never had to compromise, she's never had to even think about what someone else might want or need. As far as I was concerned, she had as much or more 'baggage' as the ones that were divorced with a kid or two looking for a live-in sugar daddy and replacement father. Even back then 25+ years ago, women had more 'standards' and expectations than they could cash. Would love to have someone to travel with (34' motorhome with solar so I can 'rough' it in comfort out west and a Jimmy 4x4 TOAD behind it to go out on the trails) but I'm at the point now where that woman was back then. I'm not going to settle or compromise or risk losing what I have to live with a self centered bit... to have female 'companionship'.

5’2, shy, awkward, and introverted. I’ve had a few dates from online dating but didn’t particularly find my dates attractive. None of them really embraced their femininity but nonetheless, I dated them because they were the only ones to actually respond to my messages etc. Realized I’m quite unattractive since those type of girls were all I could get. Would rather be alone than with someone I’m not fully attracted to which will only cause resentment. Cue The Car’s 1981 song: I’m Not The One 🎶

Don't feel shy at all but yeah I'm an introvert and whilst I've been on dates and wouldn't mind more it's also hard to imagine actually being with someone all the time. I think I'd feel imprisoned. I don't want to justify hobbies, where I spend my free time on, etc. I don't want a woman who invites her female friends gang over etc. Just not interested at all in any of that as an introvert. So I ask myself, is it really worth it? I'm not sure, I think us introverted men are perhaps better of focussing on hobbies and tranquillity.

Don't expect women to get all "excited" for you when all you do is play video games all day and spend your money on pot every week. Talk about a romance killer. It's not just women who act like this, but even the majority of men who try desperately to make things work, and then act shocked that nature doesn't work out the way they expect it. So you would think from the outside. I’d still be trapped in a loveless marriage if she hadn’t had an affair. That was 15 yrs ago and she’s going through her second divorce & working her ass off. I divorced her, sold the business, moved to a different town. I haven’t done online dating for years and I’ve given up on dating, period. The only women I’m remotely interested in don’t give me the time of day because they don’t date either.
